I installed 2 updates.
I installed both of them using the standalone installer which.
First, I checked the updates using Windows updates and then installer of stand-alone download from the link more information if I can use this update later. Here are the 2 updates I try to install:
1 Windows8-RT-KB2756872 - x 64
2 Windows8-RT-KB2768703 - x 64I rebooted my system after installing the updates.
Windows configures updates up to about 30% and the system gets stopped and restarted.
Then he went it 100% and all of a sudden, I got a message something like:
"Failure of Windows updated. Changes in return ".
It is just returnedHere are all the logs files (CBS.log, WindowsUpdate.log, WindowsUpdate (1) .log)
http://bobdn.com/files/logs.zipPlease tell me how can I get the update installed successfully.
I finally solved my problem with the update kb2756872 ("update failed, returning of changes"). It was caused by the reserved partition Windows is not set to active (I dual boot using GRUB). Go to the Control Panel-> administrative tools control->-> computer managementdisk management and make sure that the reserved partition is marked 'Active'. This also solves many other problems I experienced as not able to activate Windows startup settings.

How can I keep windows update to change the location of folders of rediredcted
My work computer is in a domain. I am running Windows XP Pro SP3. Due to the large size of the 'My pictures' folder I redirected it to on of my local readers rather than let him lie on our server (Windows 2003 SBS). I also redirected "My music" folder on a local drive and the 'My Favorites' folder on the server where the "My Documents" folder is also. It works very well without any problem, most of the time. In some way, some, but not all, windows updates will change the location of the "My pictures" folder on the server. When this happens, I know that as soon as I login after the reboot because it will take about an hour before the computer can be used. The reason for this is that the folder is moved (not copied) on the server with a connection to ethernet 100 base-T. My another stay of redirected folders where they are supposed to be, just the 'My pictures' folder is moved. I tried to find all the registry entries that have to do with the location of this folder and found only two, those who originally, I changed to redirect the folder in the first place. This has happened for the 4th time, when I greeted Windows Update to install the latest updates last night (13/02/13). It becomes very boring and time would trust because I have to put the folder on the local drive and reset the folder redirection and the whole process takes about an hour, plus time lost after reboot. Help please.

I bought a new laptop (Toshiba Satellite C55-A5281) with window 8. Once through the new normal computer set up, I saw that there were 108 updates for Windows 8. Yes, it's a hundred and eight! OK, may as well do before loading anything on the new computer, right?
Hours and hours later... I was always in an infinite loop. I've been through all this hit F8 once forcing them to close and restart upward... then made the deal of refreshing to try to fix. Then, I started the whole update process on and got the same thing... Hours later, once again. I actually let it run all night. Same ugly loop once again.
Maybe doing 102 updates at the same time, it is not a good idea. But I have no idea of those who to try to do first. Or exactly how just a little at a time. And if I have to do one at a time, and each takes hours, I can't live that long...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I knew before Windows 8 would be a challenge... but unfortunately it seems a lot harder than I expected.
I did the full restore... and then did a full reformat reset it all back at the factory.
Then I did some updates at once instead of 102 all at once. It took forever, but seems to work. Then I got a notice of update to Windows 8.1. I did that as well (took hours) and everything seems to work now. I have probably 20 hours of downloading (and wait) and the download time (and waiting) with this. I hope it's over and I can go on living it normal.

Failure to configure the updates on Windows 8
Whenever I try to update my laptop windows8, it installs the updates, restart, fails to set them up and go back. I have the laptop plugged into the wall and the ethernet cable to ensure that there is no interruption in the diet or by internet. I'm kinda a waste since I can't go to 8.1 without having to install updates 1. I tried to go into the settings of update, but it fails to do so by using this too. What is McAfee? Hi Emyrshah,
Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site.
Try to do a restore Vista DVD system.
To restore the system from DVD
(i) to start the computer from the Windows installation disc
(II) Windows will automatically run the disk is empty, and will load the files; This can take some time. Windows Vista Setup will begin charging.
(III) now, select your language, time and currency Format installation, as well as the type of keyboard, once you are happy with the settings, click on 'NEXT' to continue.
(IV) the next screen click 'Repair your computer' to continue. Windows will now search an Installations of Windows.
(v) on the next screen select the operating system on which you want to do a repair. Select it, and then press 'NEXT' to continue
(VI) you are in the menu "Recovery Options.
(VII) in the "Recovery Options" menu select "SYSTEM RESTORE".
(VIII) the menu "Restore files and settings" is displayed, click 'NEXT' to continue.
Now in a 'Restore Points' selection select one that you want to restore too. Then click "NEXT" to continue. You are now given an option to restore the other disks as well as the operating system drive. If you have no problem with them, then just restore the main drive.
(IX) now you need to confirm the restore point. Click "FINISH" to continue or "BACK" to select another drive or restore point. You are now prompted one last time to confirm that you want to continue. Click 'YES' to continue or 'NO' to select a different drive or restore point.

Once this done, tell whether she succeeded it, if so click "RESTART" to restart the computer, if it's not then try a different date.
Once rebooted and you get on the desktop, you will receive a confirmation of the success of restorations. Click 'CLOSE' to continue.Diana

It was the first time that I am trying to update my laptop of Lenovo G500s which is come with 8 windows pre installed, before installing the updates, I have restored the laptop if you default factory using Lenovo a recovery key. While the updates are being installed I received a message 'Fail configuration Windows updates reverting changes'. It lasted for an hour. When I tried to install updates again the same message appeared. My laptop came pre-installed with Nitro Pdf 8 and Mcafee Internet Security, so I have even uninstalled them, I also ran Mcafee Consumer Product Removal Tool. But the problem with windows update remained. I then ran the convenience store update Windows that sets these two problems:
fix windows update fixed the database and repair misconfigured update windows components, but this solves nothing. Later I discovered that although the resolution of update problems show that the problems have been solved but convenience store running immediately shows again the same problems.
So this time I ran again the recovery system, and immediately after the system recovery windows update of convenience store that showed the problems mentioned above two updates of windows.
Is it so that means the recovery partition itself contains other problems that my problem would have been solved, what do I do to fix this?
