Try the following steps, please:
1. go in Control Panel-> program and features, click on it. 2. scroll to the bottom for Microsoft.Net Framework 4 Client Profile, do a right click. 3. we will give you a choice of uninstall/change, click it. 4. then it will give a choice to repair, choose repair. It will take about 4 to 10 minutes to repair (with my PC), your experience may vary. 5. Once finished, go to your update and new Update Center.
If this doesn't fix it, try to remove .net Framework 4.0 with the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx ), reinstall .net Framework 4.0 and try to reinstall the update.

I am running Windows 7 and noticed that Windows updates did not work. The parameters are defined for the update every day. When I went to update manually returned an error WindowsUpdate_80070017. MSFT site was no help. Any recommendations?
Since neither updates Jan - 10 have installed, I'm going to hand you Support MS in the hope that they can resolve the problem. See below.
That being said, is an interpretation of the 80070017 - cyclic redundancy check error "a device attached to the system does not work," which suggests that a hardware problem might be the cause of the error (although I must say that it is a very low possibility in this case).
Good luck!

Why I have a new 'Java' update every day and I should let it install
Why I have a new 'Java' update every day and I should let it install?
This isn't really a problem of Microsoft. Java is Sun Microsystems. You must have installed on your PC Java runtime environment. You can disable Java updates in the Panel with the Java applet. You should not see a daily update, but the updates to Java to get out with some regularity. In general, Sun Releases Java update when the vulnerabiliites discovered oi the JRE. normal to receive several updates every day?
I had windows 7 for a few months now and lately, my computer has received a lot more series of updates on a daily basis. Sometimes, it will update 3 or 4 times a day. is this normal?
You will need find out what updates try to install and to do that you'll need to enter history and see if there are codes error for the updates that have failed to install.
It is quite possible that the same updates, try to install every day but are failling.
Note the error codes and what updates fail and after return or use this utility that comes with Windows Vista and Windows 7.

I have McAfee Antivirus Plus, and he tells me everyday since I've upgraded to 5.0 that firefox wants internet access for updating files. Before I upgraded, it didn't happen. What gives? Is - this legitimate, or something is weird going on here? Please notify.
By default, Firefox is to automatically check for updates every 24 hours.
- Disable automatic updates, if you wish (Options > advanced > update) and manually check whenever you want (help > about Firefox > check updates)
- Activate the authorization in McAfee for daily check to occur without informing you (contact McAfree for instructions)
- Change the frequency of the automatic update checking
- type of topic: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
- If you see a cautionary, accept it (promise to be careful)
- Filter = app.update.interval
- the default value is 86400 (one day in a few seconds, it's 24 x 60 x 60)
- Right click on the name of the option in the bottom panel, click on 'Edit', enter your new value, click OK, close the topic: config tab
- The change may take effect immediately, or you may need to restart Firefox for the changes to take effect, I don't know who.
