Windows could not search for new updates (error code 80004002)

Windows could not search for new updates and gives the error code "80004002" I tried to reinstall UpdateAgent (fatal error encountered) and I tried the MSFixIt and the automatic troubleshooter. Also tried everything to this forum and nothing helps: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/460975/windows-update-code-80004002/

When I try the "sfc/scannow" it gives me that he can't sweep.

I have looked everywhere and tried everything. Help me the microsoft community, you're my only hope.

Hello

Thank you for your update on the issue.

Since you have already done SFC scan, I suggest you perform a repair installation (upgrade Inplace). There seems to be some corruption of system files and the repair facility should be able to fix them.

Note: before proceeding with the installation of repair, I suggest you make a backup of all your data.

Backup your files: http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-your-files

To perform a repair installation, follow the steps in the following article:

How to perform an upgrade in Place on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2255099

I hope this helps. Please post back your results for assistance.

  • "Windows could not search for new updates" error Code 80041054

Almost SIX months to find a solution to this problem.  Countless emails, phone calls, try this and try that.  I bought this laptop in May and was NEVER able to perform an update.  I tried everything I can think of and everything that has been proposed in e-mail from Microsoft.  I gave up any type of phone support - repeated "disconnection".  I can't reinstall Windows Vista because it came pre-installed.  I'm really just fed up.  I bought Office and Outlook - or work correctly.  I bought some software today (Roxio VHS to DVD) and I am unable to use it because it requires an update of Windows!  I did some research on this and found others with the same problem that dates back to 2007 - not answers on the Microsoft forums!

Any ideas?  I tried Mr. Fix - it.  I downloaded the standalone installer - took about 45 minutes of so-called 'install' - and then nothing!  He never did any kind of scan and now I can't even find it on my computer.  I'm ready to make the leap to a Mac.

It comes with Vista, upgrade install and activate Forum.

  • Windows could not search for new updates. Code 80072EE2

    First, some background...

    I am running Windows Server 2008 / Hyper-V

I have a Vista OS guest I have loaded from a base image (vhd)

I also have a Server 2008 guest OS also loaded from a base image

These images have not been created on this machine.

I had guest OS installed since the XP CD but since she departed.

The machine on which it is all performed has a 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 X 6800 processor.

    8 GB DDR2 RAM

I've had this problem for several weeks now.  At the beginning I could not the host OS to run updates, it would fail with an error 80072EFE code. This is for several weeks. Finally, while researching this problem I came across an entry mentioning only the BITS required to run so double I checked it. Of course, it was off. I started the service and that fixed the problem with the host operating system and apparently the problems she was having with other sites.

So I think big is issues with the Vista and the comments of 2008 operating system. No luck, these systems still will not run updates.  The 2008 operating system returns an error "Windows could not search for updates" with a code error 80072EE2

I tried several solutions to this problem, and at least twice have reloaded the base images because I mucked in the system so much that I lost track of all the changes I had made to the OS.

    I ran these commands...

    regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll
    regsvr32 /s wuaueng1.dll
    regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
    regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\dllcache\wucltui.dll
    regsvr32 /s wups2.dll
    regsvr32 /s c:\windows\system32\wups.dll
    regsvr32 /s wuweb.dll

I also tried the procedure found here...

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-SG/vistawu/thread/6511a332-7de3-4F10-B823-49b6dae86b9c

Which loads a new "TrustedInstaller.exe" in the folder "C:\windows\Servicing\".

And on the Vista operating system I also tried this...

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058

By clicking on the "Fix It" link.

    It still does not.

Oddly if that I'm typing this I had rebooted the OS Vista and restart it it notafied me that he was installing updates 1 of 3. However when it finished I tried to check the updates and it gives me the same error "Windows can not find updates" with a code error 80072EE2.

Someone at - he found an answer to this question. I ask because I'm looking for what I see many people with the same issue.

How can I fix Windows update

    Hi Michaelwalsh,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description that you posted in your message appears that you are unable to install the updates and get 80244019 error code.

Error code 80244019 indicates a virus infection that has disabled Windows Update, or another service on your computer that is required by Windows Update. Since you've already scanned your computer, your computer cannot be infected by a virus more, now, it is recommended to make sure that all the important services responsible for updates of Windows are enabled.

Follow the steps below to restart services required by Windows Update

You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.

    1. Open administrative tools by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.
    2. Double-click Services. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    6. Click the general tab, click Start, and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    7. Click the connection tab and make sure that the service is enabled in every hardware profile listed.
    8. Click the general tab, click Start, and then click OK. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    9. In the Services window, double-click Windows event log.
    10. Under the tab general , next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
    11. Next to Service status, check whether the service is started. If not, click Start, and then click OK.
    12. In the Services window, double-click the Windows Update service.
    13. Under the tab general , next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
    14. Next to Service status, check to see if the road is listed. If not, click Start, and then click OK.
    15. In the Services window, double-click software licensing.
    16. Under the tab general , next to Startup type, make sure that Automatic is selected.
    17. Next to Service status, check to see if the road is listed. If this is not the case, click Start , and then click OK.
    18. Close the Services window and try to install Windows updates again.

Hope it would help. If the problem persists post returns with the required information, the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows could not search for new updates, error 80070003

I get the above opinion whenever I try to run Windows Update.I tried to run Microsoft Fix It, it says that it's been fixed, but not luck.

    Hello

    Method 1:

I suggest to disable the anti-virus program and then try to install the update.

    Disable the anti-virus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:

If the problem persists, I suggest you to start the computer in a clean boot state and check if you are able to install the updates.

This could happen if one of the substantive programmes is in conflict with the proper functioning of your computer. To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7, mentioned in the article to start the computer to a normal startup.
