Windows 8 update took as much memory or not?
There are (like 4 days ago) from a few days I have 122 GB of free space on my laptop. When I closed the computer, the only option I had was "SHUT DOWN and UPDATED" and 'RESTART & UPDATE' so I chose stop & update... It took long hours updated... My installation was 13 of 17 and he did not move during these hours. So I decided to force shut down my computer.
When I turned on my computer, I now only have 116 GB of free space... I thought that maybe the update ate as much memory. But a few minutes later, he went to 114 and 113 GB... I have not installed any other software or downloaded any file that would run up to 1 GB. I don't have.
So today, yet have not download anything, I only 104 GB left! Can anyone help? Why I feel this kind of question. Thank you.

Windows Live Update and now GTA IV do not load.
Whenever I try to load either from the desktop computer, or directly to the release of the album I just get the message saying that GTA IV has stopped working, no other information. Don't have the two disks in this House at the moment so if there is a way to fix without having to do a reinstall, which would be very convenient. I use Vista but do not know if this is the problem as it worked fine before the update.
Hello
Method 1: Put the computer to boot and check if that helps:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: after a repair, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.
Method 2: Updated the graphics driver and check if it helps fix the problem:
Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly
Method 3: If the above methods fail to resolve the problem and then uninstall and reinstall GTA IV and check if this solves the problem:

Uninstalling programs can save you some disk space (very little),
but it won't do anything for your memory. If you are short on disk space, almost everything you do will be nothing
but a stopgap measure. You will arrive soon in the same
situation. The only real solution is to buy a larger hard drive.
Fortunately, they are very cheap at the moment.

I run windows XP on PC. A window Explorer windows asking me to update Firefox 21 popped up. The window includes a link 'more info' and a 'remind me later' and 'install' button. Never seen this style of notification before anything so I clicked and rejected the window. Is this a legitimate firefox notification? Otherwise, what have I been invaded by, and how should I proceed?
Hello, it is difficult to judge what was going on by the description only - in case it happens again, please try to create a screenshot of the dialog in question and attach it to an answer in the forum here...
in any case, firefox 21 was released last week and you must indeed upgrade to the latest version. Just go to firefox > help > about firefox to find and apply the update.

Windows-configuration updates step 3 0f 3 - do not turn off your computer
Help please before you take a hammer to the laptop. The update seems to be in a loop and for 3 days I wasn't able to stop or delete it. I turned off, left running for hours on end and tried everything I can think of. How can I erase this. I'm not very good with computers, so maybe it's a simple answer then excuses.

Windows 8 for Windows xp update fails at 90% and does not start.
I read the below and see if there are solutions.
I paid for 1 hour to help Microsoft Tech to take on my desktop computer and at the end
He said there are so many chat lines, he could not follow after clicking on install.
He beat anything, antivirus, I disconnected all devices except the mouse and keyboard.
Of course the update, which I downloaded and confirmed with their diagnosis that the
computer has been updated failed 90% and would not restart.
When I went to system logs, I even tried to disable restore.
Nothing helps.
I think there must be something which is not allow restarting after installation.
The message just says: failed to install. No diagnosis or whatever it is.
If a Microsoft technology, which grabbed my computer couldn't do work I'm close to trying to get
my money back and stopped a complete package. I don't have to Microsoft backup disk, which
I'll try again.Once again: problem is installation of Windows 8 reaches 90% and then only will fail.
... Install only Windows 8 reaches 90% and then fails.
Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade a Windows XP-based computer or install Windows 8 (.1).

It was not there yesterday, and I'm the only user. I also bought the new laptop so it may not be a previous user. Can someone tell me how to remove 'John' from my computer. Windows 7 update msxml now wirerless does not work
install router wireless n again portable sony with windows 7. Windows msxml update and now the wirerless does not work
Hi Mary1965,
Welcome to the Microsoft answers site.
· What is the error message or the error code that you get when you try to access the wireless internet?
I suggest that you run a troubleshooting utility that might help you to connect wireless online.
1. click on start.
2. troubleshooting in the start search type.
3. click on network and Internet in the Troubleshooting window.
4. click on the NIC to resolve problems with the wireless connection.
Check now if you are able to communicate online wireless or not.
If the problem persists, I suggest you uninstall this particular update which was responsible for programs and features and check.
Now start the Windows updates once more and check.
You can try to install the stand-alone package to update manually and check.

Windows Vista - update causing high memory usage
I got the pages of updates over the past two years. I think the volume of updates had a negative impact on the use of memory and the computer takes an extremely long time to boot and load anything. Windows creates a record high every day useage, although all similar products Office software have been removed. I took it home and it should work fine. There is no Add - ons, with the exception of a printer.
(1) is the volume of updates slow down my system to a crawl?
(2) what can I do to fix the problem?
