Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or damaged. Status: Oxc000014C

Hello - anyone can help me find a solution to my problem?

My problem: Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or damaged. Status: Oxc000014C

I tried everything the sytem advised through SafeMode etc... Also, I tried to reload my OS - last updated through the windows update site. However, he did not - probably because all updates from MS, which means that it would not load from the DVD.

It's a whole new system customized with MS Vista 64 bit, Office 2007 Untimate, Asus MB, 250 GB HD ATI video card. I used Vista for almost a year and had no problems until today. All of the original software.

I have my thesis and several files, I was working on someone - I was doing consulting work to supplement my income as a student... Unfortunately, when I finally used my system last night it was ok. Now I canoe get my system up and running.

Mark Merci for your comments.

I found myself communicating directly with Microsoft and they were able to get my system up and running without losing me data. Hooray for Microsoft!

My system is back to normal and I am assuring you that all my files are backed up on DVD.

You need to change the boot sequence:

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  • Unable to laod Windows because the system registry file is missing or damaged

Is there a way to restore a corrupt registry file?

usually, when you receive a message citing the "missing" files, then it may be simply that they became not indexed by the master file table, e.g. mft.

a check disk running will be re - indexing the file system.

so if the computer is everything just starts plu, then you will have to start with a windows cd and get to the prompt of disk and run the commands >: chkdsk /r

Incidentally, I don't know if you could use a bootable xp cd to boot the recovery console.

    Hello

That's what you should see when you use a Vista DVD take to do a Startup Repair:

  • the system registry file is missing or damaged

When I try to load up vista premium 32 bit edition on my laptop, a screen will appear and say the system registry file is missing or damaged and the custom of vista so load up, I just need my pictures of my son on my hard drive, all the rest does not matter, I even tried to use one of these inclosures of hard drive to see if I can get the data on the hard drive on my other computer laptop but has not been successful, I just need to know how to recover the system registry file on.

Do you know when this problem started?  Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started.  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points.  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.  System Restore restores the registry among other things, and this should solve your problem.  You should probably use the facility or the recovery disc to access this feature.

You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD (if necessary, you may need to do this drive on another PC / laptop).

    I hope this helps.

    Good Lluck!

  • Satellite L300-11V - system registry file is missing or damaged

Need help, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L300D-11V, which, when turned on gives the message that the system registry file is missing or damaged.

My problem is that when the first installation program, I did not back up files of recovery on DVD in the event of such problems like this, my questions are, is there any way around this without the recovery disk to reinstall Vista from hardrive?

I can't find a way to do this or Toshiba will provide a recovery disk or a software download (for free or to buy) and it is the only option that is available to solve my problem?

The laptop is still under warranty for another 11 months am I covered for the hardware/software in this situation he has taken over the shop I bought that they said they couldn't do anything without the recovery disk.

    Help, thanks in advance.

    Hello!

You can reinstall Vista without the recovery disks. If want to repair your computer by restoring it to the original factory State, you can do so directly from the hard disk (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer"
"and follow the instructions in the menu).

Normally you had recommended to burn the recovery disk when you first start. There is a reminder that pop ups from time to time to burn the disc.
Toshiba does not provide a software download, it is all preinstalled on your laptop.

After the reinstallation, please create the recovery disk. If you need it and didn't burn this, you have to pay.

    Good bye

Recovery discs would be Windows Vista installation files.  It would be safe to use if they are needed when the sfc/scannow scanning.

A recovery disc is a general term for media containing a backup State initial factory or a favorable condition of a computer such as configured by an OEM manufacturer or an end user.
