Uninstall one of them
read this information on the Defender:

the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender
and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware
It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do
If the above does not apply to your machine to read the information on the below link on how to disable the windows defender service in vista or make an autostart to enable

using msconfig read this tutorial:

and also try this FREE program Autoruns:

Original title: could not start the Service "Windows Defender" (WINDEFEND)
When you try to install Windows Defender, I get an error message that
"Service"Windows Defender"(WINDEFEND) was able to start. Make sure you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
How can I check which privileges I have and I need?
I noticed in the management of the tasks that Norton symlcsvc.exe ran and I was wondering if it was who collide with the Defender, so I temporarily stopped Symantec process running in the field of Services, but still had the same result, try to run the installation of the Defender.

When I try to turn on "Windows Defender" I get an error message "ox800106ba".
Original title: error 0x800106ba.
When I try to turn on "Windows Defender" I get an error message "ox800106ba".
How can I activate the Windows Defender?Hello
If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.
There is nothing to worry.
Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.
If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):
"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.
Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.
Once modified, click apply and OK.
Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"
.
If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:
http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:
"How to use MSCONFIG in Windows Vista"
http://netsquirrel.com/Msconfig/msconfig_vista.html
Or the program Autoruns for FREE:
"V11.21 Autoruns for Windows"

Try to start Windows Defender and get the error message 0 X 800705464
Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!
Ideas: Windows
- You have problems with programs
- Error messages
- Recent changes to your computer
- What you have already tried to solve the problem
I don't think this is the correct error code - check again.
What security software you have on your system (it - name and version)? Some disable Windows Defender in installation intentionally to avoid any conflict, so you won't have a problem, but simply a case of using a product that disable Defender (and Defender must remain disabled in this case as long as the other program is installed).
Here's a troubleshooting article on how to fix Defender in Vista Ultimate: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555962.
To repair the Defender:
Start - Control Panel - programs & features - Windows Defender - click on "Click here for support information" and choose repair.Update (update) Defender:
Start - Control Panel - programs & features - Windows Defender - change - update. If the above does not work, try Windows Defender discussion groups: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/newsgroups/default.mspx.
I hope this helps. Keep me in the loop.
Good luck!

Hi people, I also did a windows update and now this error message, "" c:\windows\system32\AUDIOSES. "» DLL', but it seems I lost my mouse driver too. When starting, I get the popup that is repeated with this message, and I continue to hit the back button to get to the home computer screen. I then connect my mobile internet (via USB) but I can't switch to the window to start a connection in order to try the suggested fixes. So I turned off the computer. When I turn it back on, the first screen I get is OS (?) asking me to start windows normally, or manually, I confirm and start getting the same error again. Any advice would be appreciated humbly.
PS I have Vista.

Hello
Thanks for your reply but I had tried the System File Checker with no luck. Finally, I replaced the hard drive, because after several attempts, I reached a point where I had the format of hard drive, but the main area where all my data were not could be formatted. I think a virus may have lock me up.
To date, May 22, 2012 the system works with the new hard drive. Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions.
