Windows Explorer crashes with photos

Hi, this problem started last night.  While I was trying to look through my pictures folder, that I kept getting pop ups saying that Windows Explorer has encountered a problem.  It is said that it is looking for a solution, and then it stops and restarts.  I don't know what could cause this problem or how to fix it.  My computer seems to work fine otherwise, this only happens when I'm looking in my pictures folder.  Any suggestions?

Hi Bell,

I would like to gather more information from the question

(a) when the screen blue are you?

(b) do you get any error code or error message?

(c) are you the blue screen while you open any application?

(d) are you an error when starting?

  • Windows Explorer crashes with video files (AVCHD)

I can't view or rename video files in Windows Explorer without it crashing.  I ran FixIt Center feature which checks the contradictory conflicts of video codec and one was found, but has not fixed the problem.  I am under W7.  I don't have other types of files in Windows Explorer that will crash, only video files.

The types of files are AVCHD Sond files.

At this point, it may be useful to try to capture an image of the crash explorer.exe user mode for more information on accidents.

You can configure Windows to create dumps of user mode. First, create a System Restore Point.

If you copy and paste the following text in Notepad and save it as a .reg file, then right click on the .reg file and select "Merge" to add to the registry, when the .dmp file explorer.exe plant should be created in the C:\CrashDumps folder:

  • Windows Explorer crashes failed msvcr90.dll

    Friends

I have this most annoying problem. It happens on my computer and the computer of a friend. I have Vista Pro 64 bit and my friend a Windows 7 Home Premium, also 64-bit.

We both use the same two programs for a specific project, we want to do. A program is a data management program called FieldWorks, where export us the data in the format of LibreOffice. I think that this problem started during the installation of LibreOffice and then begins to export stuff in the program of FieldWorks.

Very often, when we click on an exported file in .odt (LibreOffice) on the desktop, or simply click anywhere in a folder on the desktop, where we store .odt files, then immediately the Windows Explorer crashes with the following error message:

Explorer Windows has stopped working. Windows can check online... Check online... The details of the problem are:

Problem signature: problem event name: BEX64 Application name: the Explorer.EXE Application Version: 6.0.6002.18005 timestamp of the Application: 49e02a1e fault Module name: MSVCR90.dll fault Module Version: 9.0.30729.6161 fault Module Timestamp: 4dace4e7 Exception offset: Code of Exception 00000000000552d 4: c0000417 data exception: 0000000000000000 OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.256.6 locale ID: 1033 additional information 1: complementary 46e0 2 information: information additional 4ce498f1e2ebb3719af008d4ef97bedc 3 : 7 d 05 additional information 4: 729ac305dabb24e28fbe99019ecbbab7
Also my friend and I get the exact same message and the same fault Module name and version. It can happen several times in a row, insofar as we cannot get to any of the .odt files in the folder via the Windows Eplorer window or desktop, but I got a remove the .odt file in a command window.  Otherwise just Explorer to crash. :-(

I tried many things to fix this, among them:
    1. I re-entered the msvcr90.dll
    2. I learned that it is the program of MS Visual C++ 2008 that installs this msvcr90.dll and use it
    3. I removed all instances of MS Visual CC ++ Vista computer
    4. I removed all instances of the msvcr90.dll and restarted. Then I made sure that no file with this name has appeared again.
    5. even after that I still get this crash explore with this error message about this being the fault module msvcr90.dll!
    6. I used Windows find defective or missing files, sfc scannow. No gain.

How this possible error, if there is no msvcr90.dll is left on the system? And no Visual C++ 2008?

I then tried to reinstall MS Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable to see if that helped, but once again no change. :-( The same error came once again. This version of Visual C++ have not yet installed a version of msvcr90.dll but a msvrc100_XXX.dll

Until I deleted the MS Visual C++ 2008 (and 2005 and 2010) of my system, I noticed that the existing msvcr90.dll was not even the same version that says that this error report is the version of the Module of fault!

I am quite at a loss here. What can I do to solve this problem, which is annoying and time consuming? I could send one .odt files, someone at Microsoft to look at, or what?

    Thank you

The error that you are experiencing seems to be a known issue:

This problem can be fixed in an update of LibreOffice, so make sure you're running the latest version.

If you are running the latest version of LibreOffice or if the error persists you can try the following:

    Go to the following folder:

    C:\Program Files (x 86) \LibreOffice 3.6\program\shlxthdl

In this folder, right-click and rename the shlxthdl_x64.dll to shlxthdl_x64.old.

    Hi kathyd,.

    ·        You did changes to the computer before this problem started?

Since we do not know what is causing this problem, I'd suggest unanimous the event viewer on your computer and check the details in the window logs messages/error codes important related to the question, during the time where this problem occurs and after return.

Event logs can help you identify and diagnose the source of current system problems or help you predict potential system problems.

Access the link below to learn how to view and manage the event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/event_overview_01.mspx?mfr=true

You can try to start both computers in safe mode and check if it can open the folder where the MPEG 2 files are stored and if windows Explorer crashes. To boot to the desktop in safe mode keep tapping key F8 during restart. Once you see the option to start in safe mode select and press to enter.

I hope this helps. Post back with the required information.

    Windows XP service Pack 3

If you have SP3 installed, you also installed KB938828.

You can read here all the things that are included when you install SP3 (including this update), so you shouldn't have to install again.

If you get the DEP errors, I suspect a third party extension of the Explorer.  If someone offers you make an exception to DEP for Explorer, this is the wrong idea.

DEP errors occur when XP shuts down an application because she feels threatened by the latter.  XP should never feel threatened by his own substance - like Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer.  If XP gives you an error DEP of one of these applications, something is wrong with them and the best thing to do is to understand what the problem is and fix it (or I guess you can just start to try things and maybe get lucky).

Also, we are not a 'thing' on your system, what makes blind troubleshooting especially a roll of the dice.

But, let's see how you go with this idea of clean boot and optimization of the Microsoft Support Engineer and you can check if this may help.

  • Windows Explorer crashes constantly on the new Asus

I bought a new X53SV-SX288V Asus with windows 7 64 bit on it and after installing some programs Windows Explorer crashes constantly for some reason any...

I have restored the pc to factory a couple of times now, hoping it might fix the problem, but it is persistent...

Windows Explorer crashes often and sometimes it seems that the problem has disappeared, but then it happens randomly. When I restart the Explorer usually just, it freezes again and gives me the same error permanently after each restart of Explorer... it just crashes, restarts, block immediately, restart and so on...

I don't know what to do. I'm not much of a geek...

The thing is, the problem occurs only after you have installed programs. Not directly after the time I restore settings, is probably not a hardware problem (I think).

Still, I installed an antivirus before anything else.
First of all, I tried Comodo several times. Then Avira. And now I'm with AVG. Thus, all the programs I download should be good.

Side note: programs Evernote who install are all widely used programs like CCleaner, Skype, iTunes, Chrome,... All of their own websites, so I do not understand how they are the problem.

Is it possible that this is a problem material, even when the problem occurs only after you have installed (well known) programs?

    How to fix this problem?

  • Media players and windows Explorer crash

    Hello

Recently I got this problem where my windows Explorer crashed whenever I opened Control Panel, specifically, whenever I tried to view the system information. I tried a few "solutions" that I saw on the internet nothing has worked so far - this all started about 2 months ago, when I tried to update my graphic drivers.

Then a few days ago I was watching movies with my laptop and I fell asleep while the film was presented, my laptop is not plugged the battery flat overnight. When I woke up and return the laptop computer he would play no matter what video file with any of my media players (Windows Media Player, GOM or VLC) - when I try to open the video file, it simply says that GOM/VLC/WM has stopped working, then closes.

    Important notes:

-I am able to watch movies if I boot in safe mode (there is simply no sound.)

-I can also go in control panel - system of information if I boot in safe mode.

-I am running windows 7 (with the latest updates)

    -J' use a pavilion dv6.

-All music files open with media players, the problem is just video files.

I suspect it's a graphics related question, but I'm not sure. It works as it should when it is in safe mode, but I don't know how to say what is causing the problem.

Many thanks for any help :)

    Hi Mithrandir,

    I found the problem!

I updated the graphics driver and that seemed to do the trick - the players videos play in all media and is not any control panel crash or media players.

The only problem I have now is that after the backlight driver update does not work (although it is a driver issue it seems that many people have had) - I was wondering if you know if it is possible to reinstall the previous driver (not just go back to it, but have in fact all this re installed because I think there's maybe a corrupt file or something like that which was causing the) problem)

So, as I thought it was the graphics driver that caused the outcome...
