Windows Fax and Scan - move the default location of the c:\ folder...

I moved to Windows 7 RTM (MSDN version) with two internal hard drives. I added the location of the additional folder for "My Documents" on my D:\documents\keithha folders and all successfully which, by default, save location.

How can I move the folder "documents" by default for the d:\?

Thank you

  • Windows Fax and Scan - what the appropriate use for the concurrent users to save to the network program?

I'll try to keep this simple - as I already asked this on other forums without the answer. My environment - Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 32-bit client machines. A computer needs to scan patient documents to a network shared by a group of users folder. There will be many people who use this computer even through all day (several shifts - environment 24 hours/7 days).  This is why I need multiple profiles from windows to all save the scan to the SAME network location.

Currently I am trying to achieve with Windows Fax and Scan and using the ' Scan 'option under 'tools' routing. "  There is a check box (once in this option) for "network location".  I am using this option, but its does not work and that's the whole problem. Its supposed to AUTOMATICALLY record each scan to the specified network location, but it does no such thing. The scan is not registered at all in fact it is just in the interface user of Windows Fax and Scan... double you click it, and then it shows you the image.

Some information note for helping people answer this question (and any help is appreciated):

    (1) * YES * the network folder, I am trying to record is a valid network folder and * IS * accessible via my network of different devices

    (2) * YES * the user of this journal on the computer with the scanner * ALL * read/write to have rights to this location of the network folder

    (3) * file YES and printing sharing is already active on clients

If you please if someone either knows how to solve this problem, or at this stage if you can even suggest a different (cheaper the better) application that will scan to a network location please let me know.

One might think to a disabled feature labeled as "scan routing" and then a field for "network location", it would be simple as plugging in the network folder and checking a box - apparently it isn't.

    Thank you.

  • Can not see faxes sent in Windows Fax and Scan after the migration of Windows XP

I have recently updated from Windows XP to Windows 7. After the upgrade, I don't see my faxes from Windows XP. I used to have a few of them, but now it is empty after the upgrade. I was able to find the actual files of the NT\MSFax\SentItems C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows but it does not appear when you open the program. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I was able to find similar problems on other forums, but their corrections does not apply on mine. It was the first part of the file name for the current user under HKEY_USERS.

Which edition of Windows 7 you are using?  Ultimate may be able to use Virtual PC (XP Mode).  Editions can use other Virtual Machines but require an XP version under license and unused, while which comes free with XP Mode.

If you open Windows Fax and Scan and click on tools and then click Fax accounts, there is an option to remove all the accounts listed.  After you have done this, you can configure a different account.

You can try uncheck Windows Fax and Scan via Control Panel / programs and features / turn Windows Features on or off / printing and document Services / Windows Fax and Scan.  This allows to uninstall it.  You restart and then reverse steps to reinstall.

You cannot create a PDF using Windows Fax and Scan.

You will need to use a third party program to create PDF files. Use your favorite search engine to locate the PDF creators.

  • Problem with Windows Fax and Scan.

I have a Canon MG5420 and Win7 64-bit.  All of a sudden, the Office does not see the scanner.  The print function continues to operate correctly.  Problem occurs regardless of USB or WiFi connection.  The only change in my system is a migration towards Office365.  Other than that, no change. I tried all the basics: refreshed drivers, uninstalled the printer and re-installed.  Any thoughts on what could be the cause?  I get the message error is "No. scanners were detected.  The utility Scan Canon IJ can see the scanner, but I prefer to use the Windows fax and scan.  Any ideas?

Unfortunately his is possible because there are different drivers and stacks of driver for the printer and the component the same multifunction device installed on the client computer scanner. In a case when the right printer driver is installed and available from the scanner driver may be missing or may be incompatible with Windows Fax and Scan requires the parser must be WIA 2.0 compatible, a TWAIN compatible scanner only for example will not work with this app).

    Hi Mohamed

Thanks for your posting in the Microsoft community

You can check if you have my documents in C:\Users\ (username) \My documents correct location.
If the problem persists, you can deactivate and then activate Windows Fax and consolidated expansion of print and Document services from the windows on or off check and option features if this solves the problem.

You will need to disable the function, and then click OK. Now open Windows Fax and Scanand check. Yet once activate the Windows Fax and Scan and check if you experience the same problem.

See the link below to display the window for the deactivation and activation windows fax and scan under Print and Document services and check option.

  • Windows Fax and Scan cannot detect Photosmart C4580 all-in-1 scanner connected to the wireless network

I have no problem printing or scanning when I connect my C4500 to PC via USB.  When connected via my home wireless router I can print OK but can not scan - it's the same for other users and computers.  Windows Fax and Scan gives me the message 'no scanner found. '  I need to work so that all users on my netwrok home can share the scanner.  I use Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks Travis_C (HP).  I actually found the solution just before receiving your answer!  I discovered that, although the Solution Center says it would uninstall the existing files before allowing me to reinstall with the latest version downloaded, it didn't remove all the files.  I only discovered this because the new facility has not taken me through the whole fresh installation procedure, he simply asked me what additional features I wanted to install and asked me if I wanted a local printer or network etc.

I thought that there must be a mistake or problem with whatever existing files were left and the new facility would not correct it.  So I used the control panel to uninstall the existing files, and I made sure that everything was gone.  I then used the last download to reinstall, this time through the new correct installation procedure, and everything now works perfectly.

With this method I always had a problem on another PC, giving me the same problem I had before.  I realized that this was due to a USB dongle connected to the PC to a wireless keyboard that seems to affect the installation.  When I removed the dongle installation worked again perfectly, and I now have full printing and scanning ability on all PCs.

I think the installer for this printer wireless (and perhaps others?) should be updated to solve the problem, and also the center of Solution must be fixed to ensure that if you uninstall the software it should not leave anything.

  • Windows Fax and Scan does not appear in the start menu

: I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium and you want to (a) send faxes via a modem local fax and b scan docs from a local scanner. I mean, there should be a program Windows fax and scan shown in the start menu. I clicked all programs on the start menu, and it doesn't always show. Suggestions?

    From: Hal

Fax and scan is available in Windows Vista Business and Ultimate editions, it is not available in any of the Windows Vista Home editions.  Since you have a version of Windows Vista Edition family, the only option of fax is a third-party product.  These products work under Windows Vista:

    Snappy Fax

    http://www.snappysoftware.com/

    RKSFax

    http://www.rkssoftware.com/rksfax/overview.html

    VentaFax

    http://www.VentaFax.com/

    FaxTalk FaxCenter Pro 7.5

    http://www.FaxTalk.com/products/ftfcp/index.htm

I have seen reports that the free version of BVRP also works with Windows Vista:

    http://www.usr.com/BVRP/bvrp.asp

    BVRP PhoneTools

Given the above comes with the new USR modem, I don't know if it will work with no - USR modems.  Alternatively, you can send faxes via your Internet connection provided you are willing to pay for an Internet E - Fax service:
