    Backup of personal data (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then do a format and clean install of Windows.  Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

    -What version of IE are you using?
    -Have you been able to launch Internet Explorer successfully with no problems before?

    You should review seriously use IE for anything other than Windows Update. It's a malware magnet. Firefox or Chrome with blockers of advertising would be a better choice.

    It's easy, you have the same Internet Explorer as I do. Left-click on the icon of lock washer, then select Internet Options.     Thank you for your message.  How long these problems last?  If all of these symptoms have occurred recently, you can perform a System Restore to a point when your computer was functioning as designed.

    If a system restore does not resolve the problem, I think that you would be better served download and run the malicious software removal tool.

    After you run the tool, you will find that your computer is or is not infected with a virus or a virus.  At the same it is, please post on the forum Vista Security steps to return your PC to a usable state.

    Another way to ensure that your computer is 100% clean is to perform a new installation.  Don't forget that a new installation will delete all your data and the current settings.  You would need to save everything that is important before you perform a clean installation.
