Windows 8 for Windows xp update fails at 90% and does not start.

I read the below and see if there are solutions.

I paid for 1 hour to help Microsoft Tech to take on my desktop computer and at the end

He said there are so many chat lines, he could not follow after clicking on install.

He beat anything, antivirus, I disconnected all devices except the mouse and keyboard.

Of course the update, which I downloaded and confirmed with their diagnosis that the

computer has been updated failed 90% and would not restart.

When I went to system logs, I even tried to disable restore.

Nothing helps.

I think there must be something which is not allow restarting after installation.

The message just says: failed to install. No diagnosis or whatever it is.

If a Microsoft technology, which grabbed my computer couldn't do work I'm close to trying to get

my money back and stopped a complete package. I don't have to Microsoft backup disk, which
I'll try again.

Once again: problem is installation of Windows 8 reaches 90% and then only will fail.

... Install only Windows 8 reaches 90% and then fails.

Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade a Windows XP-based computer or install Windows 8 (.1).

Please post future questions about the installation of Windows 8 in this forum-online http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-windows_install

First test the hard drive to make sure it's healthy. Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility downloaded from site of the disc mftr. or use SeaTools for BACK of Seagate. You create a bootable CD with the files you download. You will need a third party burning software to do as the free ImgBurn, Nero or Roxio. Burn as an image, not in the form of data.

Boot with the CD that you have done and do a full test of the reader. The physical tests fail, replace it.

If the hard drive then passes the physical tests, safe mode:
Start > run > cmd [Enter]
fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This will tell you if the disc is dirty or not. Then always in cmd:

chkntfs /x c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

This tells Windows not not to check this drive at startup. Reboot and it should go on the desktop. Once Windows loaded, run cmd and:

Chkdsk /f /r c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

CHKDSK will run through all 5 steps. After that it's over, always in cmd:

fsutil dirty query c: (or the appropriate drive letter) [Enter]

to see that the dirty bit is not set on this drive.

The wireless network card is enabled with the hardware switch on the computer laptop and FN + F8? Check this box!

Additionally, make sure that the latest driver on the Toshiba site is installed, and check the settings of the wireless network adapter TCP/IP.

    Hello

In all likelihood, you are infected with malware.

    You need an Antivirus.

It works just not by mistake, or you have not installed?

If you have not installed, why don't download you and install Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free, or the free version of Avast Antivirus to keep your camera protected?

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  • Solitaire T please help! Update of El Capitan: Bootcamp does not start

I have a MacBook Pro with a bootcamp Windows 7 partition. Windows 7 was working fine until I upgraded Mac OS 10.7.5 to 10.11.3 El Capitan. Now, the Windows 7 partition does not appear in system preferences > boot floppies or hold down the option key at startup.

I tried your steps to Re: [help] can't start Windows (8.1) after resizing partition

In my case, I installed gdisk and set the partition 4 (Microsoft Basic data) is bootable. Saved and has written the MBR, restarted the laptop, hold down option and still no display HD windows up to start from. Even tried to set all 4 partitions (i.e., recovery, EFI + Mac + Windows) to be bootable. Still does not work. Mac OS X system preferences > boot floppies does not display the windows partition. DiskUtility in Mac still shows the windows partition (~ 374). The drive is ~ 500G.

  • RAID-1 failed, the second drive does not start in RAID

I bought a Dell 531 running Vista with RAID1 set up on two 300 GB drives.

And that works very well... but then the first disc got a bad place.

    Ideally, I could unplug this drive and run the other player;

However, the second disc has a RAID boot sector!

[he has a normal boot sector, so if I plug it into the unused (non-RAID) SATA-3 slot, it will start]

Should be no problem, just start the recovery DVDs and let Vista install a good start...

But NO!  The DVD version does not see the drive.  (I tried to load the sataraid drivers, no joy)

Note: if I have the drive failed in the RAID and the second drive in SATA-3, it starts to SATA-3.

If I put the two drives on the RAID, it starts on the failed disk.

Now I have a replacement for the defective drive.

How to make 'good' initialization as a RAID drive and rebuild the new drive?

How can I get a boot sector capable of Vista/Raid on the disc?

  • Update Windows, stuck at step 3 of 3, does not start

    Hello

Reading the forums, so it seems I'm not the only one who had this problem, but none of the data seems to work for me.

My computer is running slow this morning (as sometimes when he treats a large update), so I restarted.  But now, whenever the system tries to start, it gets insofar as the message 'configuration updated step 3 of 3, 0% ' before it restarts in total.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium - I think that it is 32-bit, but I'm not positive.  I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV6345us.

I tried all suggested fixes, I found.  I tried to launch the Mode without failure (all versions of it), but every time it's the same thing.  I've never had to simplified office, I think I'm supposed to see.  I tried the system restore, but none of the dozen or so restoration work points.  After each attempt to restore the system, I get this error message: data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check) (0 x 80070017).

My last update was added on 06/05/10 at 09:16:38.  My last update before that was 05/03/10 at 14:31:18.  My time zone is set to GMT - 8:00 (or Pacific time).  Between the Windows updates, I downloaded an update for Java (Java 6 update 20) 04/05/10.

I have also run the memory diagnostic tool, but that has not changed anything.

I do not have any third-party malware or anti-virus software.

This is all the relevant information, I think I can give.  Any comments would be greatly appreciated, because I use my computer for work and need again as soon as POSSIBLE.

    Thank you!

I do not have any third-party malware or anti-virus software.

  • Windows load with black screen and does not start after windows updates

Original title: load windows normally screen will not continue

I went to my computer tower and I chose to install updates when closing.  I went back later to re - turn on my computer and now it loads to the top of the black screen that gives you 5 options. safe mode, safe mode with networking safe mode command prompt, windows loads normally and finally to load windows from last known configuration that works.  Problem is that none of these options work.  they all return me to the same screen.  Help this laptop came preloaded with Win XP Media Center edition and I can't get back to work.  IM assuming I need a XP disk support center but I can't find them anywhere! HELP PLEASE SOMEONE!

    Hi Burton089,

Your hypothesis is right. To resolve this problem, we need to repair your installation of Windows using the Windows XP disk. We recommend that you contact the manufacturer of the laptop to check if they have the Windows recovery disk.

Ok. I'll give you upwards.  Thank you very much for your advice.  Without it, I probably keep home and lose even more time.

I have no ability to mark my closed issue.  Can we "heavies" brand it closed for me?
