When you check the paths in the boot.ini file, and the recovery console is installed, you will always get an error message indicating that the startup path is not valid.

If the recovery console is actually corrupted just to uninstall, you can reinstall or burn a cd with the recovery console.

go here for instructions on deleting the recovery console.

Here's how to make a bootable xp recovery console cd

    Courtesy of JoseIbarra

You need start by booting in XP using a CD Recovery Console, you can do (no XP media required) and run a chkdsk with error correction command enough times until it is clean and if it does not, you can create a new boot.ini file (this is usually one of two things).

    Here's how:

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget what you have (no XP media required).

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    RC. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.thecomputerparamedic.com/?p=8    (courtesy of Daavee)

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient. If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

    as for the other problems:

    did you use Registry cleaners?

    These can damage your system

You seem to be free of infection, it would seem that a part of your process cleaning has removed a necessary file.

I have a HP laptop with Windows 7 (OS) with 64 bit, but very slow. Can you suggest a way to start my fast pc? Most of the time it doesn't quite work.

    Hello

There are a number of possible reasons, your computer may run slowly - virus infection or malware, missing to defragment the hard drive, too many programs loading at startup - and all with different causes / solutions. So here goes:

Virus/Malware - Download, install and run these scanners (only Avast so you do not have your own antivirus installed):

    Malwarebytes': http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html .

    SuperAntiSpyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html .

    Avast Antivirus: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html .

Disk Defragging - install and run this app: http://download.cnet.com/Auslogics-Disk-Defrag/3000-2094_4-10567503.html .

Startup programs - install this application, then select start only the programs you need to run at startup, as your antivirus, firewall, but not your Disk Defragmenter (examples):

    Splash Guard: http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Guard/3000-2239_4-10958203.html.

Also, your system's drivers are up-to-date? Updated the driver can also slow down your system. Go to HP.com and insert the complete your laptop model number in the search box to find your latest drivers.

Let me know if these speed up your pc.

    Kind regards

Why not keep restart my mac and works very slow since I installed El Capitan?

Most likely because you upgraded an already dysfunctional system without the first fix. Or your HARD drive may be faulty.

Try these in order to test your system after each see if it is back to normal:

    1. a. reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

    b. Macs with Intel processors: reset of the controller (SMC) system management

    2. restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart again, normally. If this does not help, then:

HD recovery start: restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and press and hold the

COMMAND and R keys until it appears the Utilities menu screen.

3 fix the hard disk and permissions: select startup drive in the Utilities menu utility. Fix the hard drive and the permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. After loading disk utility select it

back from Macintosh HD entry of the list on the left.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the operation

ends, then quit disk utility and back to the main menu.

4 reinstall OS X: restart from HD recovery Select reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, then click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than wireless.

We have recently migrated to a webhelp online system so that we do not have to distribute documentation with our software.  We organize the webhelp documentation on our Web site and it's supposed to be accessible from our software.  Our problem is that the table of contents are loading very slowly in IE and does not at all seen Firefox.

During the last hour, I added the script to force the table of contents of synchronization (found on the site Web of Peter G)... and it did not help.

I can pm our URL for the help, if someone thinks it will help them to diagnose.

    (currently using Robohelp 8)

No problem. Just load the page with the active Console tab. Then select the errors and you will not get the errors.

Note: The table of contents are also very slow to load in Chrome. You have quite a few projects merged, so be sure that you set the correct speed optimization.

The help of opening shows two errors in the Firebug console. I get a 404 on a missing file error: "" NetworkError: 404 not found - http://www.foodpro.com/help/release_2.4/webhelp/mergedProjects/FPUSRPRF/whxdata/whtoc.xml".

The errors indicate that the merged projects 'checkfiles' and 'FPUSRPRF' are missing. I suspect that FF choke on the missing mergedProjects/FPUSRPRF/whxdata/whtoc.xml. Still, execution stops after that.

But perhaps a merged help guru can tell you more.

  • HP Probook 4520 s installed new hard drive with Windows 7 pro x 64 and drivers - very lag

    Hello

I had my HP Probook 4520 s for 5 years and a few months ago, he started to become very lag, especially when you use the internet, streaming video and games.

I thought I had identified the problem as a bad sector on the hard drive and so I bought a new hard drive and upgraded the RAM from 4 GB to 8 GB at the same time.

When I installed the new hard drive, I couldn't burn an image of my old hard drive (it would stop during the process and was unable to do so because of an error). I used my little HP Windows 7 Pro x 64 operating system DVD and your HP Application and Driver Recovery DVD to install the necessary drivers on my replacement new drive.

The RAM and the new hard drive seem to be good, however, it's more lag. I tried to use latancy monitors to see if the drivers are the issue. It seems that there is a huge amount of latancy and my CPU is at an almost constant usuage of 100%.

LatancyMon points in the following drivers: usbport.sys, tcip.sys, acpi.sys, iastor.sys, ndis.sys, dxgkrnl.sys and so on.

I've seen forums where they will guide you step by step how to determine what drivers are causing latancy. This I could do although he always seems to change drivers who are the cause of the problem and there seems to be a lot of pilots of causing this problem it is so difficult to bring out here that one. In addition, there seems to be no solution to these problems. The only one offered is to update the offending drivers. This does not solve the problem with lag and the latancy yet.

    Any ideas?

P.s. I really don't know not what is the underlying issue is here so I don't know if this is the right forum to post in. Drivers may not at all be the issue, I spent the last four weeks trying to solve this problem.
