Windows 8 and McAfee Firewall

I want to buy a computer, Dell laptop, Inspiron, Windows 8...  It comes with a 1 month McAfee trial.  I have 11 month subscription McAfee Antivirus Plus left the old XP, which I no longer use.

I only am not in computer science so I thought I would keep the Trial Version of 1 month on the new window 8 for a few weeks until I get used to the new operating system. That would be the correct procedure to change more point?

1 uninstall the evaluation version of McAfee 1 month of new laptop Windows 8.

2 upload my own account on the new Windows 8 McAfee - click 'Turn off' the old XP and then click 'Download' to upgrade the anti-virus more to Windows 8.

3. then, uninstall anti-virus more old XP.

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Hi NOLLEEE,

Below the instructions are to MacAfee site, that's what I did even

  1. From your old computer (if still available), uninstall your McAfee software using the control panel.

NOTE : You must remove McAfee from the old computer software or it will be piracy.

  2. The computer that you want to install your software, open a web browser and access the site Web of MacAfee
  3. Log in using the e-mail address and the password that you have registered.

If you do not have a McAfee account, choose new user? Register now, follow the instructions to create your McAfee account, then click on connect.

NOTE: If you want to the McAfee Web site remember your username select Remember Me.

  4. Click the plus (+) icon.
  5. Select the computer and click Download.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to restart your computer when you are prompted.

Good luck!

  • McAfee Firewall will stay not on; Cannot turn on the firewall of Windows 7; Computer keeps restarting; and I can't access a file because my computer says I don't have permission

I use McAfee Firewall as my firewall.  Now when I try to turn it on, it continues for less than a second, then turns off.  Firewall Windows also not be.

My computer rebooting in itself guard so I can't complete a virus scan.  In one place, he suggested I have try in Safe Mode, but it didn't work (and he told me that it did not work because I couldn't connect to the internet).  I tried "Safe Mode with networking" and he would not even let me scan.

Another thing, the last time that I tried to scan it got stuck on "Internet C:\Windows\SysWOW64A\config\systemprofile\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary / / Desktop.ini.  This makes me think that this could be the problem, so I tried to get him to put the file in "VirusTotal.  I was able to get to him before that I got the idea to put it in "VirusTotal" but now it won't let me and he says:

"You don't have currently not allowed to access this folder."

"Click Conitnue to have permanent access to this folder."

When I try to click on "Continue", it only ever through.

I tried to change the 'Owner' under 'Security' tab but it still doesn't work, so I can't check to see if the file is a virus.

Should I try to download a new antivirus program to scan my computer?

Sorry if this is in the wrong category.  I have so many problems, it is not easy to categorize.

    Uninstalling McAfee completely.

Do not use any product that claims to make your computer run better.  Almost all of them are either false, themselves, an infection, or put your computer at risk. Delete everything that claims to be there to prevent the infections or pretends to make your computer work better, except for the singular than an antivirus product.

It is a controversial topic, but your choice of AV software may be something you want to take a 2nd look.  I suggest you visit this website to get an idea of what AV software made the best work, depending on what type of user you are: http://www.av-comparatives.org/ is a non-profit that has been around for a long time and I hope that their results.

When you interpret these results, remember the difference between a product that detects 95% and the other 99% of infections, it is actually 5 times more likely to allow an infection.

I pick up after about 150 Windows PCs and I have more than 13 years.  Until last September, the only AV software that I would allow my clients to use was Norton Antivirus.  Note that this is not the same as any other product, Norton 360 or Internet Security.  My clients rarely know infections.

Last September, Symantec (Norton owner) decided to no longer sell such a product.  After much research, I decided on Bitdefender Antivirus 2015 +.  I installed it on most of these PCs to date and has never been a problem, and it has been on a course of about 11 months now...  It is a better product than Norton.  It is also cheap. One of the things I love the most about it, is the silence and discretion.  Especially if silenced you its function "portfolio".

My customers know that if they install any product of 'Internet Security', I won't work on their computers until it is deleted.  Very well, I learned the hard way that other components of these products (other than the AV itself) IS causing more problems than any profit that they bring and work mainly by stopping the Windows component that does a very good job of this particular task still.  The problem is that when I started to work on a computer with an IS on it, I could spend hours trying to diagnose the problem, only to find out that by taking the product of the IS, the problems have become much clearer and easier to solve.  I think that the product of the IS actually hides the problem.

As I said, this is a controversial topic and you will find many different very strong opinions.  I know that mine is based on a fairly large sample over a long period, and are consumers of consumer type Windows.

Please note.  You should never have more than one protection software installed.  Always make sure that you completely remove the firmware all protection before installing a new one.  That contains software that may have come preinstalled on your computer when it's new

Totally impossible to delete most of all AV software simply by using the standard uninstallation tool Windows 7.  Most of the majors also publishes a "removal tool" that gets the rest.  If you do not completely remove it, it will cause very hard to understand and diagnose problems.

  • Windows 7 Action Center indicates that Windows and McAfee Antivirus & Firewall are both disabled.

    Original title: Jlj1952

My Windows 7 Action Center indicates that Windows and McAfee Antivirus & Firewall are both disabled. McAfee analysis shows that everything works. Looking @ my control panel shows Microsoft Firewall is enabled. Can someone tell me why I started getting these messages that no protection exists? Thank you.

    Kind regards

    James

    Hi James,

1 did you change on your computer?
    2. do you get an error message?

This problem could be related to Mcafee. Please temporarily disable Mcafee and check.

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

If the problem does not persist, then there are certainly problems with Mcafee protection. In this case, please contact Mcafee support for assistance.

    Just reply with the results.

    Thank you

  • I keep on getting error 0x6D9 and 0 x 80070424 code when you try to activate my windows firewall, also my mcafee firewall does not work.

I keep on getting error 0x6D9 and 0 x 80070424 code when you try to activate my windows firewall, also my mcafee firewall does not work. I have Windows 7 and it started only caused since last week. Can someone give me an idea on how to solve this problem?

When you have McAfee running, he provided the Firewall & automatically deleted the Windows Firewall.   Panel\Windows Firewall control page should have shown a message say.  If you managed to change the settings for the Windows Firewall then you might have corrupted both the McAfee & Windows Firewall.

I really think you should try a restore for some time point before you tried modifications, if that is even possible.

If you have uninstalled McAfee Control Panel, programs, then you must also run the Tool McAfee Consumer Product Removal or you will get several unpredictable problems.

If you still have problems after running the McAfee tool then it could be the result of the previous Windows Firewall changes & the corruption of the system resulting.  Your system is in an unknown state as a result of these changes.

You can try running SFC/scannow in an admin command prompt, but it wouldn't do any good.

You may need to use the installation DVD to do a repair installation.  I hope get you lucky, but you may need to do a complete reinstall of Windows.

How can I disable mcafee firewall and use windows defender in windows 8?

  • McAfee Firewall and analysis

I have a Center B520 idea with the following installed: -.

NET BT more (McAfee) installed through my Internet BT package

Upgrade of Windows 8 (which has updated to Windows 7, which was originally installed)

Last week, a message appeared telling me that the McAfee Firewall and Anti Virus have been disabled.

When I went to them I couldn't turn on them. I removed and then reinstalled BT Net more, but it has not fixed the problem.

I thought then that I would do a system restore to an earlier date, but at the end of the present, I got the following error message:

System restore failed during the removal of the following

    Path C:\Windows\System32\DRIVERS\b95df1c913bec87a.sys

    an unexpected error occurred 0x8007007b

I also seem to have lost the ability to restore the complete system for the default option.

Anyone has any ideas on what might solve this problem, and also, is there a way I can now restore the system to its original state with Windows 7

    Thanks for any help

    Hello solid,

Sorry for the delay in response. I tried what you said but not good. The problem was because I had installed Windows 8 Upgrade over the original factory installation Windows 7. This disables the restore a key.

I talked to technical Lenovo who pointed me in the direction of the restoration of disks. I now have these and have restored the computer back to its "factory settings (so the delay). The problem with McAfee has now been resolved.

I think that the computer has been infected by a virus, but the cleaning system all corrected now.

    Thanks for your help.

  • McAfee Firewall and anti-virus

I am currently using Comodo Firewall and Shield Deluxe 2009 anti-virus on Windows XP Home Edition software.  My information SIW and Belarc system) tells me that I do work with McAfee Firewall and antivirus as well.  I have not used McAfee for 4 or 5 years and used the removal of McAfee at the time tool.  I did C drive and registry research and came up with nothing.  Disabling the firewall in the Security Center windows, gives a message that McAfee it does not and I'm not protected.  Where McAfee?

    Refresh Security Center information:

Start > run > cmd [Enter]
    net stop winmgmt [Enter]
    CD /d %windir%\system32\wbem [Enter]
    repository.old repository ren [Enter]
    net start winmgmt [Enter]

It may take a minute or two to complete while WMI rebuilt the database or restart the computer.

  • Vista security question: my Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled

I have Vista Home Premium. I got to enter the Dell support center. "I think this is the first time that I did. It showed that I have Windows Defender on, but not the Windows Firewall and it does not show that I have McAfee Sequrity Version 9.15. My question is #1. My Windows Firewall must be on? The McAfee Firewall is enabled. #2 Why do the McAfee security information appear in the General Info tab or the Security tab I'm sorry if this is such a fundamental issue that I know enough about computers to be dangerous.

Thanks for any help in advance.

I don't know why McAfee is not in the Security Center.

I can only answer to your question n ° 1... to omit the Windows Firewall. McAffe has its own firewall. If you expand the firewall section of the Security Center, you can see this note:

Two or more firewalls at the same time may conflict with each other.
