Windows could not configure windows to run on this hardware on this computer. RAID problem?

I'm upgrading from XP to 7 ultimate.  Compatibility checker turned up no problem important and (custom) installation seems to be okay until the dreaded message above.

I have an older Pentium 4 3.2 (540J) processor on a card mother P5GD2.  After searching for a solution, it seems that a lot of the problems result from hard drive interface problems.  I'm 2 RAID 1 volumes through an Intel 82801FR SATA RAID controllers.  Windows seems to see the volumes very well during the installation process.  I select the first volume of the installation, and then continue until the message "cannot configure.

The fact that I can see volumes in the installer of Windows means that Windows has find and load the drivers for the RAID?  No idea how to resolve this situation?  Do you think the RAID/HDs are to blame, or is there another likely problem?

Thank you!

Steve

A renounced get the motherboard RAID at work and swithched off RAID in the bios for RAID Windows 7 software.  When I've done that two partitions on each disk hard remainied so I left in place.  I was then able to install one of the partitions on one disk without problem.  It was the motherboard RAID and software RAID in Windows 7 should take me to where I need to be.  (Note: I can't create the mirror to the boot volume, but I posted this question on a separate thread,...)

    Hello:

Try to make your own Vista installation disc and see if you can get Vista installed in this way.

If you are in a fault light but rewarding, you can make your own Vista installation DVD so you can read your Vista on the PC 25-character product key.

You just download the 3 files you need on the link below and read all the instructions to create a Setup bootable DVD disk using imageburn.

Do not take into account the part of the text in the first screen shot about "extract the files in the folder of Vista."

The files were extracted already in this folder when you ran the X14.exe file by reading the text on top of the first screenshot.

The other thing I noticed is on the 4th page, where it shows Developer ID Microsoft Corporation. I had to type Microsoft Corporation in me, and then other codes already filled in.

When I went to compile the ISO file, ImageBurn gave a message on a WIM file, file and ISO, and if I wanted to burn it in a different format.

I selected no, make the ISO file.

It was not so hard to do. I burned both the disk of 64-bit and 32-bit disk in case I ever need them.

I tested both of them one my hp dc7100 CMT desktop PC, worked flawlessly.

When you enter the product key, he knows which version of Vista you have.

    Hello:

I'm not sure that there is a 'one size fits all' answer to this problem, if you google the error.

The most common solution is to try to install the SATA driver.

Here is the link to the SATA drivers you need for your model. Download and extract to a usb flash drive.

First file listed is for 64-bit operating systems.

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?AGR=Y&DwnldID=22194&ProdId=2101&lang=eng&OSVersion... =

Use the Drive Options - Advanced method to install and then select the option load a driver.

If you check the box, only the compatible SATA driver is selected.

    See if it works.

I suspect that the reason for the 2 TB drive vs the 750 GB drive that was there.  All of the recovery check the hardware on the PC which is used and rejects the hardware changes if it differs too.  I don't know a way around this limitation.  I suspect that a copy of Windows 7 retail install OK but then you have all the drivers, FOUND HERE.

    Hello

Your error message, the problem is probably caused by BIOS or DVD settings or bad cabling to SATA hard drive. Please do the following to narrow down because of the problem.

    (a) ensure that all laptops the same hardware, the same manufacturer and the same model.

    (b) upgrade the BIOS to the latest version; go into the BIOS and enable "Load Fail - Safe Defaults".

    Warning of the BIOS:

    Hello:

If you use an ordinary W7 installation DVD and use no recovery disc, the most common cause of this error is the lack of SATA drivers.

Download and extract these files on a usb flash drive. First file listed is for W7 64 bit.

    https://downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&Keyword=Intel+Rapid+Storage+Technology+(Intel+RST) & lang = fra

Plug the flash drive into your laptop and start your installation of W7 DVD.

When you get to install it now click on that and click the option advanced player options.

Then choose load a driver.  You should now see all the sata on your USB drivers.

You can check a box and it will include the compatible sata driver to install.

Proceed from there, and I hope that will install W7.

Any help would be appreciated... Gateway is only interested to collect money.  They have no interest in serving the poor suckers who buy their products (computer is 2 years old so it is out of warranty).

    Thanks for the reply.

Fortunately, I solved the problem myself (after 19 hours of stress).
The problem is that the recent hard disk has something different that no longer ages and makes pre-service pack 1 (SP1 solves the problem) versions of Windows 7 incompatible. My set of recovery disks have been created the day I bought the computer, which had no windows updates installed at the time.

There is an "easy solution" on the Microsoft support site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2466753/en-us

Unfortunately, their method works only if you have a Windows 7 installation disc, which does most of the people who buy computers pre-built manufacturers. Essentially, the solution is to install SP1 from a disc when don't give you the possibility to load drivers during installation, an option that the gateway recovery disks.

So I thought that, theoretically, if I use my recovery discs to get a clean install on a hard drive that works, then use windows update to get updated (or at least to get SP1), and then make a set of NEW recovery disks (using windows backup: start > all programs > maintenance > Backup and Restore), I should be able to use these discs to install the new hard disk.

    It worked.

So for someone else who has this same problem with new hard disks, I hope that the above is easy to understand. If not, ask someone else more savvy and show them this thread. Do not forget that at the end to create new recovery disks, it will ask you if you also want to create a 'system' repair disc. DO THIS! This is the disk that you need to start from when you are ready to install.

Also: If your new hard drive is bigger than the one that you have created the new recovery disks, the partition on your new hard drive (once everything is installed) will be the same size as the one that you have created the records on. You will need to use a kind of editor of score for re - size. I recommend Gnome Partition Editor. http://www.gparted.org

Burn gparted Live CD and him, resize your partition, and you're done (google for more in-depth instructions).

Thank you, theloungelizardK, for the offer on the ISO, but I don't need. :)

  • "Installation of Windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

I recently released and bought 4 hard to present itself as a raid 10 disks, now I use my motherboards onboard fakeraid an ihc10r. The cables are fine and when I try and install windows 7 (64 x pro) on each disk with raid and ahci disabled in the bios, windows installs fine. Now when I raid raid 10 disks windows install can see the drive and even then, I load the drivers just to be sure that iastor.sys etc. (I tried with and without) is the same every time after the first reboot, I get about 10 minutes and 2 minutes after the resolution of the screen is adjusted BOOM "installation of windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

First of all, then someone please help me get windows installed on my raid?

Second, microsoft, your error messages leave much to be desired, it does not yet add a message in the Setup error log.

EDIT: Forgot to add that I did a memtest and it happened, I also have the piece of garbage jmicron on my MB off the power. In addition, the facility produces when the SATA controller is in AHCI mode, BUT not in raid mode.

Seems to me that if the software/driver is not compatible Windows 7. Also if any of the readers have reminants of your installation for each individual unit, Windows 7 may not be able to deal with formatting during the installation process. Try to download CD bootable diagnostic of the manufacture in car and do two things.

    (1) check each drive individually for issues.

    (2) wipe the drive (WD can for example remove the first and last part of the training which completely removes the MBR and other reminants for the final result is the drive looks like you just removed from the box and plugged in for the first time.)

I did some research on this issue, it seems to be the lack of SATA drivers on my computer.

Could you please tell me which intel SATA driver should I install to fix the problem?

    Thank you very much

    Hello:

You cannot change the drive controller setting in the BIOS on any HP laptop consumers made in the last 5-6 years.

    See if it works...

Download the drivers from this link below (first listed file - 64-bit).

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx? AGR = Y & ProdId = 2101 & DwnldID = 23060 & keyword = Intel + Rapi...

Extract (copy) the files on a USB FlashDrive without all records.

With the flash player and support installation of W7 in the machine, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and I hope, will install W7.
