Windows Explorer stops responding when you open system properties

I recently noticed that when you go into the system properties (by, either using the shortcut WIN key + Pause Attn, right click on computer > properties etc.) after a few seconds of the window is visible there is a notification that Windows Explorer is not responding, crashes and restarts, with this restart is sometimes not properly and not being not managed to make a new creation of Manager explorer.exe process tasks.

Here is information on the problem:

I'm having a problem with the Windows Explorer does not when I try to access the downloads folder. The problem seems related to a file, a Java .exe file I downloaded. I got out the folder other files in desktop and using research and move the file, but when I try to do something with this file, Explorer crashes again.

No video file in the folder, the file problem seemed to be a Java update file. I managed to remove using an third-party uninstall program, and the problem seems to have disappeared. My best guess is that the update program has been altered during the download.

Using the classic interface to restore functionality of Windows Explorer

After you have installed the free Classic Shell , you can customize Windows Explorer more closely to how you want it, the quote below is just a way to do it. Click here to see some of the options that you can customize, and here is the FAQ page for the classic interface.

A solution that works for the restoration of some features.

    1) install the free Classic shell.  It's very customizable and works like a mod for Windows Explorer rather than a full blown replacement. You don't need to install the classic Start Menu option, but you can if you wish.
    2) restart the computer.

    3) launch Windows Explorer (Start - computer) and turn on "Always show Menus" (organize - Layout - check menu bar). It's just for the configuration, you can disable it again later if you wish.
    4) right click on the menu bar and turn on the 'Classic Explorer Bar.' This adds a series of icons for cut/copy/paste in Explorer. Basically, it also adds the "Configuration" icon
    5) go in the configuration and from there, you can change things to your heart's content. To kill the horrible record-jumping 7 Windows, place you Vista in 'Style Navigation pane. You can even hit back to XP mode if you want (this adds lines to the tree of folders and adds a classic icon "+" for the expansion of folders). The Windows Vista folder display style looks about the same as the view from Windows 7, but it gets rid of the horrible blow.
    6) adjust other settings you want.

After that, you can activate the toolbar and menus walk back to explore if you wish. Explorer Windows seems largely the same, but folders is no longer jumping around.  Vote for Microsoft to fix this bug.

Now if only MS allows to code correctly so that we don't have to mess with third-party applications to get Windows actually works...

  • Windows 7 explorer.exe crashes when you go to properties.

Hello, I have a windows 7 Ultimate x 64. I was working on my PC after using Windows Update, and when I go to check the properties of 'Computer', it crashes. I tried rollbacking that updates, but that has not worked, and the system restore is irrelevant. Also, now I have to pay almost all of the programs to run in "Windows 7", on a Windows 7 compatibility mode! Is it a mistake to register when you enter the properties of the computer? Please help since my error is specific.

    I managed to fix it.

Those who have the problem, try turning off graphics driver via Device Manager and go to the properties of the computer, if I'm right, it should not give the error explorer.exe. If so, I recommend that you have installed the previous version of the driver for the card.

And auggy, I erase the DLL, they did not affect the operating system. Thanks for your help.

  • Windows Explorer stops working when USB drive is ejected

    Hi all

I'm having a problem with the windows Explorer. When you eject a USB device, windows Explorer stops working and must restart. It also stops working when trying to get the properties of the USB device. I watched "Event Viewer" and there is an error log that says this:

The failing application name: Explorer.EXE, version: 6.1.7601.17567, time stamp: 0x4d672ee4

Now, I had this problem on my home computer and tried to replace the file SHLWAPI.dll with whom I had the internet, but it bugged my computer and had to re - install windows. Now, this computer works fine. I would get a solution to what keeps all my files and programs since to reinstall all my programs and backup my files on my computer to school will be a big hassle.

  • Error "Windows explore has stopped working" when you open the file in my documents

Original title: opening a file in the folder my documents

Whenever I try to open a file in my documents folder, specifically a CV that I downloaded on a construction site. I get a message that windows Explorer has stopped working?

    Hi dalintn,

    1. What is the file format of the document?

    2. are you able to open documents from other locations?

    3. did you of recent changes on the computer?

Check if the similar problem persists when you access the document from any other location on the computer.

    Method 1

This error message can occur if there is some system files corrupted on your computer. I suggest that you run a SFC scan, which would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows Vista installation CD.

For more information please visit the link below.

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

    Method 2

If the previous step fails then I would suggest that you do clean boot and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    I hope this helps!

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows

older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then

I have to start managing the tasks then. What can be the problem?

    Hello

1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
2 did you recent hardware or software changes to your computer before this problem?

Step 1: If the problem started recently, then try to restore the system on your computer and check.

  • Windows Explorer stops responding in Vista

When you are working within my documents folders (sometimes, when I am trying to add a subfolder to organize one file, other times, it is when I click on a file to open it), my computer "freezes", screen fades a little, and I see a small note in the left corner of the screen saying that the named file does not.  Subsequently a notification that Windows Explorer does not happen and I gives me the possibility of closing the program, restart or pending.  I used to have this problem only when cut and paste between documents.  Now it happens almost every time I try to do anything in my document files. Any advice on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.

It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool if you have corrupted files

"How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the files on system missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

If SFC detects serious flaws, you may need to perform a repair upgrade Installation or relocation complete if you don't have a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If you can borrow a DVD of Vista from Microsoft you save doing a reinstall full:
