I use Windows Vista. I created a folder for school stuff and now whenever I start my computer, it says repeatedly that windows Explorer has stopped working and tried several times to restart. Its a cycle without end I would appreciate help on this issue and in advance, thank you.

Hi Schrödingers, cat

·         Do you have a task scheduler to restart the computer?

·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: I suggest you perform the clean boot and check.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

Method 2: If the problem persists then try the SFC (System File Checker) scan on the computer.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

  • Windows Explorer crashes failed msvcr90.dll

    Friends

I have this most annoying problem. It happens on my computer and the computer of a friend. I have Vista Pro 64 bit and my friend a Windows 7 Home Premium, also 64-bit.

We both use the same two programs for a specific project, we want to do. A program is a data management program called FieldWorks, where export us the data in the format of LibreOffice. I think that this problem started during the installation of LibreOffice and then begins to export stuff in the program of FieldWorks.

Very often, when we click on an exported file in .odt (LibreOffice) on the desktop, or simply click anywhere in a folder on the desktop, where we store .odt files, then immediately the Windows Explorer crashes with the following error message:

Explorer Windows has stopped working. Windows can check online... Check online... The details of the problem are:

Problem signature: problem event name: BEX64 Application name: the Explorer.EXE Application Version: 6.0.6002.18005 timestamp of the Application: 49e02a1e fault Module name: MSVCR90.dll fault Module Version: 9.0.30729.6161 fault Module Timestamp: 4dace4e7 Exception offset: Code of Exception 00000000000552d 4: c0000417 data exception: 0000000000000000 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.6 locale ID: 1033 additional information 1: complementary 46e0 2 information: information additional 4ce498f1e2ebb3719af008d4ef97bedc 3 : 7 d 05 additional information 4: 729ac305dabb24e28fbe99019ecbbab7
Also my friend and I get the exact same message and the same fault Module name and version. It can happen several times in a row, insofar as we cannot get to any of the .odt files in the folder via the Windows Eplorer window or desktop, but I got a remove the .odt file in a command window.  Otherwise just Explorer to crash. :-(

I tried many things to fix this, among them:
    1. I re-entered the msvcr90.dll
    2. I learned that it is the program of MS Visual C++ 2008 that installs this msvcr90.dll and use it
    3. I removed all instances of MS Visual CC ++ Vista computer
    4. I removed all instances of the msvcr90.dll and restarted. Then I made sure that no file with this name has appeared again.
    5. even after that I still get this crash explore with this error message about this being the fault module msvcr90.dll!
    6. I used Windows find defective or missing files, sfc scannow. No gain.

How this possible error, if there is no msvcr90.dll is left on the system? And no Visual C++ 2008?

I then tried to reinstall MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable to see if that helped, but once again no change. :-( The same error came once again. This version of Visual C++ have not yet installed a version of msvcr90.dll but a msvrc100_XXX.dll

Until I deleted the MS Visual C++ 2008 (and 2005 and 2010) of my system, I noticed that the existing msvcr90.dll was not even the same version that says that this error report is the version of the Module of fault!

I am quite at a loss here. What can I do to solve this problem, which is annoying and time consuming? I could send one .odt files, someone at Microsoft to look at, or what?

    Thank you

  • Windows Explorer Crash when using the control panel

This is the type of an interesting question that happens to me only sporadically and usually only to a cold start.

When I shut down the computer completely for cleaning or install something, when restarting, open the Control Panel causes Windows Explorer to crash (note that this is not Internet Explorer).

It restarts immediately, but I lost some of the icons in the taskbar - especially the icon Sound Max.

If I do a reboot it comes back and I can use the Control Panel normally. Tried to remove items from the start menu, as obviously something is in conflict when it starts but it is like shooting in the dark to find the good start. I even reinstalled W7 with a lot of attention, but it happens once again from time to time. I ran sfc/scannow several times and all is well.

As long as I don't do a cold reboot it will work very well for weeks without a hitch. (Please no comments about just don't).

Someone else has a similar problem? My specs are lower and it has not changed when I updated to the latest version of the bios so I suspect something on W7, and I strongly suspect the driver SoundMax which is in fact very old for W7X64.

All updates are underway, including the latest which was supposed to increase stability for W7 X 64. I had added this update 4/28. An accident 29/4 good. I uninstalled the update and re-installed directly from the microsoft link. Sometimes it works, but not in this case.

I studied all the information mentioned in the error codes and most of the time, it led to speculation of different people to different causes. I've read that it could be a conflict with the driver Sound Max, this is why I suspect as well that it might involve the Nvidia GPU driver. Changed the GPU driver and no joy. Whenever I have ask W7 to check a solution that is not found. So, it happens once in a while, but there is nothing wrong? At least Microsoft knows something is happening--evidence of the update.

    Hello

Make sure that Windows Update is turned on and install the update KB980408 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/980408) - April 2010 stability and reliability update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 is available .

Issues that this update fixes this update improves the stability and reliability of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in various scenarios. This update addresses the following issues:

    • Windows Explorer crashes and then restarts when you access a third-party Control Panel item.

    This update solves the problem?

Often, a certain instability in Windows Explorer is due to the defective shell extensions and addons.
Consider using Sysinternals Autoruns or ShellExView. Disable Add-ons and non Microsoft shell extensions and verify the behavior.  If he went, reactivate the disabled extensions/add-ons, one at a time and see if you can identify who may be liable.
Try a clean boot, or boot into safe mode.  The behavior persists?
If you continue to experience the problem, consider creating the hierarchy of following registry keys in the registry:
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Windows error Reporting\LocalDumps\explorer.exe\
In the explorer.exe key, create a REG_EXPAND_SZ value named DumpFolder and set the value to%systemdrive%\localdumpsdata.  Ensure that the %systemdrive%\localdumps file exists, and then cause the crash to happen.  It must be a dump file in %systemdrive%\localdumps. Download the dump on your SkyDrivefile.

    Hi TodFranklin,

    1. when exactly you receive this error message?

2 did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

    Method 1:

Step 1: Start in safe mode and check if the problem persists.

Start your computer in safe mode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

Step 2: If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you can put your system to boot (in normal mode) to solve the problem.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 provided in the above article.

Method 2: I also suggest that you scan your computer with the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Important: During the scan of the hard drive if bad sectors are found, the scanner tries to repair this sector, all available on which data may be lost.

  • Download Itunes on my laptop just before, it starts to install, I get a message saying that windows Explorer stops because the prevention of execution of data has stopped installation

While downloading Itunes on my laptop right before you start to install, I get a message saying that windows Explorer stops because the prevention of execution of data has stopped installation.  Is there any solution for this?  I'd like to install itunes on my laptop.

    Hi Steve681229,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Answers forum.  Here's what worked for someone else.  Thanks Kevin

    Hi thrivenformore,

Please use the forum for Support of Vista,

You could try to add iTunes to the DEP exception list.  However, this behavior is not normal.  Go to the support forum of Apple for iTunes for Windows, search on DEP.  There should be a thread "How can I turn off DEP for iTunes?" or it Prevet planting iTunes? "which provide troubleshooting steps you might want to try before adding it to the list of exceptions."

How to add the program to the DEP exception list:

    1. Press Start, right click on computer and select Properties.
    2. in the window that appears, click Advanced (on the left panel) system settings.
    3. in the first box that says Performance, click on the settings button.
    4. in the window that opens, click the Data Execution Prevention tab at the top.
    5. There should be a box of exceptions in the middle of this window. Click the Add button and navigate to the C: drive, then Program Files, then the iTunes folder, and then choose the iTunes exe.
    6. Add the exception, and then click OK in the window of the DEP.

    Hope this helps, Kevin

    (2) remember to make changes?

    (3) what is the complete error message you receive?

    (4) what is the number of brand and model of your computer?

Step 1: Disconnect all external devices (printers, scanner, USB (universal serial bus) readers, etc...)  Except the keyboard and mouse and then start.

For the recovery of the computer back to factory settings, you must contact the manufacturer of the computer.

Note: Restoration of factor is a favorable condition of a computer as that set up by the manufacturer of the computer and is specific to the manufacturer. This process will put the computer to its original factory condition, data (and programs that were installed later) on the computer will be lost.

You may need to check the documentation that came with the computer to Factory Restore (System Restore) or contact the computer manufacturer.

Important: It is recommended to make a backup of your data before performing any Installation of Windows.

I don't know what to do. I'm not much of a geek...

The thing is, the problem occurs only after you have installed programs. Not directly after the time I restore settings, is probably not a hardware problem (I think).

Still, I installed an antivirus before anything else.
First of all, I tried Comodo several times. Then Avira. And now I'm with AVG. Thus, all the programs I download should be good.
