Windows 8 disc locked; It does not start at the home screen, will not auto repair and doesn't give me access to safe mode

Nightmare; perfectly working windows 7 64-bit configuration I upgraded (stupidly) to Windows 8 (it seems installing a 32-bit version for my troubles). I installed a driver for a having previously worked USB WiFi adapter (that is, it was working fine before the upgrade) and now it does not start. It says "irql less than equal", says his collection of information and restarts to a kind of repair mode, none of the options which work because he complains that the hard drive is locked. Any attempt to start in SafeMode (SHIFT + F8) fails, with mnode security options panel shows ever in service options. Really, a very incomplete piece of software - I should know better than to install version #1 what whatsoever.

Suggestions for moving forward? No, I don't have a record of victory 8 because I updated my installation of windows 7 perfectly work in updating online.

Simple repair that has worked for me.

If you have a windows install disc (if you borrow 1 from a friend)

run the disk at startup, press on f9 to choose cd rom as boot, press a key when it asks you,

Let the disc to the refreshment of startup repair section, choose Advanced & go to the command prompt and type.

Bootrec.exe

Bootrec/fixmbr

Bootrec.exe/fixboot

Bootrec.exe/RebuildBcd

When all this is over, it will show that your o/s and the reader don't worry if it shows as D instead of C, it is because the system resource use C at this point, it will ask you if you want to add this player to your startup type Y and your good to go, your old win 8 will draw upward as it did before spread the word.

  • When I started my computer this morning, it ran chkdsk at startup, windows startup it goes immediately to chkdsk, it will be repeated again and again. I can boot into safe mode, but if I try to start windows normally it runs chkdsk and does not start

Windows does not start normally, just run chkdsk again and again

First test the hard drive to make sure it's healthy. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

    http://www.ImgBurn.com

    http://www.Seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/SeaTools/seatooldreg
    http://Seagate.custkb.com/Seagate/CRM/selfservice/search.jsp?docid=201271 (how-to)

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

If the hard drive then passes the physical tests, safe mode:
Start > run > cmd [Enter]
fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This will tell you if the disc is dirty or not. Then always in cmd:

chkntfs /x c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This tells Windows not not to check this drive at startup. Reboot and it should go on the desktop. Once Windows loaded, run cmd and:

Chkdsk /f /r c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

CHKDSK will run through all 5 steps. After that it's over, always in cmd:

fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

to see that the dirty bit is not set on this drive.

  • Windows recovery disc 8 (64) does not

I have a HP Pavilion (2223nr) g7 Win8 64-bit running. Some registry files have been damaged, and my restore points are missing. After trying everything I knew how, I ordered HP recovery discs. But they do not work. I'd rather do a refresh rather than wipe everything, but when he asks than drives and I put them in, it says "invalid recovery media" and does not go further.

Also, I checked the other posts similar to this, and nothing works for me. I even tried to do a full restore, refresh/recovery of boot (with f11), etc. Nothing seems to work. Does not seem related material. Everything worked fine until I tried to uninstall some adware using AdwCleaner. It failed and began to happen strange things: few applications have shown in Control Panel to uninstall programs, the computer wouldn't start for a while, shortcuts stopped working, tiles have disappeared, some programs were always installed, but couldn't be found, etc..

Why the HP recovery discs would not work (I'm sure I gave them good serial number)? And if I am finally able to do a full restore, I'll be able to get MS Office back (I have the license key, but not disks)? Is - included in the 'application and Driver Recovery DVD?

Well, I received including this one. Apparently the recovery disks, they sent me work as a single parameter. I was going through the options listed in the menu 'f11' to try for a refreshment or a full recovery. Instead, I should have read the instructions and you press "esc". The instructions on the disk are absolutely not working: "insert the disk into the optical drive of your computer and follow the on-screen instructions.» Made me no hand.

However, there was a sheet of paper that I should have paid attention to what is come with the drives. He gave the same instructions listed here (thanks, MathewT). I still don't know about ghosts discs that claim to give you the opportunity to refresh your computer without losing the files.

And thanks, but no thanks to HP and the 83 people who resembled this post while I thought about it. I hope that I have never post here again.

  • My screen must be rotated 90 degrees to see. OK screen when it starts, but the home screen is sideways.

My granddaugher has been using my computer for gaming and she did something which rotates the screen 90 degrees.  I opened an e-mail that read on the side, but the photos of enamel appeared normally.

High graphics most of range, the cards are equipped with display rotation built in and adjustable via display properties or via the display properties of the display icon in the Notification area (to the left of the system clock).  It is a nice feature if you want to read things more like a book on your laptop, etc.

Some examples would be ATI, NVIDIA, Intel, Matrox, S3, XGI...  These adapters can be integrated into your system, and not always his own card.

This phenomenon of rotation screen sometimes inadvertently some keystrokes (the cat walked on my keyboard).

Pressing on the keys Ctrl-Alt top/arrow down arrow rotates screen 90 degrees at a time for some graphics (like NVIDIA) cards

If this does not work, we will need to know your system brand and model and see if we can look at the rotating screen for you shortcut keys.

  • Windows 10 restore to Win7 does not start

Installed (upgraded) to Windows 10 and he ran very well in the beginning.  After a few days it started to act buggy (taskbar has stopped responding, etc.) so I decided to go back to Windows 7.

I started to restore and he arrived at the final stage, and he said he could not complete the operation - he couldn't fix my Win7 startup file.

So I tried a system repair from the installation discs for Win7 Hm Pemium.  First, he said he repaired the system - but it would still not start upward.  Got a 7F error BSOD Stop (0d, 0, 0, 0).  Do you have the system repair again and now it is in an infinite loop and reset my system start-up.

I called MS Tech support Win and downloaded a Win10 ISO.  A ran this system reconstruction/repair - and it only gives me the opportunity to do a repair (recovered) Win 7.  So I tried it and it's still in a boot loop.

I suggest that you use your Windows 7 Home Premium installation disc and perform a custom installation. Perform a custom installation just in case you have data on the drive that you would recover as:

    Hi all

My CAPS LOCK key does not work on my laptop series satellite P50-A-14F. Just realized while writing an email that does not work, so is more or less sudden. Nothing has been spilled on it. Here's what I've checked so far:

-green light indicating that CAPS is LOCKED turn everything on by pressing the key on the keyboard of the screen
-Keyboard backlight does not start when I press the button, but it works for the key itself when you press a button any.
-try a clean boot but no results.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Hello

    > Just realized while writing an email that does not work, so is more or less sudden.

Have you tested the button LOCKING of upper CASE using different software: Web browser, by word or any other editor?
How about using the external keyboard?

From my point of view, there are two possible malfunctions: either there is a problem with the software that you use or the internal keyboard works badly simply and in this case, the replacement of keyboard will solve the problem.

You could test the external USB keyboard. In case the button LOCKING of UPPER USB external keyboard functions, then the internal keyboard needs to be replaced for sure.

Go to your computer manufacturer's support web site

If there are Windows XP drivers, then download to a folder on your hard drive and burn it to a CD/DVD.

the windows boot configuration data file does not contain a valid entry os

How do I solve this problem

    Hello

Assuming that it's just a problem with the recovery media, here's another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( it must be the same version that originally shipped with your laptop - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, that is the file you need to download ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly file on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Image is - Digital River.

    Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

All pilots additional and the software you may need are located by entering your full model number or Nr here.

    Hello

As you are able to boot to the desktop in Mode safe, it means that the third-party application prevents the computer from starting in normal mode. To check you can configure the computer to clean start State and then try to boot into normal mode and check what is happening. To set up its own start-up follow the link below.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

If the problem does not continues when the computer is in the clean start State follow the steps listed to identify which application is causing the problem.

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

    Hope this information is useful.
