  Ill say in advance, my partner uses a platform identical to mine with win 7 and has no problems and all the components worked fine when I was on XP, so I doubt they are defective, all of a sudden

  It is not clear if you use a POP3 server or an IMAP account - it sounds as if it were an IMAP.  I don't know how messages get tossed into the trash from Yahoo rather than be removed.  You could try to remove the account, closing and reopening of Winmail opener and then adding the new account.  This resolve sometimes strange questions.  Also check interference antivirus (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).
