Windows 8 error 80070005 - continues to be although update "not necessary."

Hello

I get the error code 80070005 when you try to download and install the following hotfix:
Update for Windows Defender - KB2267602 (definition 1.165.1710.0 definition
Whenever I run the troubleshooter, who always says the following:
Error in database that can be updated Windows found 0 x 80070490 - fixed
Windows Update components need to be repaired - fixed
Then I click "Try again" in the window that appeared when the update has failed. He then said "updates have been installed. Is not necessary: 1 update. »
However, exactly the same thing happens the next time I run Windows Update, I think this update IS necessary!
In short, I have two problems-
1. 80070005 guard appearing for the same update.
2. the database error 0 x 80070490 does NOT seem to be determined by the resolution of problems.
Help, please! I looked at the other messages in discussion about 80070005 in general, but have not found a solution. My account is an administrator.
Thank you in advance,
KatieH4

Hi Katie,

The 80070005 error means usually you do not have permission appropriate to run the update. The update that you are trying to install is necessary.

Before you start with the troubleshooting steps, I would like to know if you have installed a third-party security software on your computer.

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it works for you.

Method 1:

Try the steps in the Microsoft Help article and check following.

Error 0 x 80070005 in Windows Update when you try to install updates:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/968003/en-us

Method 2:

Try the steps in the following Microsoft Help article and check if it helps.

Error code 0 x 80070490 when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates:

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/958044/en-us

Method 3:

If you have installed a third-party security software on your computer, then I suggest you to try to temporarily disable and check if the problem persists.

Warning: If you need to temporarily disable the security software, you should reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Please reply with the status of the issue, so that we can better help you.

    Summary of the issue:

We are aware of a potential problem that you may experience with the latest updates to Office security.   When you install these updates, the Windows Update control panel returns the error 646 or 0 x 80070646.

    Technical details:

Error 0 x 80070646 or 646 is a MSI installer error that won't happen when the updates are installed via the Windows Update control panel.  Workaround solution previous to solve the immediate problem requires the installation of the update to a standalone package starting from Microsoft Download Center.  We do not recommend this workaround solution.

If the Windows Installer logging is enabled, the following line must be identified as a symptom:

Error 1606. Could access the location %APPDATA%\ network

    Cause:

The problem is potentially a result of an incompatible, incorrect environment (%AppData%) as variable shown below:

    Solution:

    1. open the registry editor.  To do this, click Start, type regedit in the search box, and then click regedit.exe in the list programs. In the user account control dialog box, click on continue.

2 go to the following registryHKEY_USERS\ keys. DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

    3. the correct and should be the default value forAppData % USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming. To edit the value, double click on Appdata, then change the string in the value data field.

    4. close the registry editor, and then try Windows Update again. (A restart article be required).

    5. If the problem persists, repeat the steps 2 to 4 with the registry keys:

    ·        HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

    ·        HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell dossiers\

If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.

    There is nothing to worry.

Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.

If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually activate new Windows (do not take into account information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):

  • Office Live add-in 1.5 update not necessary, but continually trying to update

I have problems with the sequence of Microsoft Office Live Add-in 1.5 update.

I use a 64 bit version of Windows 7.  I already had the updated Microsoft Windows service to start (to delay) at startup.  I changed it to start immediately at startup now.

I checked to see that the program Microsoft Office Live is in the list programs and features.  I checked in MS Word 2007 (I have Office Enterprise 2007) and save to Office Live and open from Office Live are both present in the menu "file".  These data suggest that the program works correctly.

My problem is the following: install the Windows Update detects the Microsoft Office Live Add-in 1.5 is an "important" update  I accept the terms of the license, and when the update will download and installation and the Manager gives me a Green Shield saying 'updates have been installed correctly.  Under this message, the details of the particular update say '' not necessary ''.  A few seconds later, the Windows Update Manager detects that an update is needed and is going through exactly the same process.  I can do this 20 times in a row and he will do exactly the same thing.

I would like to install the new update, or find the source of the problem that leads this snap to update, but leads to an empty sequence.  What is a registry problem?  Y at - it a bug related to this Add-in particular?

Could be a viral problem?  I ran a OneCare security sweep that brought some questions of registry, but no virus problems, but eventually these problems solved and a 2nd scan after reboot gave no error.

I ran Malware Bytes, Microsoft Security Essentials and an AVG scan (after you have uninstalled the MOUSE of the computer... I don't keep these 2 on the computer at the same time in the event of a conflict would be.)  Each of these tests came back negative.

I run the sequence of update via a wireless connection is firewalled by a customer of Cisco NAC, which requires the MSE will be installed on the computer.  I take part the powers appropriate to the connection and can surf the net, download updates to 3rd party software and install other updates to Windows, such as the definitions of MSE updates.

Please thank you in advance for your help and advice.

If your PC is OEM that his pain, because you can only use recovery CD to restore the original state, which means that you must back up all data before restoring.

Most often this error 0 X 8007002 is related to the corruption of the file system that system preparation tool or SFC/scannow is not able to fix so the only option is step mentioned above (upgrade inplace or what we call previous repair installation)

  • Error 80070005 after installation of driver update

    From: surfer100

I've lived (literally) six laps with HP support chat, try several ways to uninstall and reinstall, also without success.   They practically abandoned.

The resolution of the monitor is fine... but I can't use all of its features, because the display software will not work.

Then, suddenly, automatic update of windows offered this update driver... which will not be installed.

Then... I suspect that the problems are related.

Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

    From: surfer100

I found that disable the program data execution prevention in Vista, lets now HP my display software works correctly!

I turned Data Execution Prevention on OFF, execept for essential windowsservices by going to control panel, click System, click on the system protection, click on the Advanced tab, click settings, click data execution

Prevention tab and then click "turn on DEP for essential Windows programs...". »

This problem of HP my display software does not, as well as several other programs began only a few months ago. So I guess that a security update changed the DEP for always on for everything... so if any program would run is not "compatible" with DEP it does not work... and the error message

    will not tell you!
