Windows has completely changed since the automatic updates

My PC with Windows 8 began an automatic update about 3 days ago. I can't do anything to cause this. It took a long time to complete. Anyway, when it's over, it was as if I had a completely different PC. Now, when I turn it on, it goes straight to the office rather than to start with the tiles Page. When I change to the Start Page, it's completely different. She added 8 new applications, and the bottom of the page is different. If I want to pin a site or application to the Start Page, this selection has gone, and I don't know how to get it back. I don't know what happens, but I wish it was the way it was. What can I do or where I can find what to do to fix this? Help, please!

Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

You receive a message error when you say, "If I want to pin a site or application to the Start Page, the selection has disappeared?

It seems that the Windows 8.1 is now installed on your computer.

You can refer to this article:
Overview of Windows 8.1
http://www.Microsoft.com/OEM/en/products/Windows/pages/Windows-8-1-Overview.aspx#fBid=1CAmY2naqXJ

As you mentioned that you are unable to pin sites or app to the start screen, I suggest you to refer to this article and check if that helps.

Please note that ntoskrnl.exe is a process in the cycle of the initial startup on your computer program.

Try to load your "last known good configuration".

The issue is also known to be caused by a short circuit in the ground cable into the keyboard cable. Make sure that it is not the cause of your error by replacing the keyboard with another keyboard or just disconnect the keyboard from the computer. If still no luck, you may need to restore the file ntoskrnl. exe as follows:

1 - insert the Microsoft Windows XP CD. Note: If you have a recovery CD or a restore CD and not a Microsoft Windows XP CD is probably the procedure below does not solve your problem.

2 - restart the computer and that the computer starts, you should see a message press any key to boot from the CD. When you see this message press any key.

    3. - in the Microsoft Windows XP setup menu, press the R key to enter the recovery console.

4 - Select the operating system you want to set and enter the administrator password.

    5 - type expand d:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ c:\windows\system32

    6. - you will be asked if you want to overwrite the file, type Y and press enter to replace the file.

7 - type exit to restart the computer.

  • Problem with a VM server: "the virtual disk parent has been changed since the child was created.

    Hello!

I have a problem with a server that does not start.

We had a virtual machine running on VMWare Infrastructure 3 with two hard drives and an instant backup of them.

This machine has been removed from the inventory, but when it has been recreated, the secondary hard drive is mentioned for the basic-disk vmdk
instead of being referenced to the instant vmdk and used for a few days.

All changes made after the snapshot, were kept in the delta snapshot file, which is not loaded.

We are with difficult to reference the secondary disk for the snapshot file. We tried to edit the .vmx and hard disk files
to correct the CID made reference, but when we try to start the virtual machine, we got this error:

"The virtual disk parent has been changed since the child was created.

I think it happens because we made a blow-up of a secondary drive a few weeks after the backup snapshot. We spent 30 GB to 50 GB.
And because it has been referenced and used in another vm.

  • The download window appears no information since the last update of Firefox

I had to create a new account to help just to get here.

Your navig was fucking up like crazy since the last update. I had nothing else to connection problems in several sites. Sites would connect at random, then I wouldn'; t be able to reconnect. I tried to make an account on a new site and had to try 11 times crazy until he has known. and just now, when I tried to ask a question of troubleshooting, my username and password would not work. So I sent a request for password reset. Nothing happened. I sent at least FIVE password reset requests. None of them went through. When I tried to enter a different user name, thinking maybe that was the problem, as soon as I re-typed and clicked any where outside the name space, he would return to the name that was already there. What the hell!

I didn't still the problem, I first want to contact you about!

The download window no longer works. I download a file, I click on "Downloads" to see how long it will be, I don't see anything. Gross, white, white. And Yes, I know that some files download so fast, they're gone until I open the window. I mean great videos megabytes and disc images. No indication that they are downloading at all.

All of this has happened since 19.0 installed. I need to disable the updates in the future to keep the browser working properly!

Well, I found out what was going on. It turns out it was a confrontation with an add-on after all:

    http://update.DownloadHelper.NET/index.html?TS=1361662188

So it makes sense why it persists even after reset and reinstalling. Sorry I lost all the time, but I enjoyed your trying to find solutions.

Although I hope that the problems I've had of logging in and out of sites disappear soon too.

  • Your copy of disk image has been changed since the last opened or saved (Mac OS)

I sometimes get a message that "image disk copy has been changed because the file has been modified, opened or saved. The OS 10.6.6 and I use CS5. It happens on any specific file. All my files are big enough. The current that what happens on is a body which is 3.26 G not flattened. I have the ignorance has always ignored the message and saved anyway. I never detected damage or noticeable changes in the files after ignoring the warning, but after looking for Adobe forum and read a thread on what is happening in CS4, I guess I should be more careful and do a save as and change the name of the file. I started this thread because no one reported the issue happening in CS5.

The files have been all given to me by ftp as psd, tiff or raw camera files.  I work on the copies of the originals in no other program but photoshop and open and closed files several times before getting the message about disk being edited copy. All my files are saved on a hard drive internal and backed up to a time capsule device. I am on a network, but I'm the only user of the network. The files are worked and saved on an internal hard drive on the same computer. They are never open on another computer which is usually disabled. I don't use any antivirus software except what is native to the operating system. The only other applications that I am running when this message are safari, mail and sometimes fill.

Why I get this message and what is causing changes (which I can't find) to disk copy?

The message means what it says: something outside of Photoshop changed your file on disk since the time that Photoshop saved the file.

We do not know what might change them - just the operating system returns a different modification to the file date that applied when Photoshop saved the file.

Last night was automatic updates from Microsoft.  Today, the resolution of the screen and the icons are huge.   Tried to change the resolution of the screen through Control Panel but can not find the same as before.  I tried to adjust the zoom level on Chrome but now everything is long and lean.

  • Many aspects of the system have been changed since the last update

My Windows 7 Ultimate did an update this morning at 03:00. When I woke up and went to my computer at 6:00, I noticed a lot of things have changed. All my settings are gone. All my passwords are gone. All my files on my desktop disappeared. All my themes Aero disappeared. All my email settings (Eudora OSE) have disappeared. My preferences folder disappeared.

It is as if Windows 7 is returned to the original installation and you will have to start all over again. When I go to programs, it seems I have not lost anything, just the folders on my desktop which had shortcuts is gone. When I go to desktop customization, all themes that I had loaded down disappeared.

I had created a restore point yesterday. It's over. This morning, the update created a restore point. I could guess the use this restore point, but will not be my system try to rerun the update? I just live with it and try to implement brand new? Don't they test these updates before release? Very frustrating!

    Hi TheFox22,

There are several things that interfere during the installation of Windows update and cause a few problems.

I suggest that you perform the restoration of the system to the point that was created before the updates were installed.

If you want to install the Windows update again, you will need to disable the security software installed on the computer and also the third-party program installed on the computer step called clean boot, it's to stop their interference during the installation of the update of Windows.

    Disable the anti-virus software

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and then go to Windows update and install all available updates and check manually.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

    I hope this helps!

  • WebGL has stopped working since the last update of NVIDIA drivers. Decommissioning of the pilots did not help. WebGL is enabled, but it does not compile shaders and fail.

I use Firefox on Ubuntu 12.04 49.0.2. Until a few days ago, WebGL worked. A few days earlier, it has stopped working (one day after I installed the latest version of the Nvidia drivers). I tried the option "enable force", without success. WebGL context is created, but debugging, it looks that the shader is not compiled (so made is not possible). I already tried to change the options on the angle, without success. I tried to downgrade the graphics drivers and their modernization once again, without success.

My nvidia drivers are version 304.132 (latest version)

OK, solved. The problem is caused by a bug in the NVidia driver, as shown here:

    http://UNIX.StackExchange.com/questions/321185/after-update-GLX-works-only-for-root-NVIDIA/321339

    After decommissioning, everything worked fine

Sign on the user account as an administrator, but cannot change the automatic updates.

Under updates important area is grayed out and cannot select to change

    Hello Bill,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

As I understood it, you experience the problem, you cannot change the automatic updates even if you are logged on as an administrator user account. The option is grayed out on the system.

    Certainly, I understand your concern.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if that helps.

    1. Open the editor of the register of the command RUN by typing "regedit" and click OK.
    2. In the tree on the left, open following files-online HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUpdate.
    3. Remove the automatic "Update" folder This will remove all previous settings for automatic update.
    4. Open the automatic update of the control panel and option as usual.
    5. If automatic update is always gray, type the command "gpupdate/force" RUN and click OK or restart the operating system.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

I hope this information is useful.

  • Virtual disk parent has changed since the child was created.

I recently had one of my virtual machines go down and I couldn't connect to access anything whatsoever, so I rode as an extra hard drive to another virtual machine in order to access the data I needed.

Once I had finished I he took off the other VM and proceeds to the power on the virtual machine, but I got an error of:

"The virtual disk parent has been changed since the child was created." The content of the virtual disk ID parent does not match the ID of parent matching the child content. »

Reason: The virtual disk parent has changed since the child was created. The content of the virtual disk ID parent does not match the ID of parent matching the child content.
Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/4e24c6fe-3c2ad61e-a57c-e4115bbbce6c/SNCTrillium/SNCTrillium-000003.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

I read upward through the knowledge base of VMWare on the modified files, but I've never had to do that before and I'm not sure about how to go on this subject as I've never used the vsphere CLI either.

I am currently using ESXi 5.0.0 with vsphere client 5.0.0. I've attached a screenshot of the error.

According to the snapshot between SNCTrillium - 000001.vmdk and the basic disk SNCTrillium.vmdk is broken, which means that the basic disk has been changed. I have attached an instant replacement for the SNCTrillium - 000001.vmdk with a fixed string that should allow you to open the virtual machine. However, since I do not know what and how much data has changed on the basic disk, I can't tell you how much data corruption, you will see. So you better take an another snapshot to be temporary once loading hard file attached, in order to ensure the current hard data files cannot be changed.

    André
