Windows eats my bandwidth!

Hi all

So I have a laptop windows 8 (windows pre installed)

There are some windows programs that continually keeps eating my Internet bandwidth automatically using "idle" even when I didn't keep all running applications. I figured out what programs here, I'm listing here.

  1. BITS
  2. Explorer
  3. LiveComm.exe

I can't turn since they can automatically gets them activated.

I'm on a very slow Internet connection, and for this reason I can't use the Internet whenever I need that they eat all my hard-earned money and in vain.

I perform certain actions such as the

  1. Disabled the automatic updates
  2. Off each tile direct
  3. Switch to a local account

But none of these permits. I do not always have Internet (if I have an Internet connection)

Please help me microsoft!

Windows is done to help people but does not displease them.

Try specifying that your data connection is limited or measured (compensation for use).  Windows does not use a connection measured as well.

  • Windows 7 download bandwidth is strangely throttled, please help.

    Hi all

    Thanks for reading this.

Here's my problem. I have my desktop PC running windows 7 Professional 64-bit (authenticated copy) connected wireless to a router connected to a modem cable (Time Warner Cable). I'm supposed to receive 40mbps 5 Mbps upload speed and download speed. This is where it gets strange. My home PC download gets only 2 Mbps but my upload is getting 5 Mbps. I thought it was very strange.

    Here's what I did:

-J' I brought my laptop to friend, and his link windows professional wireless 7 to 40mbps on my router connection / Wireless even (which suggests that this is my desktop PC which is the problem)

-My ipad and android phone on speedtests also get 30-40mbps when it is connected to the wireless router

-J' got a new card wireless (thinking it was the USB dongle) and he's still only 2 Mbps (this is a link Wireless N PCI express - TP-4800)

-J' tried a connection to the local network through my on-board GB ethernet to the router, still 2 MB/s download, 5mbps download

-J' have switched Internet Options-> connections-> Lan Settings-> automatically detect the settings off (someone else said that fixed their problem) box

-J' disabled carbonite, audio, anti-virus (sophos) and many other non-essential services in the services section of the Manager of tasks without result.

-J' started in the safe mode and still download 2mbps

-J' tried to add the following registry key based on someone of another experience DWORD32 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SYSTEM->CurrentControlSet->services->LanmanWorkstation->Parameters->DisableBandwidthThrottling 1

-Download less than downloading is very suggestive that something is limiting the bandwidth to download on my PC only... I can't understand what he...

My desktop PC is an AMD A10 7850 k kaveri CPU with the gigabyte card mother/AMD chipset drivers last A88x - D3h Council, and I tried several wireless and wired adapters and for some reason, it's just this PC. I have sophos AV installed and he was not accused of any threat to this system, nor I web practices to high risk.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

OK... so I think I solved the problem.

Here's how. I have Accelerator disabled random networks AppEx and wam! immediately improved bandwidth. In fact, I can check the box on and it slows down, uncheck the box and immediately my changes 1-2mbps to 50mbps. No other changes have been made except this one.

It's crazy. It is supposed to speed things up, but it does the opposite. Mabye it's just with my material, but if it can help someone else, I'll be happy.

  • As microsoft some tools to speed up internet

As microsoft some tools to speed up internet

There are various factors that influence the speed of the internet:

    1. speed provided by the ISP or Internet service provider.

    2. the type of transmission channel used.

    3. the speed supported by the modem.

    4. the speed supported by the port ethernet (wired) or wireless card/WWAN (wireless) network card.

    5. the applications running background using internet bandwidth.

    1. If you find that the internet high speed is more low PSI plan, you can check your internet website like http://www.att.com/speedtest/ speed (you can Google/Bing for more information). If the speed provided by the tester, thus matches the ISP, you should check with the hardware of the internet (or modem).

    2. If the transmission is telephone wire, chances are that there may be noise in the channel, causing disturbances in the bandwidth. If the transmission channel is fiber line, the channel is noiseless and the speed is maximum.

    3. most of the modems available today are capable of supporting speeds more than what today to provide ISPS. If you use a modem that is old, you may change the modem, and then check.

4 once again, here, always the fastest cable connection, so there will be no problems here. Come to differs from the speed wireless technology, for example, 4 G is fster 3 G in the case of WWAN and 802.11ac is faster than the 802.11n, which is faster than in the case of WLAN 802.11a/b/g.

5 applications such as Windows Update or any other download being eats internet bandwidth speed and so down.

Microsoft isn't any tool to boost performance beyond these factors.

  • Try to download the first package of CS6 Design Web Premium 4.5 GB several times, but the download stops at halfway...

I'm using Windows (fully updated) 8.1 and Chrome.

This issue is really eat my bandwidth by having to remove and re-download the file. The final file has different size in the end, about 0.5 GB to 2.0 GB.

Use another browser or another wired connection or a download manager.

Make sure that your computer "will not sleep/standby mode" during the download.

  • First router users Questions

It's my all first time owning and you use a router, so I have a few questions that I would ask.

    1. my router connects (with flashing lights) constantly, or should it be unplugged when not in use?  (By fear it overheats).

    2. If I stay connected to a wireless port of my router at all times (on any given computer), he eats my bandwidth even if I'm not surfing the internet?

Thank you if you answer these questions a little silly. XD

For a first time router owner questions are quite normal. You can't cut anything and the security post is a good tip. If your main concern is the bandwidth, you don' t want your neighbors it devours. Insofar as your LAN or LAN you can leave that as well without any problem of bandwidth. (Although with wireless operate in some connectivity issues) Try not to confuse LAN with WAN. LAN = network, WAN is you ISP a.k.a your bandwidth. Finally your WEP key (which is what I assume you enter whenever you sign out) you can leave in and click 'Disconnect' or you enter it each time

  • Download speed drops to 15000 + kbs to 7000-12000kbs after the installation of Vista Ultimate

I've recently upgraded to XP Home to Vista Ultimate. I have Time Warner Cable as my ISP. After upgrading my download speed went from 15000 + kbs to maximum 12000kbs. My download speed has not changed.

I have removed the excess programs and am initialization with minimal configuration. I use IE8. Using Firefox is not better. Everything seems to work fine. Average download is now 9000-10000kbs. Time Warner Cable has checked evertyhing, street speed is 24000 kbs.

Somewhere, something must be running somwhere and eat my bandwidth. I can't find. Also, using Norton 360 v4. Can anyone offer ideas about what happened when I installed Vista?

So it comes to a computer you built yourself or built a generic, not a machine OEM brand? If it is an OEM brand machine you get the drivers from the website of the OEM, not directly from Intel. If it is a generic office, try to throw in a PCI network card and see if that helps. One you use is perhaps not all that compatible with Vista. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • AutoPlay video in an HTML article?

As the title says - I have a HTML article whose code begins a video game. It works fine in Safari on Mac, but in the Viewer, it touch me to start the video (or run the entire script?).

Some googling and asking indicates that this might be a limitation imposed by apple, to avoid hijacked web pages. Not sure about that.

It's the 'cover' the app and I need to start by itself, or I'll need to dump all the HTML features and just use it as a video autoplay.

Has anyone faced this before? Or is my code just bad?

    Thank you
    David

Yes, and to my knowledge, it is not possible. Apple imposes these restrictions in mobile safari to keep developers eat surprisingly bandwidth to users when they're on cellular connections, at least it's their reasoning. There used to be a work-around which a developer could simulate a click on the js to start a video, but who stopped with an updated version 4.2.x by apple.

  • After a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium, how long will it take to run updates and it will take a lot of bandwidth?

updates after clean install of Vista Home premium

I plan on upgrading the hard drive on my laptop two year old, which will require a clean install of Vista Home Edition full.  I live in a remote with the satellite internet service.  I would like to know in advance what will happen after the installation with the updates of the program.  I will ask you to install them? It would take a lot of bandwidth?

    Hi EllenCB,

Welcome to Windows Vista community responses.

Once you make a clean installation on your hard drive is erased. Now, when you install the operating system return updates that have been deleted will be delivered by Windows update to install on your computer. To save time and bandwidth, you can directly install Service pack 1 and Service pack 2 for Vista which would contain more updates. Of course when you run Windows update and when you try to download from the internet, your download speed will decrease. It is best to keep your system up to date which will allow your version of Windows to run better.

Before installing the update, run the checksur tool, this tool is running an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. Download the tool from the link below.

Is there a way to limit the maximum bandwidth that windows can do to its updates?

    Hello

It cannot be done by the operating system . There is a 3rd party software that can help control the use of bandwidth, but I don't know if it can control traffic updates (http://www.netlimiter.com/betas.ph p).

Otherwise 'play' with the time of the update.

Click Start / Control Panel / Windows Updates / corn on the left, click on 'change settings '. In the drop-down list, select never "Find updates".

This will stop the automatic download and installation of updates, but still allow you to manually run Windows Update.

  • Windows file sharing - a lot of bandwidth is consumed on ports 137, 138, 445 domain windows server 2008

    Hello

I have observed this for a few months now on my windows Server 2008 domain (all my clients are windows 7) and it drives me crazy.  My wireless nodes #1 bandwidth consumption is taken by 'Windows file shaing' on ports 137, 138, and 445.  I tried to pull the bandwidth on these ports on all of my users wireless using the wireless controller, then the claim of the user than even a small file as 100 MB ' would take hours to download.  If windows 7 OS is too talkative, I prefer to go back to windows XP?

What is the solution of my problem, I need to have my users to upload files and at the same time be fair with my bandwidth that does all my work of nodes and servers without really hard wire.  Help please.

  • Windows 8 is to lose my VERY limited and expensive bandwidth!

-All right, so until yesterday, I lived in the city and was given unlimited for my internet so I was not having problems, but I just moved in the country and the internet available only cost me about $10 per GB of data. I barely used the internet at all, and yet the use of my data continues to skyrocket as well when I do nothing. Today alone he has used more than 300 MB and I've been on the internet for a value of 25 mb of data max...

I already disabled live tiles, updates to the store and the windows updates, but somewhere, something is wasting all my expensive bandwidth.
My wife has a laptop computer with windows 8, which does the same thing.
I have lived in the country and is this expensive internet before with my windows 7 pc and I never had any problems like this.
I desperately need this resolved because I can't afford the huge internet Bill it will cause.
