Windows Explorer (Win7Home) crashes while I read my external drive; Autorun has been disabled.

I have an external drive of My Book essential to 3 and while reading and you are trying to transfer offshore it Windows Explorer crashes on.  It will crash when browsing or file transfer.  Research led me to believe that it was because the AutoPlay.  I have regedit-ed on external drives using NoDriveTypeAutoRun (which had to be created), and then changed value for all readers, then finally used MS Fix - it tool completely disable AutoPlay.  All forms have not stopped this crash to occur.  Can anyone help?

  • Use LR5. Because of volume and the size of the photos, I use an external hard drive. When opening LR5 it references only the local hard disk. How can I change the refernce to read the external drive. Thank you

Use LR5, due to volume and the size of the photos, I use an external hard drive. LR refers only the Local Drive C not outside. Where do I change this by LR read the external drive. Grateful for the help.

    Thank you

LR is not a file Explorer. He knows only the disks that you imported photos of.

If you have previously imported these photos, then later moved into the external hard drive, go to the library files and "update location" Panel on the files that you moved.

If you have never imported these images on the external hard drive, perform an import by using the option 'Add' (not ' copy') to keep the images on the external hard drive during import.

My copy of Microsoft security essentials would be not updated and I had restarted and can't get back in it is saying I had a Trojan horse and he removed twice, but he was still there.  If someone else gets this problem to not restart or you cannot recover.

Reinstalling Windows can sometimes be a difficult process and most of the time that it is not even necessary to solve most of the problems.

In case it is necessary to reinstall Windows XP Pro, it is imperative that you back up all your data first. did you?

In addition, if a system is compromised or broken, a clean install should be made. This means that you must configure your motherboard BIOS to boot from the installation CD (instead of the usual default, which is the hard drive). The way to do this varies according to the brand and model of your PC.

Assuming that you have the correct CD for your PC, these instructions should work for you:

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html

    http://michaelstevenstech.com/bios_manufacturer.htm

If you want to help more away from us, please answer the following questions:

    1. What is the make, model and model number of your PC?

    2. assuming you have Windows XP Pro installed on it, what level SP is in?

    3. you have the XP Pro corresponding correct for her installation CD? In other words, if you have an OEM version, you must use a CD of the OEM version. Here again, a commercial version should work as long as it is not already in use elsewhere. What level of SP is the disc in?

    4. you say that you can not connect to Windows, yet you mention that MSE has given you a message. Please specify.

Finally, once you're convinced that all your important files are backed up and if you want to try the Windows XP system restore (or other methods) before something as drastic as reinstalling Windows, we can give you advice. And then, if damage malware is really bad, it may not be worth it. But if you want to try, let know us.

  • Windows Vista Home Premium - problem "task manager has been disabled by your administrator".

    Nice day

I had problems with my task manager (I use the operating system "Windows Vista Home Premium"). Evertime I try to access the program, he returns with "task manager has been disabled by your administrator". I used different tools to remove malware and got rid of a lot of problems but still can not in Task Manager.

I created a new user with administrator account and logged on it and had no problem until my 'Task Manager' program open, but when I went back to my origional administrator account the same problem occurred.

Why can I get to "Task Manager" in my new account administrator and not the former?
I still have malware in the old account or do I go into my registry and restore something?

I am at a loss, and any help would be appreciated. I'm worried that I can always have some kind of malware that prevents me to access my task manager in my old account.

Please give step by step instructions because I am not computer savvy computer even when it comes to fixing the problems of this kind.

  • Sharing multimedia files has been disabled because a windows required setting or a component has changed.

Earlier today, I was a game on my Xbox 360 and decided I want to play music in the background, using the guide of 360.

I went to "Select Music", searched my PC in the devices menu, and it does not appear. This has happened before, I just figured out my PC was in place. I went to the 360 Dashboard and looked back to the server. He has not yet shown upward.

I went to Windows Media Player on the PC that I share the media selected in the dropdown under library and went to share multimedia files. (Here's where it gets confusing...)

He gave me a message saying "sharing multimedia files has been disabled because a Windows setting required or a component has been changed." I hit very well, and I went back to the sharing of multimedia files. Now, I had the option to check the box "share my media". I checked, hit OK, made sure everything was good to go. The unit has not yet appear on the dashboard. I went back to the sharing of multimedia files. To my surprise, I received always «sharing multimedia files has been disabled...» »

This is the part of the confusion: if I turn on media sharing, Windows it cuts back.

I tried all the solutions online that I could find, which includes deleting the files in the Windows Media AppData\Microsoft folder. Register a dll to the administrator. Ensuring that you have the "Windows Media" folder. All take very well.

Basically I narrowed down it to: nothing works.

Each person could fix their problem by using the solutions proposed in other posts on other forums/blogs. Mine is recurring. In addition, my media is on a separate internal hard drive, which I added to the Windows Media Player files to add multimedia elements. I went and deleted from here. I still have the problem of sharing.

All said Microsoft is to restore your computer to a previous state. It's not really useful. I don't want to go just restore. I want to fix it where. In addition: restoration would not help, I don't know how long this problem exists, but I have not known about it.

-Very well, after a fresh reformat the hard drive and re-installing Windows, I finally reduced the problem.

I have not had ANY problems with the computer... Until I installed my Adobe CS5 Master Collection again.

It turns out that the part of the Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended software called Adobe Presenter 7 causes the sharing to go haywire.

I deleted Adobe Presenter 7, and just like that, sharing has increased again.

In addition, Adobe Acrobat 9 was causing my sidebar to go haywire, so I advanced and which takes off as well.

Have not had a problem since.
