Windows Defender does not start automatically now.

Since last week, Windows Defender will automatically start.  He has always done in the past.  It shows to the extent permitted in the list in the Windows Explorer startup programs and also listed as automatic in the section of the computer management services.  I opened a few days ago to check the updates, and I got a little window that says "Windows Defender is disabled" and it had a link to activate it, I clicked, and it did turn on.  Because of this, whenever I turn on my laptop, I check Windows Defender and of course, she is still not and I have to turn it on manually.  I also have McAfee Security Suite, Spybot Search & Destroy and Microsoft Security Essentials, Ad Aware, Malware Bytes.  More McAfee is the only one that I pay.  But I had all these programs installed to the Windows Defender stopped automatically starting.  I don't have the error messages and have never know on this subject if I did not check for updates once.  I am running Vista Home Basic 32-bit with SP2.

    Hello

    read this information on the Defender:

    ·                         If you use microsoft security essentials avg avira mcafee norton etc they disable the vista version of windows defender by default

    the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender

    and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware

    It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do

    and if you need to change startup programs read this information on the other methods of doing it without using defender

    using msconfig read this tutorial;

    and also try this program;

  • Windows Defender does not start.

    Windows defender is disabled and cannot be started

    If you have some (for example Microsoft Security Essentials or Norton) installed security software, they will automatically turn off Windows Defender to prevent recuction of instability and system performance. It is proper and normal.

    Some malware will attempt to disable Windows Defender? What anti-malware software do you currently use?

  • Windows Defender does not start... have webroot

    I get the window to the windows defender, but I think webroot won't start... I would like to have the defender of windows as a back up but cannot get it to start...

    Hi DBrosius,

    These two are spyware software products (except if you have the version of Webroot AV).  Many programs closed AV Defender since running both at the same time can cause conflicts, freezes, crashes and other problems and also to prevent each product to perform as well as he can and that instead of increasing the protection you are actually decreases the protection.  This would happen with MSE, Norton, McAfee, Avast, Avira, AVG and many others.  Check with the technical support of Webroot to see if their product (whatever one you bought) also turns off defender.  If so, you should not try to replace and run Defender in any case or you will get into trouble at some point.

    If you have the version which only works for spyware, then you understand that neither product you defends against viruses, worms, Trojans and many other forms of malicious software out there and need to install an AV like MSE ASAP program if you have not already another such program (and if so (, it may be this program that blocks the Defender and not Webroot).

    In short, if you install MSE you complete protection and it will be disabled Defender and Webroot will be either redundant or, if it is running in real time or is a product of the VA, will have to be uninstalled as using the appropriate to clear leftover removal tool may leave behind.  This is my recommendation for you - but the decision is yours.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • My Defender does not start after the Norton removal, manual or automatic, code of error 0x800106ba

    I get error 0x800106ba when you try to start Defender, I tried to start it manually and that flags upward. I just uninstalled Norton product and not forget to check and see if my security essential work and they are, but Defender does not start? I have tried manually and automatic, have restarted the computer and searched forums and does not start again.

    Thank you

    Try the Norton Removal Tool: https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp/help-solutions.jsp?lg=english&ct=united+states&docid=20080710133834EN&product=home&version=1&pvid=f-home

    You still have remnants of Norton that interfere with the Defender (Norton disabled Windows Defender when you installed since Norton protects against the many forms of malware and Norton and the Defender provide real-time protection;) MSE and several other programs also cannot run at the same time as Windows Defender AV).

    You mentioned Security Essentials?  Do you have also installed Microsoft Security Essentials?

    You should never have more than one security product installed on the PC, providing active protection / scan. This can cause performance problems, system instability and conflicts between programs and can affect all installed antivirus product efficiency.

    You will still need another program AV because Windows Defender offers protection against spyware.  Avast, AVG, Avira, and MSE are the "big four" that provide no protection, and there are several very good '' for' anti-malware programs.  You can find the following links to be interesting to read:

  • Windows Vista does not start upward, with success since the closure complete

    Hello world

    I actually had this problem for a long time, but I'm just now to a point where I'm ready to take a lead in fixing it.

    I can't identify when it started, but Windows Vista does not start upward, with success of a full stop. He gets to the screen where, in general, the green bars will travel across the screen, but the green bars will not come. The screen looks dim and sits there, with the text of the copyright of Microsoft Corporation. So, after not having on the mound, I have to manually shut down the computer by holding down the power button. When I try to start again, told me to go through the Startup Repair tool. If I jump the repair, I just have to meet the same problem - a computer that will not go beyond the screen "green bar".

    So, I do the Startup Repair, and told me what I do for the restoration of the system. Windows starts normally after the restoration.

    Don't forget, this happens from a full stop. To remedy this, I just never completely shut down my computer. I left running and back just at the beginning of the day. The computer may start restart, it just may not start with a full stop.

    Given the start of repair takes, literally, around 4 or 5 hours of full stops complete, accidental or power outages are a nightmare, I am obliged to wait 5 hours to get access to the computer. Fortunately, I have my laptop.

    If someone has encountered this? I saw people talking about the loop of startup repair, but that's not the point, I have. I have yet to see any discussion of my specific problem.

    Thanks in advance!
