Windows 7 Pro 64 bit black screen with the mouse only on startup and nothing else

Hi there, Windows 7 system recently froze on me when I tried to move a large file on a USB hard drive. I didn't was not able to close the file so I decided to stop my PC with the regular start-> Shut Down.

Now when I try to turn on my computer, after the "starting Windows" and Microsoft report goes to a pure black screen with just a (mobile) mouse cursor, not keyboard commands or click right work (eg. ctrl + alt + delete does nothing).

I tried to start in safe mode, safe mode with network, they do the same thing after the "Starting Windows" screen. Tried to boot with my Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installation disk so and entered commissioning repair - no problem. Tried system restore and it went successfully, however after clicking restart is again the same thing!

It's really making me crazy, could someone please help me? I really want to reinstall Windows and lost my files (since I can't even in a form any Windows Installer interface I'm not able to do a repair).

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I will proceed to a re - install now, thanks anyway for your efforts

  • WIN8 - no desktop, black screen with the mouse pointer. Manager tasks and the login screen work.

As usual I left my computer and after a few minutes, he fell asleep. Next morning, I had moved to the mouse, computer wakes, but I got a black screen with the mouse pointer. I hit CTRL + Alt + Delete and screen with Task Manager option appeared. I stop computer and rebooted. Welcome screen and logon is displayed. After you enter the password and click on submit that the screen becomes black with only the pointer visible mouse. I don't have not installed anything recently. Can you help me find my office?

OK, I had the same problem. I thought that if you have a pointer and can launch Manager tasks and all programs through its file > new task, then the hull works correctly. No office and no taskbar mean that something is wrong with explorer.exe. Now, he has corrupted not necessarily, may not properly launched.

    Here's what I did:

    1. I opened the Task Manager, the Details tab

    2. I killed all explorer.exe on the list

    3. just to be safe, I also tried to kill dwm.exe but it will be may not be necessary (it never goes away)

    4. I started the new instance of explorer.exe via file > run

And voila, I had the desktop and the taskbar.

    It will be useful.

    (2) by pressing F8 when the computer is turned on, then turn on the option 'System repair Option', it did not work.

If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a startup repair, etc.:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

  • Windows Vista starts with only a black screen with the mouse pointer.

Saturday, 02/27/10, I left my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1405 E) because I used Studio to produce a couple of videos.  When I got up in the morning, he himself had closed.  I tried to put on normally, and he said: recovery error windows, then on lists: Launch Startup Repair tool and start windows normally.  I tried to do a repair, but it just comes back to the same screen.  When I try to boot normally, it shows the progress on the background as usual bar, but then he comes up to a black screen with a mouse pointer.  When I run one of the many diagnostic tests, it is said that the BIOS cannot find the operating system loader.  I'm pretty adept at computers, but nothing I've tried before reinstalling Vista works.  I have files that I need to keep it on the computer, and only a few of them are saved.  Please help me soon, as I need for my school musical production on Thursday.

    Hello

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
is CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it.
then on the tab Applications - lower right - new task - the type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is
accessible by tapping F8 as you start several times.

First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Check the drive run at Windows startup?

Thank you for details on the issue.

This message is displayed because the specified file has an invalid security ID. Each file on a NTFS or FAT volume has security what ID assigned. The ID assigned to the data file does not match the ID assigned to the security data stream file ($SDS). There is a mismatch of Ids. CHKDSK replaced the invalid security ID.

Windows 7 starts up goes to the "starting windows" logo screen, then before you get to the homepage for a connection, becomes black and be left with just a cursor. tried to restart and start up repair but I have no way to access because of safe mode is the same thing then. Hello

Remove all connected devices (except the mouse and keyboard if it is a desktop computer) to the computer and then try to start and check what is happening.

You can try to boot from the installation disc, and then check if you are able to perform a startup repair, or run the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool.

  • Windows 8 black screen with the mouse on the screen.

Hi, my laptop windows 8, it's a few months old today when I try to start it shows the Acer splash screen then the screen goes black with just the mouse pointer projection. I can move the pointer on the screen, but windows does not load. Help please.

I'm having a similar problem with an emachine. Install a fine and worked correctly after installing some programs. Question has developed after the most recent upgrade. • Disc Read Error black screen with the mouse cursor

    Hello world.

I'll apologize in advance if this was picked up elsewhere, however, I've been unsuccessful with validated solutions, I found.

I am trying to reinstall windows 7 on my laptop. I used to have win8 but got fed up with the thing of 100% of the disk. I reformatted my drive and installed win7. Everything was ok for a few days, and then he started getting lag. I decided to do a chkdsk (c:/f/r/x). He asked for a reboot in order to complete the process. After the reboot, chkdsk found a couple of bad sectors (I don't remember what files should be moved) and restarted again. This has happened 3 times in total.

The last restart led me to the «a read disk error occurred press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart» It comes as I can get without the disc...

Then I tried an official win7 installation disc which gets a little further. After lingering on the 'Starting Windows' screen for a few minutes, the screen turns black with only the white slider.

I changed my BIOS settings also so:

    * SysInfo *.

    -No change

    * Advanced *.

-CPU - disabled power saving mode

-EDB (Execute Disable Bit) - active

People with disabilities - Mode BIOS fast-

    -AHCI Mode Control - Manual

-Set the AHCI mode - people with disabilities

    -USB S3 Wake-Up - disabled

    * Security *.

    -No change

    * Start *.

    -Boot Device Priority

    1 SATA CD (DVD player)

    2 SATA HARD DRIVE

-Touch Mouse Pad - people with disabilities

-Secure Boot - people with disabilities

-Selection of the Mode of OS - OS CSM

    -Internal LAN - enabled

    -PXE OPROM - disabled

[Please note that I used setting 'UEFI and CSM the OS' aswell in the Mode of the OS but kept a CSM OS as long as there is no point using both with win7]

I have used most of the F8 options and get the w/cursor black screen.

Start in safe mode always seems to stall on "... \drivers\disk.sys" what "loading Windows Files". After 5-10 minutes on this, it would eventually return to the screen Black w/cursor...

Jacky help would be really appreciated, soon.

There is no point in trying to reinstall Windows. If your drive is faulty, then a new installation will not fix it. To get a reliable report on the status, you must download and run the web page of the Disk Manager Diagnostics tool.

  • Black screen with the mouse cursor.

Some of our users are having problems with their screen goes to a black screen when they try to lock their computers using CTRL/ALT/DEL, instead of the standard screen of windows that appears usually.  Users also have a problem with the icons on the desktop is not not visible until they hover above them with their mouse.  I tried to find ways to solve this problem and have not found an answer which is quite what our users are from.  Computers primer, and it comes after what they have connected.  It's only when they're trying to lock their PC screens go black with only the cursor visible.  We use Vista Business SP2.  Thanks for any help.

  • Black screen with the mouse cursor, ONLY. Nothing else works.

I'm trying to fix a computer that, when started upward, ends with a black screen and a cursor after the initial screen for Micorsoft. The computer requires no log-in, so there is no screen connection first.

2 things I found that work at this stage.  I can move the mouse around, and if I hit the SHIFT key 5 times I get invited to turn on sticky keys (or not).

CTL-Alt-Del does nothing more than any other combinations of keys I've tried (and I have tried many).

I get the same results when I try to go to one of the Security Modes.

And just to make things interesting, we no longer have the original computer discs. I tried using the Vista disk that came with my Gateway laptop, but apparently it doesn't have the drivers for the HARD disk on the desktop controller because when I try to do a repair he does not find the local disk.  In this context, doing a complete reinstall could be a real challenge, so I really prefer that we can just fix the problem.

I don't have access to the command of computers through a plugged to my laptop external HARD drive docking station.  The drive seems to work ok from what I see.

Another forum suggested that the event logs might be corrupted.  So while I was looking through the files from my laptop, I renamed the folder for the event logs and created a new folder with the name of origin.  Unfortunately, this has not fixed the problem.

    Any ideas?

As a result of this issue:
I managed to get this computer working properly again.  The problem was something in Vista. For some reason, Vista was getting hung up before loading the office and could not go beyond that point.

I finally understood why the hard drive is not accessible when I boot on the CD.  It turns out that the motherboard has 2 controllers on it and the drive is connected to the secondary controller.  I moved to the DC main and solved this problem.

I was allowed to start a restore from CD and restored the operating system to a previous restore point.  After that, the computer started fine.  I can't say what was causing the problem for sure, but I suspect that he had executed an automatic update that did not fit right.

  • Windows 7 does not load, is sitting on a black screen with the mouse arrow.

I loaded several times and even used the repair option still does not load past this screen.  Looks like it should be on the page of actual windows, but nothing.  Have to restart the computer at this point.  He will continue to try to reinstall windows 7... cannot use same cause recovery F10 it says something about a partition... I have no computer!  What is going on???

  • Windows 7 black screen with the cursor on the linen. 3-5 minutes long

I have an Elitebook 8740w HP with Windows 7 which takes longer than 5 minutes to start. It will sit on a black screen with the mouse (which moves), until finally, it loads the login screen. The netsvcs group takes up to 900 MB + of ram and possibly the computer overheating? and turns off immediately. I think it may be issued a driver. This is the last log to start the laptop. The machine works fine in safe mode.

In addition, no major change was to the PC.
