  • Family safety report says that a blocked Web site has been visited several times.

    OT: The family safety report.

On my report it says that a blocked site has been visited 120 times. How is this possible when it is blocked?

    Hello

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

Have you checked by accessing the site blocked in the child's account to see if it's blocked or not?

Safe family activity reports will include sites that are visited but blocked. Also, sites that was redirected from other sites, or use a feature of this site (such as the Facebook Like function and share) will add also upward to the activity report.

I suggest you to check by accessing the Web site of the child's account. Also, make sure that the child's account does not use proxy connections.

  • Family Safety prevents the installation of the desktop app from SkyDrive

I try to install the SkyDrive desktop application, to synchronize the files of my daughter to SkyDrive. His account is a child account on Windows 8 and therefore subject to parental control restrictions. When I log on her account and try to install the SkyDrive soft I usually 'blocked by Family Safety' pop-up, followed by an error from the installer to SkyDrive, SkyDrive could not be installed and the error code is 0x800704c7. I clicked on the 'blocked by Family Safety' pop up more than once and expressed my permission to use the application by typing my password, but nothing helped. The same thing happens again.

Does anyone have an idea on what could be going on here?

    Hi, I did as requested.

I should mention that there is a possible workaround for this problem solution, i.e.
    1. Disable security for the family
    2. Install SkyDrive
    3. Enable security for the family
    4. Give permission to use SkyDrive, when he complains
I just performed these steps and SkyDrive seems to work very well.

  • Windows Family Safety API from c# 8?

Someone knows a good way to access the new Windows 8 parental from c#? Or any other programming language or scripting tool also?

I want to write a small program that would connect to the Microsoft Family Safety website and check a number for a child is standing.

I often allow full web access (temporarily) leave my child work on projects and then forget to turn it off. Thus ranks more games and bad. That's why I need the app: current settings to check several times a day and warn me if restricting web access has been disabled.

In Windows 8, they leave the Windows GUI access to this web site: http://familysafety.microsoft.com. I don't know there is a way to access from Windows via a kind of API (I have Windows installed on another computer 8.1). I can't depend on the analysis of HTML pages, and an app like this is going to die the moment they change the web site (which is at any time).

    No documentation on MSDN.

I found a few tips here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5711277/change-users-parental-control-settings-using-wmi-in-c-sharp but this appears to be an old API that does not access the accounts the on the computer on which it is called. I need to connect to all that is the equivalent of http://familysafety.microsoft.com (I'll pass the info to login) and then read the settings.

    Thank you!

Recommend that you try a reinstall. Disconnect any external devices and internal hard drives except a new drive and the floppy and CD drive.

You need the SATA drivers on a floppy disk (see below if you do not have a floppy drive.)  Start the installation from the XP disc.  Chose to delete all previous partitions.  At the point where he requires special drivers (key F6), insert the driver disk into the drive and allows the computer to read.  The rest of the installation should lead to partitioning and formatting the drive then a facility.

If no floppy drive then change the bios in IDE compatibility mode.  Install Windows by removing all partitions and to rebuild a partition, format and install it.  Once windows starts to install the SATA drivers and then change the SATA mode bios.

What version of Windows Live Family Safety do you use?
    Version 2011 (15.4.3538.513)
    Choose your operating system version:
    Windows 7

    Additional details

    • I don't know how unbullet these (way to go), but which is not my question...

        • I changed the password on my live account to account.live.com

          • I can connect to most Live services with this account by using the new password (I'm now connected with it)
          • It will not work with the installation of the parental controls, I installed on two computers (for example, to work around a site "in person" or temporarily disable the software.)
        • I uninstalled parental controls on both computers and reinstalled with the web installer Live Essentials.  The real account seems to authenticate correctly the first time, he asks the account to use when opening of parental control for the first time.  After that, "the Windows Live ID or the password is incorrect.  Please try again ".
        • I did a reset of password.  This most recent new password does not work (but it allows me to sign in other online like hotmail and other services).
        • I thought it was a kind of "replication" or something - the password is changed for 4 hours, still does not work (only in parental control).
        • My id is * address email is removed from the privacy *
        • This isn't because of the caps or keyboard failure.  Two keyboards.  I pressed each key very carefully several times, I put the right password.
      • Thank you for any input!

    Hi fsscayc,

Regarding your password problem, I will convey this to our Windows Live team as a feature request for a future version of the program. The team of the said values and recognizes the suggestions and feedback from users of the Windows Live products. You can also submit this page http://feedback.live.com/ and select "Windows Live Family Safety".

When you go to fss.live.com and it redirects you to the website "Live Essentials", this indicates that the account has not yet been defined in the client Windows Live Family Safety. You must connect to the customer first before you can access fss.live.com.

On the prompt "only an adult can connect as a Parent Family Safety. Ask an adult to log in.' it is possible that you tried to open a session with a Windows Live account does not have the required age of the customer sign of family security.

Let us know if you have followed all of questions about this.

    Thank you

  • Windows has asked for the same activation when I did

So, I bought a Dell computer with Windows 7. Recently, I tried to install Windows XP Mode, and they keep telling me to install Microsoft Genuine. I install but the site won't let me download Windows XP Mode. They said he failed and redirect me to to buy genuine Microsoft Software Web site. I did not, but on the page, they show a few ways to activate Windows. I followed it by clicking 'activate' in the start menu > search. There is activate Windows so I click on it. Because they required the product key I just close the window. But after the restart, screen blackout curtains and the activation window appear saying activation has expired. After clicking on cancel, I check in my computer > properties and see that Windows is activated with the product ID.  I don't want to turn on the computer every time to see a window and cancel it. Also, I don't know where is the product key on my computer (it's a Dell Precision 390 upgrade of Windows XP). Those who know how to solve this problem?

I suggest you try to get a satisfaction of the seller. (threats to involve the application of the law for fraud can help)

the retail price for a full version of ultimate is about $319,00
the only other choice is to buy a genuine windows. family premium is $199 price but I see that some legitimate retailers are discounting about $170,00
You can try to get a your manufacturer OEM xp recovery disk if they have yet.
