Windows automatically restarts constantly, cannot access the system restore point, cannot access the computer in safe mode

Hi all

For the not 24 hours I tried to access my computer in normal mode. When I turn on the pc, it says "configuration data 1 of 3 steps...". 0% complete"he never spent 0% and within seconds, it automatically restarts and starts again. It's so frustrating! I have a windows vista pc (purchased in ' 06). I can only access my desktop in SafeMode.

I tried to perform a system restore, but not like he says "recovery disk is not the restore point selected. What should I do? I tried to manually create a restore point, but cannot access the system and Maintenance, while in safe mode. I can't do anything but literally access the internet. How can I get Windows back to factory settings it is with these limited resources? I have a Dell reinstallation DVD.

I searched my programs and found that recently Windows automatically updated and downloaded "Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer" and "for 2007 Office system Compatibility Pack '. Now, I think it has something to do with it, because they were the most recent updates, before the pc crashed. But I also fear that it may be a virus, which has completely hijacked this PC. How am I supposed to get rid of a bug, if I can't even get the necessary antivirus?

Sorry for the ranting, but it's so stressful when my pc is completely down. Please, please please help me. Thank you in advance for reading this same!

Hello

you talk about restore and system recovery disc in the same breath

they are 2 different things

and you can NOT create a restore of yesterday and today!

yesterday is gone

If it does not already; You can't do

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

Windows Vista

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the

http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Here's how to use startup repair system restore command prompt, etc. to bleepingcomputers link below

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

http://helpdeskgeek.com/how-to/change-boot-order-XP-Vista/

The malware removal:

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

  • How to restart the computer in safe mode?

Is there a way to restart the computer in safe mode UN-staged network, or at least to list computer startup options including safe mode, without having to wait for the computer to stop, then press on and hold F8 during initial computer boot?

In particular, there is a command that I can enter from the cmd prompt?

If it's important, I have a Dell Latitude D610 with MS WinXP Pro 2002 SP3.

But I really want a method that works on any MS WinXP.

You can configure your system to boot in any mode desired by using the msconfig utility.

Click Start, run and enter in the box:

    Msconfig

Click OK to launch the utility.

On the BOOT. INI tab you can add/remove options to the boot.ini file so next time XP starts, it will start in the selected mode.  XP looks at the boot.ini file to decide how it is supposed to start.  You can use the built in Help and/or a few searches on Google to learn more about msconfig.  You will need to adjust things again if you want to start in a different mode, but there would be no F8 key.

A word of warning.  Some malicious software now recognizes when you added the/SafeBoot option in the boot.ini file on your system.  The malware knows some of the things you could do to try to find and delete this... and he won't be deleted.  He wants you to think that you need to reinstall your XP instead.

If your system has this condition and you add the option/SafeBoot, your system unbootable ever again successfully XP from hard disk in a different mode until you remove the option/SafeBoot your boot.ini file by starting on something else (like a CD) to manually remove the switch/SafeBoot.

The switch / SafeBoot used to be pretty, a good idea, but it isn't a good idea these days.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

    Hello

Looks like the CD-ROM drive is a failure. Uninstall and reinstall the disc and check if this solves the problem. If the problem persists, you should replace the disk.

To uninstall the drive from Device Manager:
    a. Click Start, then type devmgmt.msc in the start search box then press ENTER.
    b. right-click on the CD and click on uninstall.
    c. restart the computer.

  • I wanted to shoot penalty, put the computer in safe mode, now its blocked, firm FF 3 times, computer rebooted, still in safe mode.how out safe mode

I wanted to do in the event of problem, I put the computer in safe mode and now I can't get out of safe mode. I closed FF & computer restarted 3 times, even shut down the computer, still in safe mode. What should I do to get out of safe mode?

I gave up and took my laptop to the Apple store... everything is ok now... I don't know what they were doing.

  • Windows 7 Build 7600 this copy of Windows is not genuine - I can only run the computer in safe mode

My son - under Windows 7 Home Premium - Dec 2010 laptop, purchased at Future Shop

It has worked well for the past 2 years.  Suddenly, on Saturday, he stopped doing anything.
    That's happened?
I don't know, but when I started upwards, normally, all I get is the 'black screen of death", with the words"Windows 7 Build 7600 this copy of Windows is not genuine ".
I CAN'T DO anything HERE - can't make a right click, left click, CTRL ALT DEL, menu button - nothing works

So I rebooted in SafeMode with networking - everything works fine.

I have tried many fixes - when I read the topics - but NONE OF THEIR WORK in safe MODE
slui.exe 4?  Does not work in safe mode
Run?  Does not work in safe mode
Start - computer - properties - activate windows now?  Does not come to the top, in safe mode
However, he won't come to the top with a status or product ID
Starter - activate windows?  does not work in safe mode
I tried to download the windows / microsoft / genuine / validate the tool - but guess what, that didn't work either - update installation failed - error information 0x8007043C - probably does not work in safe mode - but that's all I have As
I did a system restore - it 'worked' but ran very slow - and then when I restarted, the problem came back.
    and many others

I ran Avast free on it - and anti-octets Malware - nothing - but I can only run in safe mode.
Avast has some programs that run on the system re - start - but it does not start in normal mode - if none of them work

I read a lot of topics on this - and I'm VERY FRUSTRATED

I used another laptop - does the slui.exe 4 - and he asks me the activation key?  I can't that - not in safe mode
I called the phone number - and talked to anyone - they told me to go through the www.howtotell.com - and report a counterfeit copy.  But it's NOT a COUNTERFEIT copy.
OK - it's perhaps - but why it worked for 1.5 years?  And I bought from FutureShop, so should be reliable.  And I have the certificate of Authenticity on the back

Don't forget - I can't do anything either in normal mode - but the Safemode with network works perfectly well.

So, I don't know what to do.

    I don't think that's my problem - I bought a genuine copy, a reliable retailer.
Anything you can do to help, would be greatly appreciated.

    I agree with this assessment.

Hard drives come with a large number of spare sectors 'invisible' - it's only when they all well used by repair mechanisms built-in to the reader that the number of bad sectors Windows begins to increase from zero (in your case, it is a sector) means that there is already a significant degradation of the drive, and you can expect the count to start sooner or later back.

  • start the computer in safe mode and appearing automatically jump to the top of websites

Original title: appearing automatically jump to the top of websites and to hear the mouse click as sounds radomly

    Microsoft community.

I have essentially two problems in my computer.
    (1) since almost a month my computer automatically goes into safe mode when I pass it on or restart. So, I have to change the user account to come to normal mode.
    (2) in addition to this since 5 days I noticed pop-up program (exactly which is the site web news.net ) in the right corner of my computer screen and it comes with random noise (similar to a mouse-click) that I mentioned earlier.

I guess this program automatically installed when I tried to download another program almost a week back.

I tried to remove the program using Control Panel, but it is not in the Panel.
Then I ran a Kaspersky internet security scan (license and currently updated version) that was installed in my computer and then I ran Microsoft security scanner and none of them could picked up a problem.
So I ran computer more secure mood.

When I tried to clean the boot. I noticed only with safe mode even if the clean boot dialog box appeared options such as ok or cancel orders are not visible or they are absent (or damaged). Here, because I couldn't do the clean boot function properly.
And I always get that previously mentioned his pop-up at random.
So I am worrying because this could be the virus and it can harm my computer or your identity. I really appreciate if you can help me in this regard.
    Thank you
    Kind regards.

  • Cannot defragment the hard drive AND cannot start the computer in safe mode

I have been unable to defragment my hard drive because it tells me that chkdsk /f planned.  I tried manually works in command mode nothing works.  I was advised to try to start up in safe mode, but when I do that all I get is a screen of command lines, and my computer freezes there.  What I'm doing wrong and what I can do differently?

If you try to defragment a volume and see a message like this:

Disk Defragmenter has detected that Chkdsk is scheduled to run on the volume: (c :))
    Please run Chkdsk /f.

This means that the volume (disk) that you want to defragment was marked 'dirty' XP.

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

You can check the status of your bit of impurity from a command prompt window.

To do this, click Start, run and enter in the box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window.

For example, to query the bit of impurity on drive C, type:

    fsutil dirty query C:

    The sample output:
    Volume c is dirty
    Volume C: is dirty

Is the volume of your sale or it is not dirty?

The only way to disable the on a volume's dirty bit is to run chkdsk with error correction.

You can click on start, run and enter in the box:

    Chkdsk /r

Click OK and answer Yes to schedule the chkdsk next time XP restarts, restart your system and keep your fingers crossed that the chkdsk /r clears the dirty bit (you may need to run once or twice).

If who disobeys, then you will need to start in the XP Recovery Console and run the chkdsk /r from there.

    System Restore will not work

    Hi FriendFriend,

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    2. do you have security software installed on the computer?

    3. you receive an error message when running the system restore?

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state, and then try to clean boot.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
