Windows 8 hang on the start menu.

Hi, normally the way I use my laptop computer running windows 8 is when I wake up before you do anything, I would like on my computer. Only after I finished with the detergent and breakfast start using it. However, for the past 2 days, I am trying to use, the screen would be just stuck in the start menu. I couldn't click on icons could go to the bar (where all options are) on the right and I couldn't even Ctrl Alt Del. I have to restart the computer first before being able to use the computer. If there is a way to solve this problem, let me know, thank you very much.

Matthew

The info is in the wiki.  You run WPR and it will record all the data when it restarts your computer.  You will then take the file (it will be BIG) and upload it to onedrive or any other file sharing service.

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. you receive an error message?

3 when was the last time it was working fine?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you perform a clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    Method 2

If the above step failsthenI suggests Mr scanner SFC on the computer that would scan for corrupt system files on the computer and replace them.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

  • Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

I managed to solve the problem.  I received an email from another user and I'm sorry to say, I do not remember what were the instructions in the email.  The answer to (y) our problem used to exist on the web, until Microsoft has removed the old answers live site, or something like that.

IIRC, I believe that it was fixing the misdirected registry keys.

    This might help: http://www.vistax64.com/live-mail/130368-re-cant-set-windows-live-email-outlook-default-email-program.html

  • Windows 7 Pro - WAU is missing from the start menu

Hello. Thanks in advance for your help. I have four computers with Windows 7 Pro. None of them are in a domain, and the users are administrators with disabled UAC.

A computer that I am wanting to upgrade to Ultimate does not show the "Windows Anytime Upgrade" in the start menu. WAU is in the other three systems start menus, but not this one. YES - I am an administrator and it is professional edition. NO - I'm not on a domain and have not tinkered with Group Policy settings.

When I go into the properties of the computer, the "get more features with a new edition of Windows 7" is also absent on the shot I want to improve. Any ideas?

Where did you get your Windows 7 Professional licenses? Is it volume licensing?

If you are unable to find the Express upgrade program, first of all, make sure that you are running a supported product, WAU is not compatible Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate because it is the most comprehensive editions of Windows 7. If you use the home edition Premium or professional and you are not able to find it, click Start > click on Control Panel. Click in the view by: list box and click large icons, then double-click the Anytime Upgrade Panel element.

WAU is supported in the distributions of volume of Windows 7 Professional license?

By default, it is disabled. It is likely, is likely to make an Express upgrade, but may be disabled by your network administrator in order to avoid upgrades of licenses for the company. Consulter consult with the person who manages your computer, find out if you can upgrade the machine.

If the administrator access to the machine, try the following, click Start, type: gpedit.msc, and then press on enter on your keyboard.

    Expand User Configuration

    Expand Administrative Templates

    Expand Windows components

    Click Windows Anytime Upgrade

Double-click on prevent Windows Anytime Upgrade of the race

Double-click on prevent Windows Anytime Upgrade to run, select enabled, and then click on apply and OK

    Exit group policy

    Click Start, type: gpupdate.exe/force

You must restart the computer and then you should be able to make an Express upgrade.

  • After the awakening of the mode standby, Thunderbird crashes if the start menu of windows 10 is open RESOLVED in version 38.3.0

If I have Thunderbird up and then I put windows in sleep mode, when I come back once again, the start menu in Windows 10 appears automatically (can someone tell me how to stop this?). If I click anywhere on the screen menu start disappears and everything works fine, but if I forget to do it and for example, double-click on an email to open it, Thunderbird and then freezes. If I close Thunderbird and re-open he, she, then it brings up the email that I had clicked on, so he must have tried to open it while it was frozen.
This isn't a big problem, just annoying bloom. Don't know if it's a problem of Windows 10 or Thunderbird. If someone can tell me how to stop start menu from popping up automatically, it wouldn't solve the problem, but it would be at least!

Version 38.3.0 is now available. Resolve the problem?
