  Here is my scenario:

  Machine 1

  Server5 - host VMware Server 1.0.6 version

  Is within Server5 Server6 running on VMware Server & Server7

  Machine 2

  Created an ESXi Server

  I want to one Server11 newly created on the ESXi machine be Server7.

  All machines are running MS Server 2003 R2 SP2

  I tried using the conversion tool and get an error message "actively denied connection to the target computer.  I tried all the possible scenarios regarding the installation of conversion on each machine tool.  I made sure that telnet runs on both machines.  I found little or no information on this error message on the VMware site.  Is there a better way to convert this virtual machine that use the conversion tool?  It sounds simple enough, but I'm obviously missing something.  Thanks in advance.

  Turning off 6 Server and Server 7.

  In the first step of the Converter Wizard, select the option for an engine off the coast of the virtual machine.  This should allow you to select the VMX file using a button 'Browse '.

• Move a VM from VMWare Workstation 7 to VMWare Server 2

  Hi all:

  I had to create a virtual machine in VMware Workstation 7 manually prepare and now I need to move it to VMWare Server 2, which is used to run automated tests. It is our usual working process.

  I would like to know if there is a problem with it, because the process of setting up the machine took several hours, install programs, and to configure, you know.

  Should I edit the .vmx file? I copied the machine using scp, since the destination that VMware Server is installed on a remote computer; I can access which the machine in ssh and web.

  If the virtual machine was powered (non-suspended) offshore before moving them to the destination, you should be able to turn on without problems. Both VMware Workstation 7.x and VMware Server 2.x can use hardware virtual version 7 (http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003746), which is probably the most important thing.

  If you don't know, create a snapshot before you turn on the virtual machine to the remote site, in this way that the virtual disks have changed.

  If the copied virtual machine snapshots, you will not be able to come back to them on the new hardware if they were taken while the virtual machine is running.

• Can I run a machine virtual de VMware Fusion, VMware Server 2?

  I looked at a bunch of documentation confusing but couldn't find a clear overview of what VMware Server 2 does in fact.

  I hope that I can take the virtual machines that I've created with VMware Fusion and download them on VMware Server 2 on a server somewhere and run it from there.

  Is this possible?   Is there any clear, simple documentation that indicates how to proceed?

  If you run the virtual machine in fusion directly in vmware server, these are the steps to follow:

  (1) find out where are the fusion virtual machine files.

  (2) stop & remove merge (do not remove fisically hd!) virtual machine.

  (3) copy files of the virtual machine of fusion to the vmware server host (with the .vmx file and the hard should be enough) in the directory you designate as data store for vm vmware server files in the installation of vmware server.

  (4) use the "adding a virtual machine to inventory" to navigate to the file .vmx of the virtual machine that you copied before

  (5) the machine running and try. (if a question arises, you say that you copied the VM).

  Maybe you should do some additional steps as reconfigure it the virtual machine under vmware virtual network install, but there are minor and easy changes.

• configuration network on VMWare server 2

  I installed Vmware server 2 on my server (WIN2k3 with nic 2s because my server have a role of routing). A NIC is set up for INTERNET and other NIC is set to INTRNET.

  the configuration of my INTRANET is on class C IP:192.168.99.XX, SM: 255.255.255.0. I create a virtual Instalation with UBUNTU 8.10 Server... I installed UBUNTU with no problem and without error, but without internet access because I don't know what ip and network configurations I should do on virtual NIC (Vmnet1 and Vmnet8) and which configurations should I do ifconfig on UBUNTU (IP, SM, gateway, DNS)

  Depends on...

  I'll explain what these networks and you can find what you need:

  1 bridged (VMnet0)

  If the virtual NIC (vNIC) is fulfilled, the guest takes part like any other host on the network. It needs its own IP address corresponding to the IP network to which it is filled.

  2 host-only (VMnet1)

  It is a network isolated between the host and the guests. No outside communication.

  3 NAT (VMnet8)

  When you use this type the host acts as a proxy routing with address masquerading. This means that all packets send by the client appears to come from the host to the outside world. You can hide your comments like that.

  What physical adapters is used to fill can be configured. The default value is one automatically chosen NIC jumpered to VMnet0. You can create a custom network (say VMnet2) and he a teddy bear additional bridge.

  Networks VMnet1 and VMnet8 can be served by the DHCP of VMware Server, so if you use this type of vNIC and you configure the IP address in the guest to use DHCP, you're fine.

  Don't forget to use a firewall at least on the vNIC which can face outside if you use bridged or NAT to connect to the Internet!

• VMware Server on windows 7 host, will not autostart invited after upgrade to vista

  I have upgraded vista to winodws 7.  I had to reinstall vmserver 2.01 for networking.  The last problem is that Vmserver auto start the guest.

  I changed the options for start/stop of the virtual machine settings.

  

  This worked under Vista 32-bit, but not under Windows 7 RTM 32-bit.

  any ideas?

  I am currently using vmrun to start from a batch file

  Follow-up: I could get this to work, although the causes escapes me and the fix is not pretty:

  1. Remove VMWare Server

  2 remove folders vmware related in c:\program files (or installed path)

  3. manually remove all references to "vmware" of the registry

  4 reboot.

  5 reinstall the server vmware to the default locations.

  I tried everything but the manual registry clean.  (Standard warning blow your system here)  Once I did this and reinstalled, now auto-start for clients with the host properly operating system.

  I hope this helps someone else.

  My server is an HP Proliant G6 G380 with 2 processors Intel Xeon X 5550 2.66 Ghz (Quad Core)

  Operating system is Windows Server 2008 standard x 64 SP2 and I use VMware-server - 2.0.1 - 156745

  On the Bios, I enabled HyperThreading, virtualization technology...

  On "Windows Task Manager - Performance" I see 16 CPU (2 processors * 4 cores * hyperhtreading).

  On the VMWare Server 2 documentation, they said this support for VMWare Server 2:

  Standard x 86 or x 86-64-compatible server with up to 16 processors.

  Hosts with processors of 32-bit IA - 32 and IA-32 with 64-bit extensions processors are

  supported.

  When I run VMWare Infrastructure Web Access, basically on my VMWare Server, I see only 1 CPU X 5550 8 hearts.

  Do you have any idea why?

  Windows 2003 can see that 4 GB of memory.  If we use that as a host, this contrain will be our guests for a total of 4 GB?

  VMware Server is a hosted product, it can see/use only what the host OS can see/use.  So, Yes, 32-bit Win2003 Svr Standard ed. can see up to 4 GB of RAM. and therefore if VMware Server.

• Windows Server 2012 Standard Activation failure

  We have two Windows Server 2012 Standard which must be activated with the information of the right at the bottom of the windows desktop as shown in Figure 1.

  Then, I run the command slui and enter the product key to activate as shown in figure 2.

  Unfortunately, I got an error with already shown as Picture 3.

  Note,

  • I called the Activation Center as indicated in picture 4 in Norway to attempt activation by phone, but the CSR told me that they cannot generate the confirmation ID to activate the operating system.
  • The server is not connected and cannot be connected to the internet for internal use only.

  Can I have your help to solve the problem? and I also need to know the impact if it is not enabled.

• Microsoft cannot activate my Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition 32 bits, tried all the possibilities but always in vain.

  I called the customer service. I called the support to businesses. whatever i can I I did but I don't get any solution, right away that these people say that support is not provided for windows 2003 as its being obsolete.

  My question is whether the product activation. I bought the license for windows 2003 std ed. At least I need solution for activation, it should be default but nobody is bothered.

  Please I ask you people to get a confirmation code to activate my windows server 2003 standard edition.

• Windows Fax and Scan "Sender Name" empty (Windows Server 2008 Standard)

  Hi all

  I am using Windows Server 2008 Standard (32-bit) with a RocketModem III card.  I have the latest drivers for the RocketModem.

  Using Windows Fax and Scan, I can send and receive faxes fine.  The only problem is when I see the fax, the name of the sender is blank.  I am trying to display the telephone number that someone sends me the fax to.

  I had thought it might also be under CSID, but everything I have complete options because it puts there.  I guess that means I want the CSID show for all those who sent faxes to me.

  It might be worth noting that I have active CallerID and you have a real fax machine that shows the incoming number very well.

  Does anyone have an idea where I could go wrong here?  Thanks in advance for the help!

• Dell Standard ISO for Windows Server 2008 Standard (not R2)

  I need an ISO standard, an ISO of Windows Server 2008 Standard OEM Dell 1-4 CPU. I already have a certificate of authenticity available with the P73-04001 product number.
