Windows family vista premium 64-bit fails to install net framework 3.5 sp1 error code 1603
I tried several times to install this update for net framework and have had no success at all. I searched for an answer and also failed with that as well. I thought that I have that would give a shot. It's probably something very simple, but you know how it goes with computers. I'll paste the log of the try to install net framework 3.5 sp1 below:

That's what the Setup log gives me after that windows is unable to install net framework 3.5 sp1. I sure would appreciate it if someone could help me solve this problem. I just bought this pc about 2 months ago and it's the first question that I lived with her. Thank you
To successfully install the update, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework on the computer, and then reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework on the computer. You may need to work through more than one of the following methods.
Method 1: Manually remove and reinstall .NET Framework
To remove and reinstall .NET Framework manually, follow these steps:
1. remove the .NET Framework.
a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.
b. double-click Add or remove programs.
c. Note each version of the .NET Framework is already installed on the computer. Then, uninstall all versions of the .NET Framework.
d. When you are prompted, restart the computer.
2. use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to clean up the State of MSI database for all versions of the .NET Framework.
. Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. The following file is available for download from the Microsoft Download Center: http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe
a. install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility as an administrator or a user account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
b. Click Start, point to all programs and then click Windows Installer Cleanup.
(c) in the Windows Installer CleanUp utility, remove all Windows Installer for the .NET Framework applications.
3. restart the computer.
4. download and reinstall all the versions of the .NET Framework that were previously installed on the computer.
To download .NET Framework 3.5, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=333325FD-AE52-4e35-B531-508D977D32A6&displaylang=en (5. When you are prompted, restart the computer.
Note When you have reinstalled all the versions of the .NET Framework, you can use Windows Update to check for the updates of the .NET Framework.
Method 2: Use the .NET Framework automatic cleanup tool
This tool is not designed as a substitute for the standard uninstall procedure. You should try to perform an uninstall by following the steps in method 1, earlier in this article, before using this cleanup tool.
The .NET Framework cleanup tool removes the .NET Framework for you. For more information about how to obtain and use this tool, visit the following MSDN Web site:
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2006/05/30/611355.aspx
Note that this cleanup tool deletes shared files and the registry keys that are used by several versions of the .NET Framework. To ensure that all versions of the .NET Framework work correctly, if you run the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework, you must first remove all installed versions of the .NET Framework using this cleanup tool. Then, you must reinstall all previously installed versions, starting with the version number the lowest.
Suppose you have the .NET Framework 1.1 and .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer, and you plan to use this cleanup tool. In this scenario, you use the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 1.1 first and then use the cleanup tool to remove the .NET Framework 2.0. After you remove the two versions, you reinstall .NET Framework 1.1 and then install the .NET Framework 2.0, in that order.

license for windows family vista premium 64-bit, but need to copy
I have the license for windows vista Home premium 64-bit. I had to replace the motherboard in my pc.
so I had to reinstall windows, but only had a copy of windows xp from an old computer.
what I have to buy a new copy of windows vista?Hello
If vista is preinstalled, motherboards change should be done in conjunction with the manufcacturer of the computer
preinstalled OEM licenses are tired to the original material on which they are installed
the license dies when the computer dies
If a retail license, you can change morherboards
borrow a vista microsoft dvd; not a HP, Acer recovery disk etc
Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer
they contain all versions of vista
This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

I have a hp a6242n with vista home premium 32-bit installed and I need the 64-bit version while I can add little ram, I can only drive versions or should I just buy a new copy?
Hello
You can buy a disc of 64 bit vista with license of full version of somewhere
Try your local computer repair shop
then perform a new installation of it who will clean up the hard drive clean during the process
Microsoft sells more than vista as they moved on windows 7
You should get that instead
and here is a link to the HP vista and windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit drivers for your model of machine

Using Windows Vista SP2 (32 bit), failed to install IIS
Using Windows Vista SP2 (32 bit), cannot install IIS. Tried several of the resolutions found on the web to turn (uninstall .net 3.0) to uninstall WAS. Still nothing works. Look at the event log, it appears that the TrustedInstaller.exe is in a loop that indicates that Windows Servicing began a process of change state KBxxxxx package installed to installed. I have this day to the next release and we found thousands of entries repeated over and over as it in the event Log.
I would say the TrustedInstaller.exe has been hacked or corrupted, but daily MS patches are applied without error. I also ran the SFC/scannow command without success. I tried to restart, don't turn off unnecessary services, execution of installation in Mode safe... go!I'm surprised there isn't a utility which will ensure the components that need to exist in the version required for IIS, well... does not exist!Any ideas? 1. What are they? IIS 5, 6, 7.0?
2. make sure that your version of Vista can support.
Go to programs and features > column to the left, turn Windows has on or off > scrolling Internet Information Service > expand (+) sign and make sure if its level of compatibility under Web management tools. Home Premium can go as far as IIS6. > Make sure check marks are on the elements you need to install IIS.3. from what I understand, the version of Vista Ultimate and superior is required to install IIS 7.
This is as far as I know.

Large (100 gig +) file transfer fails in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Hello
I ran out of sensible troubleshooting options and am hoping that someone on the forum may be able to provide a solution or additional troubleshooting ideas.
Scenario: I created a 178 concert file, an image of my old laptop XP file to be used for a virtual machine, on an external drive of USB3 for import to my new Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit computer laptop (ASUS N61JQ i7, 4Gig of DDR3 RAM). Operation failed for copy of file on the Win 7 machine (current patches, drive D:, NTFS, 250 free concerts), without error messages, regardless of the method.
Troubleshooting:
Removes the file structure - exemplary fine for XP SP3 on a different machine, a smaller version (image of the C: drive only) copies very well to new laptop Win7 and creates the virtual machine that works.
Eliminated the USB drive - used 2 different drives
Eliminated from the USB - used Ports all three USB 2 and 3 ports and all failed, tried mapping to machine XP and do a drag and drop and copy and paste and even set up a ftp server on the Win 7 and tried machine download failed him via gigE and 802.11nall.
More advice in this forum and others, I downloaded Teracopy who do not - this failed with a message indicating that "the operation failed due to a file system limitation", but wikipedia shows the limit of file of an order of magnitude larger than my 16 TB file.
I also tried PowerShell coming to stop the copy without error message (resource monitor showed no activity on the external drive - the source of the file).
I also have:
- tried disabling / uninstalling antivirus
- run the copy in safe mode
- I tried to find answers in the newspaper of the events without success.
All seemed to fail somewhere after 100 gig mark. Often (but not always) failures caused strange behavior, including being unable to
, unable to task switch, unable to stop. Often (but not always) a power switch reboot was necessary. My suspicion is that the copy of file is using some pool of memory that is needed by other processes of basic and cause misfortune wide system. Interestingly, a new file by concatenating a line of 50 concerts three times for 150 gig in the same location as the destination file, a new file in target in the same place creating worked!
After having exhausted the limits of my personal creativity I now submit this problem to the collective wisdom of the tribe. A big thank you in advance, Richard.
Success!
I tried another file copy utility FastCopy http://ipmsg.org/tools/fastcopy.html.en, he also failed, but with a slightly different error message:
"The requested operation was not successful due to a file system limitation665"
Search on Google that the message has led to this article:
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/winserverfiles/thread/e0d55018-CF06-43ca-8e20-dd2bb8494c96
... his fundamental premise - de-Frag - did not help (drive was off fragmented already), but the link internally to:
http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781134%28WS.10%29.aspx
which is a NTFS bible made me think on the compression of files and directories and of course the compression in this directory was put on, I never use the disk compression so I don't know how it's happened, but once set to 'off', the flow of the copy more than doubled and the copy proceeded until the end!
Things that Microsoft might want to address:
- I don't see anything in the literature suggesting there is a limitation to the compression of files. Fixing it, or the weakness of advertising would be a good thing
- None of the built-in tools advised of an error or managed properly, one would think that NTFS has been mature enough so that it would no longer be a problem.
Sort of, it's fixed now:
Solution: COMPRESSION SET OFF
Best regards and happy new year
Richard

When I try to format C: my system does not allow because of the Vista OS.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
