I created a partition of HARD drive in order to install a system in multiboot using XP and Vista, but I did mess up the BONES of the two. Now I want to do a clean install of Vista ONLY, but I don't know how to get rid of the partition! * Example: Computer management > disk management > right-click on the volume (M) > Delete Volume * but I get an error: "Windows cannot delete the active system partition on this disk" can someone help me to get my Vista to original?

P.S. I have the "Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium32 - bit Operating System Disk" provided with my computer when I bought it new. Thank you! -Jeff

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

Delete the existing Partitions during the process.

    Hello

    1. at what stage of the installation, the computer crashes?

    2. what operating system was installed on your computer prior to this?

If you have the similar problem as mentioned in these links, you can follow these links and check if the problem persists:

Windows XP does not meet the Message "Setup starts Windows XP"

  • Does anyone know how to change windows to recognize the disks with 520 bytes per sector? Or one knows if Windows 7 will recognize no 512 bytes per sector drives? Reader vendors will move to larger areas in the future.

Windows does not recognize disks that are not 512 bytes per sector. Put readers at the point as unknown and I can't access it through the operating system. Is there something I can change to get Windows to recognize the disks that are not 512 bytes per sector?

    Hello MetalRain,

Thank you for your message.  Are you able to see the disks in disk management?  Try the following:
Click 'Start' > right click on 'My computer' > select 'manage '.
    Click on "disk management".
On the right, you see your drive?  If so, you can right click and it assign a drive letter.
Now you should be able to close this window and you can format your drive to NTFS, you can specify to change the bytes per sector 512 if you wish as seen HERE.
After assigning a drive letter, follow the steps below:
Click "Start" > click "Run" > type cmd in the text field and press "Enter."
In the command prompt, type format c:/FS: NTFS / a: 512 and press "Enter."
Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.

  • Windows cannot read the disk in drive c.

I recently bought 5 blank DVDs to burn files, but when I put the disk, it showed no AutoPlay, even if I check suggestions asking me every time, but when I double click on the CD player, it says this message, "Windows cannot read the disk in drive c." can someone help me with this problem?

Not all DVDs are the same, there are many different types and some DVD players may require a particular type

If the DVD is blank has nothing to read, that it is not formatted/prepared

With a dvd in the drive, in Solution Explorer, select a file, rt-click and select send to DVD, it works

  • can I use a serial key to install two windows 8 in the same system

If I double boot windows 8 on the same system. for activation, I use the same key for the two installation.
    is this possible?

    Hello

Windows 8 comes with only on product key (license) that can be activated on a computer at the same time. If you want to enable another computer with him, then he must be uninstalled from any other computer first.
The fact above, as I know, the installed on another partition of Windows 8 will become the second computer and unfortunately you can not use the same key.
Hope this helps, good luck :)

Depends on if you can get the drivers for your Windows 2000-compatible hardware; you need to verify that hardware manufacturers laicists site to check the drivers. Most of the hardware manufacturers are not even the creation of drivers for Windows XP that is newer than Windows 2000.

  • Error: Windows cannot access the disk.

I burned a dvd backup of certain data (downloads, bookmarks, photos etc.) files using windows drag and drop in the dvd player.

The burn has been successful I was able to use it immediately, however, on the second (and subsequent) attempts to access the files burnt a windows error appears indicating that windows cannot access the disk.

Like all other discs are able to be accessible to all without problems, there is no problem with dvd players?

Please let know us that it's the only backup I have these files.

whenever I tried to insert a dvd disc the message "windows cannot access the disk" is shown in this dvd, there's some data. Whenever I check the properties, the size is displayed.

If the DVD does not work with other disks and other DVD works with current DVD player, then the problem is with the DVD itself.
