Windows 7 notification icons are blury

The small icons in my taskbar are blurred and it's really irritating me. I had this problem on my computer windows 8 but after I restarted, it was back to normal. I tried to restart on this computer, but nothing has changed. I have also looked through the settings but couldn't find anything. I was wondering if someone could solve my problem. Thank you

Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

If I understand correctly, the text and icons are blurred on the taskbar.

This problem may occur because of driver problems.

I would like to know a few things before you proceed.

1 is this specific problem for notification icons?

Check the resolution and the graphics driver is in the correct order.

Method 1:

Try to update the graphics card drivers and check if it works.
Follow the steps to update the graphics driver:

a. press the Windows key + X key, and click on Device Manager.
b. search for graphics cards.
c. right-click on the graphics card and click Update driver software.

To update the graphics drivers and check if it helps.

Method 2:

Install windows update manually and check if it helps.
Follow the link below

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/install-Windows-updates

Method 3:

I suggest you to change the theme and check if the problem persists.

  1. Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and click on personalize.
  2. Click one of the available themes.
  3. Click Save

I suggest to visit the computer manufacturer's website and install the latest display drivers and check if that helps.

It will be useful.

For other post help back, we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows Update notification icon does not

    Hello

On my laptop when there are available windows updates and then in the box notification blue windows update icon appears, download updates and tell me if I have to restart my computer. My father has a new office, also windows 7, and instead of this icon, the indicator for the Action Center pops up and says there are windows updates. How to do his job the same as mine? All settings inside the update of windows are the same.

    Thank you

    guru84,
Make sure you check the settings in the center of the action and the Notification area settings.  Display icons in the Notification area of change  Also will show a number of icons in the notification area.  It is possible that when updates are available, the Windows Update icon is active, but just not visible.  When you receive an alert Action Center, click the triangle to the left of the notification area button and see if the Windows Update icon is there.  If this is the case, click on, and then drag it to the visible area.

  • Windows 7 desktop icons are all links

Have a new windows 7. flying over my photos from the old computer. Some show a picture, so I right click for hopefully display image in an another photo viewer. I chose the windows photo viewer.  All icons on the desktop has changed so that icon and I can't open anything. They are all links

'All icons on the desktop changed to icon and I cannot open anything'. I assume this is the icon of the windows photo viewer?

I think that what's happened is that you used 'open with' on a shortened. You can check by going to control panel > programs > associate a file type or Protocol with a scroll of program LNK partner should say unknown. I suspect now is said however: Photo Viewer.

If so, there are two ways, this can be fixed. The easy way requires editing the registry but then you want to go this route.

    1. click on Start Menu, type regedit in start search and press ENTER. Right click on regedit search results and run it as an administrator.

    2. navigate to the following registry branch:

    NtVersion ntVersion\Explorer\FileExts\ [ext]

Replace the [ext] with the real extension of the file you want to restore the file type association to return to the original Windows 7 by default (probably .lnk). If you unsure, simply browse through all the Sub-touche under FileExts.

    3. delete the subkey named UserChoice.

    4. exit the registry editor.

The second method is a little more work, can't fix it, but does not involve the registry.

Since the default action is caused by the user (as it was accidental) choice, you can be able to restore everything simply by creating a new user account. See if the icons to return to their natural state, then knit. If so, just move all your files and folders and delete the old account. If you use Outlook, you also need to reset where it looks for files of Outlook, but it can be automatic (do not try to start Outlook until what everything is copied on the property). If you use this method, remember to copy the hidden appdata folder. Just show all before you begin the copy.

  • Windows 8.1 - icon of folder/files appearing as black square and Panalpina Start/Control is not a white screen

    Hello

    but no use.

    Hope someone could help me.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello Asif,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    2. What anti-virus is installed in the system?
    3. What is the exact error message you get when you start your system from a USB/DVD?

The question could arise for various reasons, including the corruption of system files, virus infection or a specific corruption of the user profile. In order to diagnose the problem, I would suggest trying the following methods and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

I suggest to start your system in safe mode and then try to run the elevated command prompt. If you are able to do it, then try to run a scan of the file system (CFS) auditor to check corruption of system files in the system. SFC scan will search for system files corrupted on the computer and fix them.

    1. Press the Windows key + X, click prompt (Admin).
    2. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

For more information, refer to this link:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

You can run the Microsoft Safety Scanner to make sure that the computer is free of infections:
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Note:
the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.
The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

If the problem persists, proceed to the next method.

    Method 3:

I suggest to create a new user (Local account) with the permission of the Administrator profile and check the account number. Make sure that you follow the steps mentioned in the article: create a Local account and let us know the results.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know if you need more help, we will be happy to help you.

  • Vista - Windows Explorer repeated crashes / Invisible Notification icons

    Hi all

First of all, thank you in advance for reading my problem and for any help that anyone can provide.

My computer has been recently infected with Antimalware Doctor, a fake antivirus program type you want to send money to "fix" everything what he reported. I went to the record of his program and deleted directly. After that, Windows Explorer seems to crash everytime I'm wriggling on the State of Notification bar icons. It would be close all my files, I was working on that. I found a work around that puts each folder in a separate task, so it's a minor relief.

I did a full scan with Norton 360 and returned the next day. Things seem to be fine, until an hour later, the Explorer has crashed again. I noticed that it seems to hang exactly one hour after it starts. Accidents have occurred at 19:59, 59:08 and 09:59, a bit like clock work. Even with no opening of files. I ran the Malwarebyte Anti-Malware and CC Cleaner several times. Each has found and "corrected" several errors, some of the fake antivirus. Explorer will crash an hour later still.

Another symptom that may or may not be related, is that the Notification tray icons are invisible. I can hover over where they should be, get a ToolTip and use them normally, but they are simply not listed.

Here are the details of the problem of my last fall (just before I started this post.)

    Signature of the problem:

  • Notification area: icons are invisible (NOT the system icons)

Was fine when I went to bed last night. Computer did an automatic stop (no windows update). Started this morning and the notification area icons are invisible. The space of each icon is still there because I can mouseover a vacuum arises space and text for each icon.

I tried the regedit fix, but that is really intended for people who cannot see their system icons. The icons of my clock, volume, network and battery are still visible, but no other icons are. Restarted several times, started in safe mode and windows theme switched from classic to vista. I can't find an answer to this problem.

When I restart windows, first 2 or 3 icons will begin to show, but then after that, for some reason, they disappear and no other icons appear. As I said, however, the actual processes are still running and I can even access. Just the icons are not visible.
