  Windows updates appear to download but will not be installed.  I tried to go into 'control panel '; Security systems &; then Windows updates.  It checks and concludes that they are downloaded and try to install but won't.   My computer is set to automatically download and install, so I'm never checked to see if they really were the installation so far.  It seems the latest installations of updates took place the 1/11 & 12/01/11.  There has been many failures last year.  Right now, it seems that there are 6 updates important and 6 optional updates that will not be installed.

  I tried to disable my Norton Internet Security and then the installation, but that does not work either.

  You must download the updates and install them manually.  You can go to the Microsoft Download Center and search the KB # and then save the file to your desktop.  I would recommend performing a clean boot your PC and then, by running your office updates.

  There are many reasons why the computer breaks down. Stop (sometimes called blue screen or black screen error) error may occur if a problem causes Windows 7 to stop or restart unexpectedly. These errors can be caused by hardware and software issues.

   

  In addition to suggestions of Jose , try the following steps.
  Step 1: View the history of updates and note the number of the update
  a. see Windows updates that are installed
  b. Note the number of the update that failed to install.

   

  Step 2: Download the stand-alone update
  a. visit http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/v7/site/Home.aspx
  b. Enter the update number, and search for the update.
  c. download the good update for your windows.

   

  Step 3: Install the update by disabling all non-Microsoft programs to avoid interruption during update installation
  a. open the article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
  b. Article, follow "step 1: perform a clean boot" the implementation of these measures will disable all programs not Microsoft currently running on the computer.
  c. open the downloaded update files and install them one by one.
  Note: Restart the computer after each update is installed.

• Problem with the Package Windows Installer... when trying to install ITUNES 9.2 and Quicktime.

  I had this problem too, but I did

  first open Installer u then let it install

  When you get the messege, click ok and it will say restoration of action but don't get put off by this cause after 5 min, it will say: it is installed and restart your computer
