  I had a particular problem. Whenever I have plug in a USB key and try and access it, I get a pop saying "Windows Explorer has stopped working." the file is closed. If I wait a long time (i.e. 10 seconds), I might be able to get into the drive without any problems, but even when there is no guarantee. The problem persists in each USB slot I use. In addition, it is not that the computer is not able to detect it. It can detect and identify that it is a USB flash drive.   I tried your methods, but still did not work. In the meantime, I did a full restore to two partitions, and it worked. I guess the problem was I uninstalled a few unwanted games, which came with the pc and the anti-virus of the trial.
