Windows 7 Windows Update locked by administrator

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on a Toshiba laptop. I recently discovered that the automatic installation of the updates has been disabled by the administrator. The problem is that there is no administrator, there is only me. The administrator lock seems to have occurred recently, but I can't determine when it happened.

I am able to install updates if diligently, I check for them and make the installation manually, but I would like to get rid of the lock of the administrator on the process and determine for me how I would like to make the facilities. How can I clear this setting so I can update Windows automatically?

This should help:

  • KB2267602 Windows Update failed - error Code 80070002

When I try to install windows update KB2267602 I get an error code 80070002.  All started when I tried to update the definitions of viruses and spyware from Windows Defender.  There is an update available, but he would not move "by reason of a problem of network connectivity or internet".  Troubleshooting couldn't identify such problems in each system.  I checked manually to the Windows updates and my computer has downloaded the update above but every time I tried to install it, I get a "some updates were not installed" warning and it gives me the above error code.  I tried to troubleshoot Windows Update as an administrator and the convenience store was told that "one or more components of Windows Update are configured incorrectly" and that the problem has been corrected, but continues to be again and again the same thing.  Help, please.

Just today finished a full clean install of Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate. Everything is smooth, with the exception of this one function. There is no need to check the registry keys to see if you can install updates or not.

You just need to be connected to an administrator account to install the Windows updates.

You can check if you are in an administrator account by trying taks simple administrattor. For example. Try to change the time system.

If you can change the time, you are an administrator; no other.

That's what I get for taking!

There is a big difference between be connected - one with administrative privileges (see your first post in this thread) and be logged on as administrator, especially in Vista & Win7. • Problems with Windows Update! ("some settings are managed by your system administrator"?)

I seem to have problems with my windows update. Last week when I checked to see if updates were needed that I was unable to view them because he said that "some settings are managed by your system administrator" who won't let me change the settings and the display of updates. It's my own personal computer so I am the administrator. However, this week update windows begins to function normally because there was an update available and I managed to download it, but a few days later, the windows on the screen update returned to say that "some settings are managed by your system administrator. I did a scan for spyware/adware/virus recently and I had only a low risk of adware that was detected and deleted without modification with windows update. This problem started right after that I got a warranty of software installed by Dell, I don't know if what they did could cause the problem. The system I use is Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Windows Update KB980248... prevents the connection from the system administrator

I installed a Windows Update last night (KB980248).  After the reboot, I could not identify you.  He did not reject my password, but nothing happened after that I entered.  I tried going to user Accts in Control Panel to make changes, but it requires system administrator password and wouldn't do anything (Yes, I used the password).  I tried uninstall updated but asks password and it is nothing new.  Line botom, after installing the update, it would not load my password.  Somehow, I was able to restore my computer just before the update and now I am up and going again.  However, I'm afraid to install this update again.  Anyone with a similar experience?

Well Mick, you were right.  I was somehow do a system restore (don't ask me how) and I restored it just before the problematic update.  Of course, my computer comes alive again and has helped with my password.  Well, my problem was caused by this update.  I guess I wonder why MS would send the update with this destructive power much in it?  Moreover, I have to follow my updates from that time to ensure I do not install this yet?  And I missed something valuable that the update intended to do?  Fortunately, I was able to complete the system restore before I read your email.  Your solution makes feel me better, but I did the right thing and I need to print your solution for later use.  I really appreciate your comments Mick!

    Best regards, ED

I ran malwarebytes, found nothing. Kaspersky found some problems and clean. I've been in touch with tech Kaspersky forum and they give me a certificate of good health. • Windows Update requires approval from the Admin while logged in as an administrator

I recently reinstalled Vista Ultimate after some adventures with a bad copy of Windows 7.  I am the administrator.  The only account that I currently have is the admin. account.  Any update I try to install, Windows Update asks me to log on as an administrator or ask one to perform the task for me.  I read articles and Q & A @http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistasecurity/thread/afa66485-9c42-469e-b393-5bd8ad5a82e5 until my eyes bled.  For the love of God: why this cannot be resolved so much hassle?

    * Title *.
I am administrator BUT Windows Update told Me I need to provide permission administrator logon as administrator or by asking an administrator to perform tasks for me

I had the same problem with Windows updates asking permission of the administrator when I was logged in as an administrator. Sometimes the Windows updates works fine and sometimes it has its flaws, but there is usually a way around it if you want to install the update. And here's one to try: go to start > Windows Update. You can eliminate the problem promptly Admin here by clicking on change settings in the sidebar and check the box that allow all users to install updates on this computer. You can always change it back again after you install the updates that you want. I hope this helps.

  • error 8007005, windows update does not (yesterday administration permission to delete Pending.xml was resolve))

I'm trying to remove Pending.xml from winsxs son.  When I click on remove it says I need administrative privelages.  Please help me, I'm doing this because I can't get windows updates, I havee windows Vista 64-bit edition family.    Help, please!

    Try this first.

Ensure that the pending operations are completed

Try a reboot. Before restarting the service (installer of Modules of Windows DisplayName) trustedInstaller to automatic started. Normally it is manual, except if an operation such as windows update requires an installation of starting time.

Click Start - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy the below line and a line empty below and right click in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

trustedinstaller sc config = auto start

    Then restart

Then remove the type in a command prompt as above

    del c:\windows\WinSxS\pending.xml

or Start - All Programs - Accessories - right click, run as administrator - Windows Explorer.

It's my full post on WinSxS

    WinSxS folder

The WinSxs is the central repository of records for Windows. All installed files are placed in the WinSxS folder, including updated files up-to-date. So, you will have a lot of different versions of each file, allowing you to roll back service packs and Windows updates to a previous state.

The current version of a file is hardlinked to the appropriate place in the rest of the file system. A hard link is a file name. All files have at least one hard link. Windows system files (usually) have two links in hard, one in WinSxS and one in c:\windows\system32. The two names pointing to the same bytes on the disk.

As the files have two names, they are counted twice by Solution Explorer, once once of WinSxS and System32.

There are other uses for it as well. It allows several programs to use different versions of DLLs.

    The system update tool

Ensures the consistency of the folder WinSxS (Side by Side).

    For 32-bit Windows

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=504

    For 64-bit Windows

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-US/Download/details.aspx?ID=1540

To see the results click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - right click on command prompt and choose run as administrator. Type (or copy the below line and a line empty below and right click in the command prompt window and choose Paste).

    Notepad %SYSTEMROOT%\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Then delete this folder to recover the 100 MB.

    del /s "C:\Windows\CheckSur".

    Start the scavenger

Add or remove a feature from Windows Control Panel - programs and features launches cleanup on Vista.

The sizes are not what they seem

Generally, WinSxS files are hardlinked. A hard link is a file name. Each file has at least one hard link. Files in WinSxS and system32 usually are hard links to the same file. Therefore, you count twice the same file in system32 and WinSxS.
