Windows 7 Ultimate (MVP version) for the upgrade of windows 10

I read here on the forums that depending on your version (selling retail or OEM), your upgrade to Windows 10 license will be allowed to transfer to a future computer with new hardware or we will be limited to current pc hardware.

I have a version of Windows 7 Ultimate MVP, is - retail or OEM?

I would like to know because I want to buy new hardware (CPU, mobo, vidcard etc) in 2016.

Depending on the response, it might be interesting for me to wait for the Windows Update until next year and buy new hardware before July 29, 2016.

If the upgrade of Windows 10 has the rights to transfer to a new material based on the version of Windows 7 Ultimate MVP, do I need to install the version of Windows 7 first before the upgrade again to 10 Windows on a new pc?

Given that the "'free update is based on your current version of Windows 7 and is linked to your current hardware, you will need to re - install Windows 7 on your new hardware and then upgrade to Windows 10 GWX icon before July 29, 2016.

  • From what I read, if I buy a commercial version full of windows 7, I am not eligible for the upgrade of $14.95 to windows 8 in about 6 months.

I'm about to buy a computer with 16 GB of memory. I'll of course need a 64 bit OS, it looks like a good time to switch to windows 7, XP. But windows 7 seems to have a very short life span. The OEM version is eligible for a special download offer upgrade $ 14.95 to windows 8 that seems due Q1 2013, but it seems that the retail version is not eligible for this offer? Like many people I do not upgrade OS every time is out. But why would I pay for an OS which is replaced in 6 months?

    Huh?

14.99 reduction is a limited offer in time when you buy a new computer between June 2, 2012 and on January 31, 2013, with Windows 7. By October 26, 2012, the PC of all major manufacturers will come preloaded with Windows 8. The thing, it is likely to be the inventory on the market with Windows 7 for a while of OEM brand. If a consumer buys one of them, they should have the eligibility for the upgrade of Windows 8.

Of course, you can buy the new computer with Windows 7 pre-loaded, acquire the Windows 8 upgrade what becomes availalable and install it at your leisure and activate it whenever you're ready.

Yes, the retail version of Windows 7 is not eligible for the upgrade 14.99 discount, but you can get an updated copy of Windows 8 Pro for 39.99 beginning October 26, 2012 and ending on January 31, 2013.

  • Cannot activate Windows 8 error "the Software Licensing service determind that specified only usable product key for the upgrade not to own pieces."

Original title: invalid product key :(

Today, I tried to load my computer and was faced with the blue screen error short story that my hard drive some how became corrupt and had no partition. Fortunately, I had a friend who told me step by step how to solve this problem using my hard drive in my brothers pc. When it came to reinstalling windows I booted the computer directly from my windows disc 8 and when I tried to activate the key once I was ready to I received an error Code: 0xC004F061Description: The Software Licensing service determind that specified only usable product key for the upgrade not for own pieces. Means that I can not use the key I bought and must buy a new one? It seems really unfair because I've already spent money on the upgrade.

You upgraded to Windows 8, but did not have an earlier version of Windows Installer (error 0xC004F061)

If you see error 0xC004F061 when you try to activate Windows 8, this means that you are using a product key for an upgrade of Windows 8 version and a previous version of Windows wasn't on your PC when Windows 8 was installed. To install a Windows 8 upgrade version, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.

If you have formatted the drive until the upgrade of Windows 8 version has been installed, you will not be able to use your upgrade product key to activate Windows 8. To activate Windows 8, you will need to install your previous version of Windows, and then reinstall Windows 8. Help with the activation process, contact technical support.

  • I want to install Windows 7 to be able to play DVDs, I have to pay for the upgrade?

    installation of Windows 7

Hi, I am running Windows XP and I would like to install Windows 7 in order to play DVDs.  I pay for the upgrade?  I am not very computer, is - this easy to install so free.
    Thank you
    JO Smith

First of all, you need not to install Windows 7 to play the DVD.  WinXP is perfectly capable of reading DVDs, as long as you have a DVD drive and the drivers appropriate devices and Codecs installed.

Yes, if you want to upgrade to Windows 7, you will need to buy at least a license upgrade.  However, the "ease" of the upgrade process is relative, based almost entirely on your level of knowledge and skills.  In general, the process is fairly automatic: just observe the instructions on the screen.

You should, before you continue, make sure that your computer is able to support Windows 7, and that the manufacturers of all connected devices (printer, scanner, webcam, etc.) have provided drivers for devices on Windows 7 for these items will continue to work.

  • Problem of activating Windows 7: for the upgrade product key

Hi there I had to replace my drive hard when he died, so I installed windows 7 on it instead of upgrade of vista because I never had a vista disk when I bought the laptop, but when I went to turn it on he told me that the key was invalid because it was only for the upgrade.  Is it possible to fix this problem or get a new free activation key since I already paid for the upgrade?

You can reactivate your Windows 7 installation by doing the following:

    1. click on the Start button and in the box, type search: slui.exe 4

    2. press the Enter key on your keyboard.

    3. Select your country.

    4. follow the instructions for the activation of the telephone (toll-free).

  • After disk hard crash, loaded Windows 7 and get "Software Licensing Service determined that specified only usable product key for the upgrade, not for new installations.

Original title: Windows Vista product key used for any new installation.

I bought the upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows Vista CD, then had a hard drive crash, then installed a new hard drive. Load the purchased Windows 7 on new hard drive, now I get the message '... Software Licensing Service determined that specified only usable product key for the upgrade, not for new installations. That means that I have to load Vista on the new hard drive, and then update? Both for the end user (paying customer) hostile.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • How to change keyboard for windows 8 (UK version) for the American version

Hello I am sorry to say that I downloaded the wrong version of Windows 8, which was the UK version. I have not noticed any difference on my English version of the original U.S. version except when I use the keyboard. Many common symbols is switched, which is terribly annoying as a programmer. Instead of resettlement and the backup of my files, is possible to just manually change my keyboard version for the presentation of the US version?

    First attempt:

Control Panel > hardware and peripherals > USB keyboard

-Once in the properties of the kerboard I can't find a way to change the layout.

    Second attempt:

    Device Manager > kerboard

-Which lead me to the same window that depends on the installed keyboard driver

From the desktop, it is much easier.

    1. Control Panel, search language
    2. Choose change input methods
    3. Click Add an input method and the United States to choose a (I already had)
    4. Set as the default method or just delete entirely the United Kingdom.

  • Space required for the upgrade to Windows 8.1

Hi, I have a 32 GB SSD drive in my XPS with Windows 8 14. This 4 GB is free. If I opt for the upgrade to Windows 8.1, it replaces the Windows 8 files or consume this extra space after Windows 8? Windows 8.1 download size is 3, 8 GB.

If I have problems with the hard disk space, is it possible to roll back the upgrade? Thank you very much!!

You need 16 GBs minimum free space to accommodate the Setup routine...

    16 GB for 32-bit

    20 GB for 64-bit

If installation success does not, he will return to its original state.

Then once it's a window will appear asking for a serial number. In this window, you enter the serial number LR 6 What adobe sent you. Then once that went into a second serial number box will appear asking for a serial number from a previous version. Then you enter the serial number LR 2.
