Windows 7 wireless Confusion

Hello

Recently, I got a Dell Precision M4400 laptop for work and llike it seems many others, having problems with my wireless connection.

If I connect an ethernet cable to my machine, I have no internet connection problem. However, with the cable, I can see my home network wireless displays, as well as others in the region. I can't select my network and managed to enter the network key (and later verified that it is correct... several times!). However, the laptop will not connect.

The strange thing is, if I connect an ethernet cable in order to obtain an initial connection, I can then unplug the cable and I still have a wireless internet connection for, say, 30 to 60 seconds. The connection then descends and I'm at square one.

I'm not massively technically experienced with things like drivers and so forth and looked through a few posts on the forum, but have been discouraged to see many people having no no success to solve their problems with wireless, so if anyone can help I would be very grateful. I might even send you a cake.

Thank you - Matthew

Right then here's the odd bit. I'm sitting here typing this on my laptop with a Wi - Fi connection. I was reading your last response on my desk and thought better to go and get the laptop to see if I had done what you think, I had (I think maybe it's just my terminology was not just previously, which led to the confusion of the last). In any case, I booted up and logged on and noticed the icon wireless in the system tray showing a connection to the wireless network. I have not changed anything, as we looked at this last night... weird. So it seems to work, but I don't know how... I will not touch anything!
Thanks for your help on this one - sorry if I have been of help through not being so well versed...

Unfortunately by raising your laptop model it seems that he is not on the list to be one of the system that has drivers for Windows 10...

That said, I don't say that your computer cannot run 10, just there are questions that can be done with drivers. I would say that if your only problem with 10 is the ability to use your WIFI connection, I would say that's not bad, but there is another problem with your version of portable, i.e. If I know your serving for the i7 2630QM model, it uses the graphics card Intel HD 3000 and unfortunately this and the HD 2000 are not supported for Windows 10. Yet once this mean that you cannot access the web or check your e-mail, Facebook and Ebay. Just that if you want to play games or do something that requires chart updated, you will get an error indicating that you need to update the graphics drivers.

I wish it was as easy as finding just a missing driver. If it has been in the last 30 days, you did the update to 10, I would say that your system can work well on Win8 or 7. I would restore to your older client software...

  • Windows 7 wireless "supplicant" he association/configurable authentication retry mechanism?

    Greetings,

I use the supplicant with native Windows 7 wireless to connect to my access point that uses WPA2-Enterprise. I confirmed that my connection works fine and authentication of 802. 1 X succeeds with the primary RADIUS server.

My AP supports redundant RADIUS servers so if the primary server is offline, the secondary server is tried after about 40 seconds. The issue I see is that when my primary RADIUS server is offline, begging it to Windows 7 gives up trying to authenticate and authenticate the shortly before my AP would begin using the secondary RADIUS server. If I try to connect again, the same problem occurs. I used successfully begging Funk Odyssey in this scenario, because it has a mechanism to try again a little longer.

Windows 7 supports all type of configurable recovery mechanism for wireless 802. 1 X authentication? Maybe a registry upgrade...?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Windows 8 wireless connection problem

I just bought a new laptop with Windows 8 and half an hour to put on, I lose network connectivity wireless on all devices in my home, new laptop, iphone, ipad, galaxy tablet.  The ipad, the iphone, and the Tablet first in loose connectivity followed by the laptop.  As soon as I turn off the phone followed by the router (BT homehub 1 I think), connectivity is restored on the ipad, iphone and tablet.  When I turn on the laptop back, connection is restored there too but not for long.  I checked the router and all the lights are lit and not flickering.  I ran the Windows diagnosis and this is the result «a network cable is not plugged in correctly or may be broken...» Detected (there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it which I assume means not fixed...) Problem with access point or wireless adapter... Fixed).  I checked all the cables and they look very good.  BT send me a home 3 hub even if they don't think that the router is the problem.  I remember not being near the router when I first created the connection with the router wireless.  Not sure if it is relevan.t I am at my wits end.  I am not knowledgeable about these things, and after having my laptop for a week I could not enjoy it at all.  Thank you

  • HP DeskJet F4583: Problem to put in place my HP DeskJet F4583 in windows 10 wireless

    Hello!

A month ago, I upgraded my computer Acer laptop win 7 to win 10. My Deskjet f4583 was working properly before when he was on win 7, but since I've updated to win 10 it doesn't. before winning 10 upradagion I have no internet, so I used my printer on its own network and it used to work properly. but now I have the internet connection... should I connect my printer with the same network to use my laptop? My husband is not in favour of linking it to the bcz network, that he used to use it wireless with this connection on the same network, when we have internet with win 7.  Please help me solve this problem, because I have to print a lot of animals associated with my work that are pending since last week... Please help me!

    Hi @MrsAbbaS,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support. I understand that after upgrade to Windows 10, you encounter a communication problem with your printer. I would like to help.

I got a little confused when reading your post. You said that he was working with Win 7, but you had no internet. Then, you said that you now have internet but your husband doesn't want the printer connected to the same network, because it worked when you have internet with win 7?  When you use the Windows 7 operating system I'm not sure if you have internet or not.

Well. Sure no impact with troubleshooting. If the printer and computer must be connected to the same network.

Set up your printer for a wireless network for printers HP Deskjet F4580 all-in-one and F4583

If the printer is on the same network as the computer and you still cannot print, try the following links.

I removed all the wireless and Bluetooth drivers

Installed wireless and Bluetooth driver 10.0.0318

removed the plane mode switch driver see 1.4.2.0 in Device Manager and tried to install the driver for the airplane 1.4.1.0 mode switching (the driver did not work windows blocked this driver for compatibility problems)

At this point, windows 10 switches starts to answer normally (with the driver down in the Device Manager)

From the Device Manager, I chose the plane mode switch driver see 1.4.2.0 again (this driver now works with windows 10!)

  • Pavilion Dv4000: Windows 7 wireless driver help!

Guys, I really need your figureing helps it to...

My friends machine needed some TLC... so I formatted and reinstalled the Windows 7 operating system.

I went to the HP support for pilots page and there are only drivers XP Win.

In "Device Manager", it shows the following drivers requiring.

    Mass storage controller
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Network controller
    Video controller

    The problem...

I simply can't the wireless to work for love nor money!

I downloaded and installed (a) different drivers for the wireless device. When they have been installed successfully, I'm supposed to be able to see a network to connect to diffuse all SSID wireless & Pick-up. I could not make it work! It worked once then stopped working again after it restarts as if this isn't retatining the driver for the wireless card. its really weird!

    Performed troubleshooting.

    • Downloaded the drivers for the wireless card and run them in compatibility mode (Win XP SP3) & installed.
    • Rebooted the machine. and the Wi - fi icon beside the clock has a red x through it, as it that the device is not enabled.
    • verified that the wifi was enabled. (what it was)
    • check that the pilot has been allowed within 'Device Manager' (it's still) drivers Displaying the "Intel 2200BG.
    • but still the Wifi symbol in the taskbar shows Red Cross or disabled marker on it.
    • Tried to install other Wifi drivers for the device of Intel 2200BG from other sites, including Intel. Restart, charges the driver installation (after removing the previous version) still nothing! same thing!
    • Tried to use the Intel utility to find the update and install the Wireless driver. (again same result).

It seems that Windows 7 accepts the driver Intel Pro / Wireless 2200BG, but somehow somewhere to turn off the device in Windows 7.  How does it can disable a device but see that the device is installed and works unless you are a doubtful driver?

Somehow, I managed to make it work for a while and connected to my wireless router. not a problem, then once the machine has been rebooted im at square one again!

thinking that might be something wrong with the registry systems or material etc... I then

    • Formatted the hard drive again for the 2nd time.
    • Re-installed the card WiFi on the laptop, checked the connections were seated correctly
    • re-installed the operating system Windows 7 again.
    • before applying any other drivers on the system I tried to reinstall the driver from the HP website (just to remove it may be a conflict driver with another thing. yet once always the same thing.

I spent hours on it now... and im at the point where I'm ready to run my friends laptop out the window and get extremely violent with her! I never met this before all the time, I played with computers. so I need someone to point out where im going wrong here. It's seriously making me crazy!

I have attached a picture of this post, I hope that's clear enough for you to see that bar Wi - Fi symbol and the pilot agreed to "Device Manager".

If anyone knows what drivers I can use for the rest of the devices, Audio, video (especially video and Wifi) and mass storage device would be much appreciated. There is still plenty of life in the old courbine of a machine and will make my boyfriend a good turn.
    • Someone please enlighten us on that until I lose the will to live!
    • Thanks in advance.

      Street

    You are the very welcome.

I see that the multimedia audio controller device has been installed and that means you should have sound there.

I already give you the driver for the mass storage controller (this is the card reader).

    Yes this is useful.

The graphics in this model is not quite able to market Vista or W7.  Quite capable, I mean he can't run Windows Aero.

There is that one driver in the world that has any chance of working for the graphics, it's this one... After installing this driver, you will be able to change the screen resolution and graphics acceleration is enabled.

    You must install it manually.

Download and run this driver.  You will probably get an error not supported operating system.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=447304 & swItemId = ob_47264_1 & swEnvOid = 2096

    Conclusion of any windows error.

Go to Device Manager and click on the video controller requiring driver.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.  Select her browse my computer for driver software option and find the folder of the driver that was created when you ran the file.

This file will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected, and the driver should install.

Reboot and the graphics should work just fine, but not Aero.
