  Thank you for your help. I think that I finally thought to it. By clicking on the icon my computer, it would show all available drives. One was removable storage drive I: WD Unlocker but it is only 7MB. After the installation of Windows 8, I had to click this drive tell him to unlock my WD J: drive. Once I did, I could see the folders and files but couldn't access it. I clicked on the I: drive and select Properties. He says that the disc was not shared so I said to share. Then I looked at the permissions and he says: read-only. Once I changed it to shared with full access, I can access now fully my WD J: will try to restart now and see if I still have access.
