Windows Defender blocks PeerBlock on startup, no option to 'enable '.
I recently installed PeerBlock, I want it to run at startup. But Windows Defender will not allow him. There is no option for me to activate it.
Please don't tell me that you need "secpol.msc". Missing from Vista Home. I really hope that the person who took this design decision got fired. Worst. Decision. Never. (Or incidentally, all versions of Windows 7 suffer the same incompetence?)

Windows Defender - blocked startup programs
Over the past two days, whenever I connect, windows defender appears and says it blocked a commissioning program. So I open windows defender and choose "show or remove blocked startup programs" I assume that the program that is blocked is showing on the screen. How can I remove the locked channel? Remove, disable and enable buttons are gray. I don't want to run it in case it is an infected file. The file is Digital Line Detection by Avanquest Software.
Thank you.
Here is some information about dlg.exe; http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/dlg. Here's more information:http://forums.avanquestusa.com/aq/archive/index.php/t-4477.html. As you can see, the creators of this program are known to have made Spyware in the past and that is probably why it is blocked.
How did you get this program and why do you have this program? It seems to me that it does not offer much that you can't with programs that cause fewer problems (if necessary at all). I checked the site web avanquest and this program is not listed: http://www.avanquest.com/. I also checked Phone Tools of BVRP (whose dlg.exe is supposed to be a part of):http://download.cnet.com/BVRP-Mobile-Phone-Tools/3000-2349_4-93370.html , but that seemed for mobile phones and brought him back to avanquest. I could not find any information on the product (in addition, Tools of BVRP Phone does not list itself as compatible with Vista).
If I were you, I would delete/uninstall this program. It's not like you use (it is blocked) and you don't mention the functions you can perform you want to run, because he's not here. Go to start / Control Panel / programs and features and see if you can find it under the names above, then right click on it and click on uninstall.
If it does not appear, go to http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx and run Autoruns and click all. Search of dlg.exe or whatever it is, on one names program or product mentioned above, and when you find it uncheck the box to prevent it from start to start. Check the entire list as there may be several entries. When you're done, click OK and restart. Since it is no longer from the start, he should no longer need to be blocked, and I hope that will remove the message. I would prefer if we could uninstall the program, but if it is not found, then we will have to be satisfied to prevent him from running.
This will be the no Defender removes (except if it is uninstalled) and I can't explain why the buttons are grayed (are you logged on as administrator?). But I think that the process described above may solve the problem. If the message still appears, then I suggest you contact Support technique Avanquesthttp://kb.avanquestusa.com/display/4/search.aspx?tab=search and ask them how to remove it and why it causes so many problems.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Windows Defender blocks all downloads
Hi I have a problem with Windows Defender.
When I use Internet Explorer to download files, they are automatically removed, and I get this message "_ contained a virus and was eliminated" this happens for all downloads including safe as downloads from Microsoft.com or home Web site.
I tried to adjust my internet security options and settings of the firewall, and he did not make a difference.
I want to uninstall defender to stop this problem but the Defender does not allow me access.
If I try to open the Defender I get this message Explorer.EXE; Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You can not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. This message is funny because I'm trying to access the defender in my account, which is Admin, and I'm also clicking Run as admin.
If anyone has any useful advice as to how I could remove defender or be able to download in the Explorer again, it would be more useful.
WD which comes pre-installed in Windows 7 by default can not be uninstalled. It cannot be disabled/disabled. It usually turned off automatically during the installation of most AV/AS software (including the MSE) to avoid conflicts with two motors "real-time protection" running at the same time.
That said, what AV software is installed?
Furthermore, as already indicated by John Alexander_803 above:The description that you have provided your computer is infected with the Sirefef 'new' variant looks as problems for MSE and Windows Defender.
See rocks of XP and RickCP suggestions in this thread.
You may be seeing the effects of a course by the latest variant hijackware infection (new redesigned dropper) of Win32/Sirefef (aka ZeroAccess), which disables / triggered MSE and WD.
You can download HitmanPro.Kickstart (v3.7.6.201) on a USB stick to clean/empty using another machine and then run it on the infected computer. Follow the instructions of the tool.
A manual of HitmanPro.Kickstart and the FAQ is available here.
-Note: when you are finished (a restart may be necessary), make sure to make a copy (using Notepad) in the log file of the tool (for this first round of the tool) which is automatically created and saved in: C:\Users\All Users\AppData\HitmanPro\Logs. Please post here on your very next answer.According to the guidelines of the changelogtool, the most recent and current generation (201) released June 3, includes the: "reparations for NTFS symbolic links placed by ZeroAccess on Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials. Now fix the folders and files in Winsxs folders as well. In addition, security ACL is reset.
Please post with your progress report. Your comments are much appreciated.

Windows Defender is turned off at startup
Hello
Whenever I start my computer, Windows Defender is disabled & I have to turn it on manually. It's funny, because on my start up programs, I set it up so that it starts when my computer starts, and yet it is always disabled.
Sometimes it lights fine, but other times it stays on until I try to do a scan. Sometimes, if I have a scanner, it turns off. I scanned my computer for viruses & malware but nothing came.
This started after I updated my AVG for AVG 2011 a month ago.
How can I solve this problem?
Thank you.
Before the last update AVG my windows Defender would automatically go to the beginning upward. How can I get it to start automatically again?
M.Roman25,
You have already been informed that AVG is supposed to turn Windows Defender because AVG has his own Defender. But, if you insist to know how to turn on Windows Defender, here's how...
WARNING: you can't and you shouldn't have to, do that.
Prepare AVG if he stops again.Assuming you are using Vista:
Start button > in the search box, type Services> press the Enter key > scroll to find Windows Defender, click on it >...
topic status , it must be said... Has begun
under Startup Type, it must be said... Automatic
If it does not say that, right click on Windows Defender > click Properties >
in Startup Type, click on the pointer to the right and select automatic
to the service status, click Start
Click OK when finished. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem. -

How can I manually enable windows Defender? I can't open it to activate
Enable or disable the Windows Defender real-time protection
To help prevent software spyware and other unwanted software from infecting your computer, turn on Windows Defender real-time protection, and select all real-time protection options. Real-time protection alerts you when software spyware and other potentially unwanted software attempts to install or run on your computer. You are also alerted if programs attempt to change important Windows settings.
Click to open Windows Defender.
Click on tools and then click Options.
Under real-time protection options, select the check box to use real-time protection (recommended).
Select the options you want. To help protect your privacy and your computer, we recommend that you select all real-time protection options.
Under Choose if Windows Defender should notify you, select the options you want, and then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation
I followed these instructions, but the link to open windows defender just tells me that I have to open & activate manually
