Windows 7 Ultimate computer seems to have stopped, head HD not seeking chkdsk errors

Last week, I look at a the news on Youtube.  Turned away from the computer, came back and heard a strange clicking noise.  I listened closer and could hear the hard drive heads look back.  It sounded as if the head arm was moving inside the trays and then swing to the outside several times.

Click on the reset button and the computer would not start, error says no bootable disk found.  Turned off the computer, went to retrieve another new drive and create a bootable stick from my WHS server.  Come back I would try once more thought, and the started computer.  A ran Chkdsk with the option of scanning and repair bad sectors.  He found a no mistake.  A few days later the computer slowed to almost a complete stop, (non-response) error in the program I was using (Firefox).  A ran chkdsk once more on the C drive and found 24 index who needed compensation, but that it has been.

It is an i7 2600K cpu @ 3.40 ghz 3.39 Ghz, 16 GB ram, and two 3.5 "HGST (Hitachi/Western Digital) drive 500 GB which is about 5 years old now.

Even if Chkdsk reports no errors, I always suspect that the drive has failed.  As I looked at the scan of glomeruli that it suspended or 20 seconds in two places.  First to around 1100 groups then back to 14 000 clusters.

I have a new Seagate drive custom quality company.  The chkdsk seems to mitigate the problems, but I know now that I'm running on a ragged edge and she will soon be a serious failure.

I suspect it's the same story horror IBM-Hitachi again.  Readers are not mounted tight, there is a lot of space around them.  I don't think overheating is the problem.

Your contribution is appreciated.

Hi Donald,.

Please answer these questions to better understand the issue.

  1. What is Windows 7 connected to Windows Home Server?
  2. Is the computer on the domain or server network?

You can deal with this problem due to the hardware failure.  Looks like a bad impact on the hard drive. If it is under warranty, save and send it for repair. (If the computer is under warranty, send it - withdrawal of the drive will void the warranty.) If it is not under warranty, reinstall the drive (after saving).

Make sure you do, save it before he gets defective.

There are two hard disk problem physical and non-physical. If your hard drive sound like it, its may damage on your hard drive. First of all, you should be do is keep and back up your data and then remove those hard with the new drive. Do not use again this type of hard drive that will cause the problem in the future.

Follow the steps in this Microsoft KB article and check if that helps:
