Windows 7 search is not finding I know that the files are there.

When I search from the Start button, Windows cannot find known files in 'My Documents'.  However, if I choose the "see more results" option and then choose ' search again: computer, I find all the files. "  What could be wrong?

Help please!

  • In Windows Explorer, filenames in blue indicate that the files are duplicates or backup copies of files found elsewhere on my computer?

    I had saved my files on my hard drive (I know, I know, that's how dumb that... lol).  I think I have duplicates, reanalyses even perhaps files on the hard drive.  My concern is that many names are displayed in blue color text and they are also listed elsewhere on the hard drive.  Duplicate filenames of colored text blue or even system created versions of my files?

    Hello

    What are actually color encoding defined by Windows in the NTFS file system to facilitate the Identification of the type of file/folder
    For example: names of files encrypted and compressed files/folder appear in green or blue. You can also set whether you want to display this color:
    In, click Tools, Folder Options , and then on the tab display Windows Explorer.
    In the advanced settings list scroll down until you see Show encrypted or compressed NTFS in color.
    Select or clear the check mark (as you wish)
    So you see this file/folder of green, blue are the files not double or triple.
    To find the clone files in your system, you can use a program like CCleaner which is easily accessible through the internet. But before you delete the clone you must be sure that you delete all system files, only files personal, or else it will create big problems.

    You can check this link for CCleaner: http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/
  • VLAN - how can RV082 I know that the customers are on them?

    We have a router RV082 and two ports are referred to as VLAN2 and VLAN3, the interface of the router gives only a port State report but I can not find in any case to find out which computer is on these VIRTUAL networks. Is anyway to do this? Thank you.

    Unfortunately, there are no other tools of control over the router.  You can view the status of the port and see the VLAN it.  But you will not be able to.  You might could find a network tool that will help you identify your network and control.

  • While trying to install Windows XP, I get an error message that the files are missing.

    problems with reinstallation

    I have a laptop from my father in law. He still had his personal information on it so I tried to do a reinstall of xp from my cd. I did a format and begins to install. Then it appeared that there are missing files, and he did not finish the installation. Download a copy offline, or I have to purchse a new cd in a store?    Thank you jennifer

    It's not really answering your specific questions but most laptops come with a hidden restore partition that will put the laptop to a State "day one." Who can be the best option because it normally loads all the necessary drivers and applications too.

    If you have published or look for the brand and model of the user manual it will detail the recovery options. A reinstall like this formats the HARD drive and start again.

  • ViewObject line getAttribute returns null when I know that the data is there.

    Hi all

    I have a simple piece of code in my implementation of the Application Module class to define a binding on a view variable and return the results to my REST Web Service project.

        public ListItem[] returnListForCategory(String category) {
            ListItem[] result =  null;
            Row row = null;

            ViewObjectImpl voi = getListForCategoryVO1();
            voi.setNamedWhereClauseParam("Category", category);
            int rows = (int) voi.getEstimatedRowCount();
            int idx = 0;
            result = new ListItem[rows];

            while (voi.hasNext()) {
                row = voi.next();
                ListItem item = new ListItem();

                System.out.println("returnListForCategory: code: " + (String)row.getAttribute("Code"));
                System.out.println("returnListForCategory: codeDescription: " + (String)row.getAttribute(1));
                item.setCode((String)row.getAttribute("Code"));
                item.setCodeDescription((String)row.getAttribute("CodeDescription"));

                result[idx] = item;
                idx++;
            }

            return result;
        }

    When I run the debugger Houston (right click on the Module of the Application and select Debugging), the point of view getListForCategoryVO works as expected: three lines, with data in the fields.

    When I deploy this on WLS, and run via the WS REST I get three rows, but all the attributes ('Code' and 'Code') have the value null.

    Here's the REST WS code that calls it (in case it is relevant).

        private static final String config = "LookupListsAMLocal";

        public ListItems getList(@PathParam("category") String category) {
            ListItems result = new ListItems();
            ApplicationModule am = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config);

            LookupListsAMImpl llami = (LookupListsAMImpl)am;
            model.dto.ListItem[] items = llami.returnListForCategory(category);

            for (model.dto.ListItem item : items) {
                ListItem newItem = new ListItem();
                newItem.setCode(item.getCode());
                newItem.setCodeDescription(item.getCodeDescription());
                result.addListItem(newItem);
            }
            Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(am, true);
            return result;
        }

    Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong, or it could be the cause?

  • I did a system restore and the files are still there, but I can't find the location.

    I did a restore on my Windows XP system because I was not able to access my desktop because the password entry bar giving access to the Office not show up no matter how many times I rebooted the computer.

    When I made the recovery of the system, he said that my files were not going to be deleted, all programs were still there, but the photos, videos and music were gone from My Documents.

    So I tried to find on the C drive, I thought that maybe they had just moved somewhere else. I even went in the folder options to show hidden folders, but the files are not in one of these folders.

    However I know that the files are still there, because when I look at the properties of the drive C with the right click of the mouse, it says drive C is always full, as it was before the system recovery. So this means that the files are still there but I don't know where.

    I have lots of family photos and videos that I want back. These are the only things I want to get back and maybe my music files.

    Any ideas how I can find these files or the folder that contains the? Perhaps through MS-DOS or something like that? I have external hard drives to copy if I find them.

    Maybe this will help you:

  • Windows 7: the search does not find the files that should be, directory is indexed and *.php included on the list of extensions

    Windows 7: search does not find the files that should be. I have indexed directory and *.php included on the list of extensions, but search can't find files for Word searches that I know there are files with these words in them.

    If you're frustrated by research (aka Desktop Search), you are not alone. Click the Start button and type find and click the button 'change the way Windows search'. Now click on the Advanced button and select the tab file types scroll down and find your type of file (in your case .php) and make sure the radio button "index properties and the content of the file" is selected for the file type.

    Out the form by clicking on the OK button, but do not close the form when you click the Advanced button.

    Then, you may need to change the indexing locations. If the folder where your files are located is not known for indexing search, then search is not even bother looking for here (a source of frustration for many users). Maybe your files are located on another drive or partition without the knowledge of the indexing engine. Using the options icon and select/deselect expand, make sure that at least the files of interest are included for the indexed locations. I hope this helps.

    Hi Vassiliki,

    Unfortunately, if the files are infected you may very well end up having to re - install Windows. However, there are steps in this KB http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249694 to try to back up and restore Vista which may allow you to keep the programs you have.

    Another alternative would be to called a upgrade on the spot if you are sure that the files are cleaned and the infection is gone this solution should leave your programs and data intact and repair the damaged parts of Windows.
