Windows 8 - recovery disks do not work with the new hard drive

My HDD had major errors of io only 1 month laptop warranty. I can't clone the original disc, its dead. I'm relatively new to Win8 but I bought the factory HP recovery disks for my model and have tried repeatedly to restore the OS win8 without success even after support technical advice ofHP and several friends with more experience than me (and I got an A + cert for more than a decade)-I have no idea why he keeps fails. I ordered another set of discs and tried another new hard drive. The log shows all the hardware in the way and a sysprep not found error at the end. What Miss me?

Problem solved! After another half-dozen recovery more attempts and lose more money on a new HP certified hard drive with the correct part number, I decided to give up Windows 8 and turn this laptop in a Hackintosh, I now on Mac OS X!  Microsoft has gone too far now, only not with the security of windows, instead of trying to make sure they get every penny they can from each PC running windows. His self defeat really. Those who cannot or do not want to pay the cost will simply find an alternative. I'm just tired of the headaches and of constantly having to spend my precious time proving that I have a valid OS license for every computer that I've updated or repair. Forcing people to buy the same item several times is aggravating and false. Sorry, just fan frustration.

    Hello, everyone.

I have a laptop HP (pavilion dv7-1245dx) and the hard drive is dead. I had never gotten to burn my recovery disks, so I ordered new ones from HP. When I installed the new hard drive and popped in the disk to reinstall the operating system, it gave me the error message:

The original hard drive was a Hitachi, 320 GB SATA

EDIT: Trying to recover a Vista operating system

For anyone who has the same problem, I found a solution. I cloned the original hard drive using the Clonezilla fallback option. After using Clonezilla to image on the new hard disk, the partition which held that most of the data of the laptop is not mountable, however the partition containing the restore partition was a perfect copy. I turned on the computer, hit escape to access the menu (for a list of options such as boot order, etc, which included an option for recovery), and then choose recovery option. While the recovery discs, I received from HP refused to work with the new hard drive, the Vista restored cloned recovery partition without flaw.

  • Satellite L30: CD player does not work with the new HARD drive

    Hello

Just bought a new drive to HARD drive of 250 GB to transform my L30-115 has a home server.

My problem is when both the new HARD disk drive DVD/CD-RW drive of origin are inserted into L30, the computer crashes and I can not even get into the BIOS (I have the latest edition).

However, when I disconnect the CD player, system boots fine in a system of operating "plain" (command-line only) - BIOS recognizes very well and everything is fine. Idem: as I disconnect the HARD drive and connect the CD player, I am able to work (for example with a live linux system).

The question is: * how to install a Windows operating system to a new HARD disk drive *? There is no option to boot from USB. What else can we do? I'm not going to invest more money into this old machine. I would like to install the Windows Home Server in there. There is no need to use the CD player later (all other operations will be performed by the network).

Person not answering, so I'll do it.

I was able to boot from USB external floppy drive, so the solution is to boot from external CD drive and install the system.

It is not an exact solution, because the internal optical drive must be removed, so I'm looking forward to see updates to the BIOS level or other solutions for Toshiba.

  • recovery disc will work with the new hard drive

I have a HP Pavilion dm4. My hard drive died so I installed a new hard drive. The original operating system installed on the computer is Windows 7. I don't have a Windows 7 disc with the computer. If I order the Windows 7 HP recovery disk, it will install Windows 7 on my new hard drive? I got the info from COA. Thanks for any help you can provide.

If the new hard drive is having even or a larger size than the old, recovery disks will reinstall the factory OS on your new drive.

  • SMU 8108 does not start with the new hard drive

    Hello

    I am currently using SMU 8108 with SMU-1062 q.

The previous record was borken, so I had to install a new hard drive.

The new hard drive is fommatted as NTFS format, and it is currently mounted on 8108.

Unfortunately, I don't have recovery disk available to the general public so I am trying to install Windows 7 on a blank hard drive.

When you start, the LED OK PWK light is all the time, orange DRIVE LED turns on for a few seconds only when I turn on the switch.

LabVIEW RT switches are all off, I cleared CMOS several times to the Board of Directors, but the screen does not show anything.

I tried to use my DVI monitor with any other device as well, and it worked, so there is no problem with the monitor.

In addition, I tried to go in window safe mode by pressing F8 or Del it didn't work, so I can't see anything on the screen when his kick upward.

I tried to put a lot of information I can it will be very appreciated if you can help me with this problem please.

You said that you can't in Windows safe mode, you have installed Windows on the hard drive?  Are you able to get into the BIOS of the controller?

If you are not able to access the BIOS for the controller, it may be due to bad RAM.  If you are uncomfortable installing RAM and you have a few extra laptop RAM of the same type (I think it's the DDR3 for your controller) laying around, you can try to replace the RAM.

Was your hard drive damaged through certain events, or it just stop working?

This device was shipped with 20 GB HARD drive.
    You again is 40 GB.
I guess that the BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive because of the size.

    Hello Vishal,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. I will certainly help you with the problem you are experiencing.

If you purchased a computer with installed OEM Windows 8 on it, there could be a sticker on the Tower, or in the back (in the case of a laptop) with the product key to this topic. If there is no sticker, he can be preinstalled on your system BIOS.

  • DV9810us not to recognize the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I tried recently update my HARD since the 160 GB drive it is initially supplied with due to disk failure. I installed the new HARD drive (a 160 GB, 1.5 GB/S 5400 RPM WD Scorpio Blue) and when I go to start the computer, it will display the HP logo and options before going off after less than 5 seconds. It restarts then 3 more times, before loading any bootable media that I inserted. Right now, I have an external HARD drive that I am running Ubuntu off the coast of so I can at least use the computer at the moment.

At the BIOS screen, I'm going under Drive Diagnostics and it says IDE Device not found. I find this strange being the wrong drive I took out the laptop SATA. I inserted my Vista Ultimatex64 7 disc and when he asks an installation location, it says not found hard drives.

The new drive is not dead either, I have hooked up to my desktop via a port SATA extra and is easily recognizable.

You use the same drive connector in a cage and at the end of the old drive?  I saw where a new drive connector seems to be the same, but they do not work.

  • Recovery disc is not compatible with newly improved hard drive

Product name: HP Pavilion DV6-3042tx laptop

    Product number: WY364PA #ABG

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit (pre-installed)

    Error message:

"This PC is not supported by the system recovery discs.

You can continue to recover this system with these discs. »

After you run a memory test, the results suggested replacing the preinstalled hard drive. I bought a new hard drive similar to the pre-installed, but with a capacity of 750 GB rather than 640 GB and has installed successfully. I then use the recovery disks created by the recovery program to install the original OS from the old hard drive to the new hard drive. Windows started to boot normally until a message appears indicating the error message is on top. What should I do now?

    Hello:

I would just do this if you read the MS product key 25 character on the bottom of your laptop...

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

Or you can order a set of factory HP recovery discs and I hope they will work.

  • 128 - GB MicroSD card does not work with the new Clip +.

My old Clip + (black, 8 GB) was getting very long in the tooth, so I ordered a replacement off Amazon.  As far as I know, it is identical to the old, but a very unpleasant difference is presented - it does not work with the MicroSD card which has been a huge part of why I got a Sansa at all.  He acknowledges, but after a media updated I'm lucky if more than one album appears.  And that's what's so crazy!  You just blow through the update in a few seconds, and when I navigate on the map, there is nothing or a handful of albums random, orphaned.  That's happened?  I updated the new Clip + for the current firmware (as I had done with previous); I made sure to reproduce all the parameters that I would be put in place before--I can't imagine what could be the cause!

    Treats quick closing:

The card is formatted in FAT32 with the same sector size in storage aboard the player (32 768 bytes).

A 64 GB card format works even without any problem.

I tried to update the media in MTP and MSC mode; the problem is the same in both.

There is ample space for MTABLE. SYS - I have not yet loaded all the music on the Clip + itself.

Rockbox plays the card without problem, but the sound quality is horrible (at least on this player; I'm sure that other versions sound best), and its interface is a headache.  No thanks.

HM.  Looks like to run CHKDSK /F on the map the problem resolved!
