Windows 7 won't recognize modem or to install drivers after cleaning

I just did a clean install of Windows 7 Home premium.  Now Windows 7 will not recognize the modem or its drivers.  So first of all, I checked the unit. Manager to see what the problem is.  He said "the drivers for this device is not installed (code 28). So I went to my mother in the House to the right to download the drivers on a CD and a flash drive from the Gateway Web site.  I tried to install the drivers, but when he finished he had nothing. No confirmation or anything.  After that I thought I had installed the drivers, I rebooted my system.  At the start, I checked device ag Manager and received the same error message.  so then I used the update driver option to run manually by the pilots, it didn't work.  I don't know what else to do. Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Installing drivers after Windows XP reinstall on Dell Dimension 2350 with Dell resource disk

    Hi all

Recently, I did a clean reinstall of Windows XP (home edition) on my Dell Dimension 2350. Everything went well. Now, I need to install the appropriate drivers. I have the Dell resource disk and this is where the problem starts.
As noted elsewhere, after reinstallation of that display on the screen of the disk resource is as it is in 'Safe Mode '. I was aware of this. Therefore, the search criteria screen resources drive was a little bigger than the screen of the monitor. I managed to its size to fit the screen, but this really isn't the problem, is the following: the search criteria options I have in the dropdown menus (on screen) are the following:

System model: all, DXC061, DXP0G1 Dimension, Dimension E521, DM061, Dimension C521, XPS710 (who, if necessary, to choose?)

Operating system: (I think I got this one) all, Windows XP

Topic: (maybe this one too), Dell Diagnostics, Diagnostics, drivers, Applications, utilities

For the life of me I can't understand the correct drivers, I am to install *. Windows XP appears in the menu of the operating system. I know enough about the order of installation, but as I said, I'm a little confused on the selection of the drivers from the disc. This computer is not connected to the internet at the moment so I can't download and use any kind of pilot program. Other research have confused me more far and provided no precise answer to this problem.
If anyone can enlighten me on the solution step by step to this (I think "Dell resource disk for Dummies"), I would be extremely grateful.

    Thank you all!

    * If it will help, I went in (with "Show Hidden Files" active) Device Manager and it shows (with the yellow question mark) are:
Other devices: Ethernet Controller, multimedia Audio Controller, video controller (VGA Compatible).

You need, in the order of installation:

    1. Driver Chipset
    2. Video driver (depends on what video card)
    3. Audio driver
    4. Network driver (depends on who you are)
    5. Modem driver, if you are using a modem

Go to the Support page and put in your Service tag. He expected to give you the drivers you need. You can download them to any PC and copy it to a USB key for installation on 2350.

You only need applications, if you actually use them (for example, Roxio, Jasc Paintshop, etc.).

Then install your antiviral software and get in line on the Microsoft Update site for all patches and updates.

Please keep in mind that XP is no longer supported by Microsoft, and they stopped release of the security fixes for XP and IE9, more than 1 year. So they're all two full of security holes and put your data personal in danger.

Norton was the original installation that came on the machine, but I removed that before starting the use of Trend Micro about 3 years ago

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. If you have not already done so:

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

Hello. I have a custom computer I upgraded from xp to Windows 7 Home Premium. Everything worked perfectly before the upgrade. It says "code OxC004C008 and 28 for the NTativrv01". then another message said: "PCI simple communications controller - no driver; then "Mlti-media conroller does not have a pilot.  appreciate any help I can get. Thank you

1 a helpful to take before step same you've solved these problems is to create two alternative accounts protected by password Admin-level.

    • Accounts of users & their safety are taken much more seriously in Windows 7 so the tricks we learned under XP can not help us any more.
    • [No matter what account can suffer from corruption of the profiles user and if it's your main account and you have no spare Admin account to access the system, then you have a serious problem that we are not even allowed to advise you in this forum other than to suggest a complete reinstall of Windows 7].
    • If you have these two alternative accounts then, because they are rarely used, they are less likely to suffer from the corruption that is in use.
    • So even if you have problems in your account you can then log in as one of them and solve the problem.
    • You must write the passwords and ensure the safety of the sheet of paper.  You could do 'Password' reset disks instead, but they are not more effective than a piece of paper and they will also have to be stored somewhere in the place safe.

    2. did you run the Windows 7 compatibility checker before the upgrade?  You can start now and its results will always help you.  See Windows 7, 8.1, 10 compatibility tests for Windows XP, Vista - WiKi

3 then see where to find the hardware drivers to treat your problems with your multimedia controller etc.

4 once you get these things sorted, then you want to probably ensure that you get a Windows 10 forced update before you're ready - see disable Windows 10 improvement and ignore someone who starts to tell disable you updates specific Windows or turn off Windows update itself because it's all nonsense.

5 like many of us when we arrived first of XP, you reach not used 'images of the system' which is worth doing as soon as you have a system worth preserving - so you probably want to turn it off until you have fixed your problem with drivers hardware.

    • You can make an image of the system in less than half an hour.
    • You can restore an image system in less than half an hour and thus replace problems based on software, including problems of drivers, who have appeared on your computer.
    • Search for create a system image using Windows to get an introduction to & use,
    • Then go into Control Panel, [view by - small icons, if necessary], Backup & Restore for the link on the left side to create a system image to run the utility.
    • Note that you should not make the system repair disc which will find references to your Windows 7 installation disc can do what a system repair disc can [etc.].
    • Target the most convenient & reliable to record images of system on is an external hard drive.  An image of the system does not have the external hard drive to any target, so it can also be used for other purposes such as the storage of your current file backups.
    • Rewritable DVD is not as reliable and you need several whenever you made a new image.
    • Utility of third to party system images can be better that the built-in Windows utility I use Acronis TI which has a very good reputation.  Macrium Reflect free edition also has a good reputation.  But you can start with the built-in utility, and then you worry about the alternatives later.

    All the best,

    Denis

None of my USB sticks work, says no driver installed.  Troubleshooting report says "windows update configured in a way to never install drivers". How can I fix?

    Hi Phil,

Thank you for your update on the issue.

    1. Have you tried to connect your USB stick with all the USB ports on your system?
    2. You are able to install all Windows updates.

As you have tried to choose the option always to install the best driver from Windows Update software already, I suggest once, click the radio button for Yes, this automatically (recommended), save changes and check if the problem persists.

Also, I suggest you try to remove and reinstall all USB controllers and check with the question.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.
    5. Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.
