Windows 7... sometimes starts very slowly, apply group policy slowly.

I have a 500 PCs in Windows 7 environment.  Essentially, the boot of machines well, apply fine policies and logon.  Occasionally, PCs random slow startup (get hung at the Windows startup splash screen) and get hooked to the application of Group Policy (Folder Redirection policy application).  It is completely random and cannot usually be duplicated on site.  My question is where can begin to solve the problem?  Are there tools available who can attest to the results?

Hi Garon

Your question of Windows 7 is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the following forum.

  • update XP June 29, 2011 caused my pc to start very slowly

the last update of xp June 29, 2011 has caused my pc start very slowly, what is happening on it takes 3 hours to start

It is important to know which to update. On July 29, I installed the update of KB2541763 (and had no problem with it). Is this the one you mean? Or is it perhaps one of the pilots or optional updates?

If the update is at fault, you should be able to remove it through Control Panel Add / Remove programs. Then, you must restart your PC. If it still does not work, you must run the system restore, which dates back to July 28.

I highly recommend you analyzing your PC from malware, too. MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware would be a good starting point.

  • Windows 8 starts very slowly

    Original title: techinecal problem

I have windows 8. the problem is that startup time is too long .it takes about 5 to 7 minutes to start early. so please, how could solve this problem?

To find what is causing a computer to start more slowly than normal, you should do this
Open a Command prompt with administrative rights (right click > run as admin) and run the command
It will restart your computer so back up your data before doing the below
As usual it's always a good idea to create a restore point & or back up your data.

    xbootmgr - profile stackwalk - dispatcher, boot - traceflags base + latency + readythread + cswitch - notraceflagsinfilename - postbootdelay 10

When it's done, it will create a file (usually boot_1.etl) that you are looking for.  Find the file and upload it to your skydrive and give us a link to the file in your next post

  • My family in Windows XP system restore is disabled by group policy. The system cannot me to enalbe this function, despite I have a partition of my hard drive to store all backup

When I open the System Properties dialog box, System Restore is checked, saying: she is disabled by group policy, and the system you cannot activate this option. I got a partition dedicated to my justo of hard disk to store backups and create Points of restoration with a capacity of 10 GB. How can I solve this problem?

If you see things like this:

You do not have sufficient security privileges to restore your system.
The System Restore tab is missing from the my computer properties.
System Restore has been disabled by group policy.  To turn on system restore, contact your domain administrator.
The System Restore tab is available, but the turn off System Restore (disabled by Group Policy) box is grayed out.
The task manager has been disabled by your system administrator.
The registry editor has been disabled by your system administrator.
The task manager has been disabled by group policy.
The registry editor has been disabled by group policy.
The command prompt has been disabled by your administrator.  Press a key to continue...
The operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer.  Please contact your system administrator.
The "Run" option is missing from the start menu.
The option "Log off."... ' is missing from the Start Menu.

The usual advice are something in the sense of "something has been disabled in the group policy...". ", and it is probably true that something has been disabled, but you know what something is and what it takes to do about it.

If you are using XP Home Edition, you will get away with advice to use the Group Policy Editor, because there is no Group Policy Editor in XP Home and that really doesn't tell you where to look in group policy, even if you run the Group Policy Editor.

You need a complete solution that works for all versions of XP and requires no hunting around in the Group Policy Editor or registry to find where things are that have been disabled.

Unless you have disabled these things on purpose, chances are good that your system has a malware infection.  The malware knows what tools you use to try to find and remove, for the malware disables the things you are more likely to consume and prevents them from running if you can't find the malware and remove it.

If your system has this kind of affliction, all malicious software tools you currently use or have used failed to protect your system so that you can expand your horizons malware detection and prevention to prevent these kinds of afflictions in the first place.

The malware will be happy you trick into thinking that you need to so something drastic to fix your system - as a facility repair, system restore point or a total reinstallation of XP.  This is what it would be like you, but these measures are not necessary.

You must solve the immediate problem of the tools does not, then scan your system for malware when you are finished.

No matter what kind of malware you've used analytical tools, they are unlikely to solve this problem, because they cannot tell if the changes made to your system have been on purpose (you or an administrator who makes them) or some malware changed them, so the analysis tools will let these things alone (it's usually a good thing).

If your system is afflicted in this way, there are probably other things that also do not work - like the Task Manager, the registry, System Restore and command prompt Editor, so fix them all at once even if you have not discovered they are broken again.

These commands from registry removes the registry entries that are stop opening programs.  Although the registry entries do not exist, these commands are safe to run and will work for all versions of XP.

Before making any changes to your registry, back up the registry with this free and popular tool:

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/get/ERUNT.html

Open Notepad to create a new text file:

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    notebook

Click OK to open a new Notepad file.

Copy and paste the following lines of text into the new Notepad file.

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]
    "DisableTaskMgr" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

    "NoClose" = -.
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
    "NoSetTaskbar" = -.

Save the new text file with extension .reg on your desktop or somewhere you can remember with a name you can remember, something like:

    enableit.reg

After you save the file, close Notepad.

Locate the file enableit.reg on your desktop and double-click it.

Alternatively, you can right-click on the enableit.reg file, choose open with... and select the registry editor.

Answer in the affirmative to the question... Are you sure you want to add the information in the registry?

You should then see a message that information has been registered in the register.

    Reboot your system and test.

You can delete the enableit.reg file when you are finished.

If the registry editor has also been disabled, we first fix (not a problem).

Given that your system has or has had an infection, follow up with this:
Perform scans for malware, and then fix any problems:
Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.

  • QB 2013 multiuser Windows 8 + Trend Micro + Server 2012 field ++ group policy

We have a Windows Server 2012 domain.  Windows 7 and Windows 8 computers are joined to the domain.  All computers are running Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security Standard - client/server anti-virus for Windows Server 2012 areas.  Group Policy Windows Server 2012 has all the disabled Windows Firewall.  Trend Micro worry free Business Security Standard has its firewall also disabled by default.  QuickBooks Database Manager to run from the server.  File doctor confirms connectivity is in place and fully functional.  All other software titles work on computer network with zero problem whatsoever.  The only problem is to Intuit Quickbooks 2013 and the computer of Windows 8.  Windows 7 computers work fine in single and Multi User Mode.  When you try to put Quickbooks 2013 mode multiuser on the computer of Windows 8, the program is sitting there doing nothing.  You're finally at the end of task on the program in order to return to the desktop.  After testing the various components of our computer network to determine the source of the problem (several hours later), I determined that if I download Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security on the computer of Windows 8, Multi User Mode then opens without a problem on the computer of Windows 8.  It's very strange to me that a company the size of Intuit would have this incompatibility with the application very current Trend Micro antivirus.  But keep in mind that the problem only occurs on the computer of Windows 8.  I see an article in the knowledge base and online claiming that you need to open ports in firewall to define a list of approved programs.  The article is obviously written for Trend Micro PC-Cillin - an obsolete product.  My question is: How can I solve this problem with specific Trend Micro worry free Business Security Standard?  There is no closed firewall ports.  The network is wide open.  This is confirmed when I use the file doctor tool to test the ports/connectivity.  I would like to avoid having to uninstall Trend Micro of our entire Windows domain to reflect a problem with a single application on a single operating system using a specific antivirus application.  I hope that Intuit or Trend Micro or Microsoft offers a specific solution for this problem by using a known working solution.  I am an engineer network with 20 years of experience and I already spent at least 7 hours trying to solve this problem.  It is obvious to me that Trend Micro on specifically Windows 8 is done in a way that is somehow interfere with Quickbooks - yet this interference does not occur on Windows 7 computers - even if all the computers in the domain are configured in the exact same way.  Help, please.

Trend Micro Worry Free Business Security Standard 8.0 SP1 has completely solved the problem.  It is strange that the Service Pack did not show up as an alert in the Trend Micro Worry Free Business Standard 8.0 Console Security.  After the installation of SP1 manually, the problem has been resolved.  It is also strange it doesn't seem to be an article in the knowledge base that communicates entirely that this question can exist and that the installation of Trend Micro Worry free Business Security Standard 8.0 SP1 will solve the problem.

  • Trolling, laptop screen drivers acting weird, Windows start very slowly

The screen of my laptop had finally died recently, so I took it into the store of the computer down hence my apartment is. Real easy, just put in a new screen. I have my laptop back and the screen is fine now, but since I found, he acted very strange. I tried to install a video driver via Steam for the GeForce Go 7400, and now it takes about 10 minutes for my computer starts after scoring in windows. I'm not really sure to know how to find the specs and everything, but if someone could help me I would be very happy.

    Hello.

Check the site of laptop manufacturers with regard to the specifications of the machine you.  Look at what graphic chipset provider is. He must check if it is nvidia.  Go to their site and download the latest drivers.  They have a program online to find the best driver for your system.  Download it, and if all goes well, this should you solve graphical errors and restore your HDMI.  NVidia will direct you ensures the latest driver package and complete for your machine.

    Hello

Just bought an Equium M50-164 and I have problems to open Microsoft Publisher files.

Generally, the computer is very fast compared to my old one but takes forever to open a file in Microsoft Publisher. Even when it does not open it opens all the tables that were created on the file.

I have Microsoft Office, Autocad 2005 and Microsoft installed Highway also. They seem to work fine.

    Concerning

    Hello

Well, it's not easy to say why it starts slowly. Slow performance can be a very difficult problem to diagnose because there are many causes of the slow performance. More in my knowledge Microsoft programs (IE. Editor, office, etc.) are very complicated software tools and it s is not easy to say which and how much process is running in the context of the BONE. I recommend you to search on the Microsoft Web sites for useful information.

  • Windows Update is updating very slowly. What can I do to make it faster?

I try to install some updates, but Windows Update is very slow. I tried to look in Windows help, but there is nothing there.

    Hi dgbystrom,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

Would you try these steps and let us know if this increases the speed or the speed, updates remains the same:

    1. Boot your system in a clean boot State.  (Start with step 1 - then try the update.)
    2. After I started using the settings described in STEP 1, manually download an update and run it manually.

Here is a link to the download Site:

In step 1 times how long it takes to download and install.  If it seems to be faster and you still have updates on the left, proceed to step 2.  Describe errors or if there are changes in time download in this step.

Continue through the steps, if you have enough downloads and try to isolate which can delay the process.

Report questions or concerns to us in the forum for more information.

Important note: do not forget to put your system back to a NORMAL STATE by following the steps described in STEP 7 of the clean boot procedure.

  • Cap5 starts very slowly

    Hi all!

I have a very irritating problem when I (try) to open Captivate 5. At the present time, it takes more than 10 minutes before you see the screen of welcome and again a few minutes before I can open or start a project. 1 out of 3 times he opens not at all. If I look at the Task Manager it uses of course more than 130 MB of RAM, but nothing happens.

But if I open Captivate offline (I simply close the network connection) I can start using cap in 20 seconds. So I think that the connection network more, the proxy or firewall blocking some communication with the server from adobe (?). Due to company policy, I can't change all the settings of firewall or proxy. Someone knows a workaround for this (except closing the connection of network before each startup)?

All other parts of the e-Learning suite work well, it's only of Captivate. Information of the machine: Windows XP, 2 GB Dual-Core, 4 GB RAM, elearning suite 2.

I appreciate really any suspicion on that.

    Thank you very much

    Marco

It seems to me that you need to store your Captivate projects on a network somewhere and not on your local drive of the PC. Is this correct?

  • Portege M400-103 starts very slowly

My new M400-103 seems slow. I have another unit & even though it was a solo processor it still compares favourably in speed for example starting up my new machine.
I saw that part of the problem may lie with all programs util that Toshiba load in standard at the start, but surely with the mobile dual-core processor is still faster.

I put the power to FULL POWER management, etc., but does not have a big difference. I see some comments posted to talk about withdrawal of Toshiba OS & re-installign Windows XP, but I'd rather not do & rather settle the existing operating system if possible.

Has anyone else had a similar experience. The touchpad on the M400 seems also more finicky about others using touch, maybe that I still need to get used to it?

    Hello

As you have already mentioned with computers laptop Toshiba uses a lot of specific applications to control all the features on the phone.
If you want to use all the features of the laptop if you need applications. It's done.

To my knowledge the Portege supports a large number of new generation, applications such as the Toshiba tablet software utility of rotation protect suite, protection of HARD disk and so on

Of course if you do not use this feature, you can remove it. I think then the laptop would boot much faster.
In addition, on many laptops the Norton Anti virus is activated and this utility slows down the startup procedure. This problem appears also on my laptop. The anti-virus application loading take about 45 sec.

OK, you laptop uses a Dual Core CPU, but this is not really a reason to start much faster.

PS: Do you know an application called bootvis or something like that? This application monitors the initialization procedure and is able to make it faster.
