"Windows Installer has stopped working". After going to 'manage' under 'computer', I find that windows install is missing from the directory 'services '.
I managed to solve the problem by doing something with my registry. Now after a week his new broke and I don't remember how I fixed it. I am running windows vista ultimate. I discovered that it was broken again by trying to download java. HALP.
I rebooted my computer in any way, and nothing has worked. However, it seems even e-mail links have stoped working.
I can only suggest that you back up all your personal files and folders you want to keep in a flash drive or an external hard drive, then...
1. If your computer comes with a Vista installation DVD, you can use it to perform a repair installation.
Repair for Vista installation
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html
If you do not, find a friend who has a. Make sure it has the same version of bits as yours.
2. If you have a set of recovery disks created at the time you purchased your computer, use and restore your computer to 'presets' (as the first is out of the box)
If you do not have a set of facts, contact the manufacturer of your computer, ask a set of recovery disks. The cost is very low and it is well worth the expense.
In the same Helena ask to speak to a technician. Ask the person to teach you how to access your recovery partition (if you have one) and how to use it to restore your system.
The recovery partition was the installation by the manufacturer of your computer. They know exactly how to use it.
With my limited knowledge, that's all I can help you.

Someones with a better knowledge of the computer may have better ideas to solve your problem.
Please wait for another entry of others.

Whenever I run windows update, and try to install an update for Vista, I get the error message"
"Windows Modules Installer has stopped working and was closed"
. This has happened for quite awhile and I tried many suggestions on the web. If you do an internet search, you will see this seems to be a fairly common problem, but I can't find any official solution of Microsoft. I am afraid that I do not receive the latest updates and security patches so would like to help with this question.
Thank you
Luke
Hi guys
I had installed up-to-date antivirus software and my problem seems to start after an update from Microsoft. Do a search on the web and you will see similar stories. I spent so much time trying to solve this I think it's better just to do a re-install. Certainly not the resolution I had hoped, but appreciate this type of questions are almost impossible to solve the problems through intermittent mail such messages.
Thank you

Report ID: e6dfd048-d6e2-11df-9660-00271383b7feThe operating system is Win 7 x 64. Video card is a Gigabyte GTS450OC1 with its latest driver running on an Intel DP55KG MB with 8 GB memory Corsair XMS3. The system was fully functional and stable immediately before the update. I don't know which of the 18 patches is in conflict with the nvwgf2umx.dll file. Device Manager reports no hardware problem with any component.
In my attempts to solve the problem, I run chkdsk f, sfc/scannow (which have reported no problem) and reloaded the video driver (without uninstall first). Nothing works so far. I even tried to defragment the master file with Diskeeper 2010 start time Table Defragger (based on another post, I've found), also without success.
What is the reference for this?
This may seem like the thing the more janky to post, but I got the same error several months:

And miraculously all started working again. I'm running a GTX570 with latest drivers nvidia from Scripture.Note: You probably shouldn't be move/rename things in System32 unless you are confident and have your data backed up. It worked for me, but who knows you. -
Windows Installer has stopped working and access is denied installation KB942288-V3
original title: Windows XP SP3 installation problem
My windows installer has stopped working. I tried several 'fixed' found on the net, but nothing is done and would be grateful if someone could guide me through the solution. Windows XP, SP3.
In 'Services', 'Windows Installer' has been designated 'disabled '. I changed this "manual".
msiexec /unreg works ok.
msiexec/regserver gives an error: "an event could not invoke any of the Subscriber.I have downlaoded and ran KB942288-V3 and got ' Setup error. Access is denied. "
I watched the permissions in the registry and seems to have all the permissions are ok, but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?
Thanks for any help
Hello Kaiser,
I would say that if you update your PC from SP2 to SP3 all your files will remain same.
Once you do a new Installation or a custom don't store all your network cards and other device drivers.

Windows Installer has stopped working on Vista Ultimate 64 - bit SP2
Hello
My Windows Installer has stopped working all of a sudden (probably common last week). I get no error message at all. It simply doesn't get it. The programs can be installed and uninstalled by there own systems updated, but the changes are not reflected in "programs and features". When I ask Windows Installer to run under programs and features, I get the usual verification pop-ups, but once I click on the last approval, nothing happens.
I tried to install a new Windows Installer from the Microsoft Download site and each time, the program "check updates" and I get an error message that says "this update does not apply to your version," (to paraphrase). I tried to install Windows 6.0, v-2, x 64, but when it does not work I tried all (LOL) with the same result.
At first I thought that my computer can was struck by a malicious code, so I ran MSE, remove malicious software (FULL) Windows for January and Advanced System Care 3. All scans is come-up 100% clean!
I tried to restore my computer to a point 3 days does not. As Murphy's law would have, I disabled the restore before January 12 points.
Windows Update online might work. I get notifications for optional updates for MSE and AFAIK, they are applied.
Edit: One more important thing, the uninstall on Advanced System Care 3 feature does more either. It's almost like the hooks to the installer of Windows have been removed to that also.
Installation service seems to be very well and the value 'manual '.
Any thoughts on the subject? I can reload Windows from "day 1", but would rather not. Laughing out loud. I have my drive so. :-)
Thanks in advance for your help.

on dv6 fingerprint reader has stopped working after installing Norton 2012
Fingerprint reader has stopped working after installing Norton Internet Security 2012 on both of my notebooks from HP.
Product name: HP Pavilion dv6
Operating system: Windows 7 64-bit
Error message in Device Manager under biometric devices in Device Manager displays an exclamation mark beside validity sensors (WBF) (PID = 0018). The following message is under the general tab: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) ».
Driver is present and seems to be up-to-date.
Appreciate your help.
I have finally isolated the problem of my software lack of HP dv6 fingerprint reader. I think Norton Removal Tool, available online at www.symentec.com/nrt, was the reason. I am sure this conclusion because the exact same problem occurred after I installed Norton Internet Security 2012 on laptop HP same as my wife. I tried, in vain, to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the biometric fingerprint device provided by Validity Sensors, Inc.
After spending a day and a half to try to "solve" the problem, I decided to restore my system and go back to the prior agreement of the point of the installation of Norton. Thank you HP to make this process quick and painless. Don't forget that if you installed anything after the restore point, it will have to be reinstalled.
Fortunately, there's a less intrusive on CD of Norton removal tool. This utility uninstalls an older version of Norton you are requested to restart and then installs the latest NIS. It is a method of removal safer that wide brush offered by the Norton Online link, which wipes everything remotely suspect.
After reinstalling Norton Internet Security 2012 from the CD, everything works as it should, including the fingerprint reader.

HP Installer has stopped working
I try to install the printer software HP on a Windows 7 Professional 64 bit computer. When I run the file it complete extraction and then I get the error message ar 'of HP Installer has stopped working ". I have two options - 1, close the program, or 2. Windows find a solution to the proglem and close the program. These two close the program.
There is a solution for this problem?
It does not show that HP Photosmart C6180 is compatible with Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit computers.
The drivers come from HP to make them compatible with Windows 7 computer. I would check the HP website to see if you have the latest driver of game for your version of the Photosmart printer.

G72-a20EM screen has stopped working after updating the BIOS F.48.
How is it possible that BIOS update recommended could turn off the LCD screen.
Currently I see almost anything on the screen, but vga port works. But increasingly,.
Intel graphics card is not recognized.
G72-a20EM screen has stopped working after updating the BIOS F.48.
What can I do to fix that?
Good news!
I found the working version, and it is version F.08.
Supposedly new version have different Active cables, and this is the reason why the screen is dark.
So, case closed, everything is perfect.

The standard weather app on my iphone 6 has stopped working. It shows just my wallpaper grayed out when I try to access. The app can be restarted or deleted and reloaded? If so, how?
No, the soft part of the operating system, so it would mean reload the iOS together. Have you tried a forced reboot yet?
Close all open applications by double-clicking the home button, and then drag to the top of the application window until it disappears from the screen.
Reset your device: press and hold the home button and the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black, and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

On my installation of Vista, all windows updates no longer work. If I try and run them from Windows Update in Control Panel one starts to run but then it just hangs. At the same time, I get a message "Windows install Module has stopped working and closes". If you look in the services, it is crushed, but restarts. The update remains always hung. It doesn't matter what update I try and run, I always get the same result.
When the computer is shut down, it also tries to automatically install updates. These also hang on the first, which means that I have to force power off the computer.
Don't know if this is related, but I don't think that SP2 already installed - it kept if crush (don't remember what was the error message). When I restart in safe mode it tells me that I'm still on SP1. I followed all the suggestions on how to get SP2 installed for the error I received, but nothing has worked.
Do not really understand what I have really installed a lot of "_" on the PC, it is a "clean" installation (about 1 year now).
Any ideas? Really, I don't want to have to do a re-install, but I suspect that is where I'm heading unfortunately.
Hi AndrewInNZ,
Thanks for visiting the site of the community of Microsoft Windows!
I would like to ask you some questions for a better understanding of the issue:
(a) did you try to temporarily disable the security software and check if updates are smooth?
(b) you are using a firewall in addition in instead of the windows firewall? If so disable (temporarily) of the third party firewall and look for updates.
It is usually caused by a 3rd party firewall that it blocks the internal ports.
Check out WERCON for more information-
1) Click START | wercon.exe type in the search box start and click on enter.
(2) select "View problem history", under 'Windows identified problems' with the right button on a problem, and then select "view problem details. Click "Copy to Clipboard" export to text document
Also reset the Firewall setting:
1) Click START | type FirewallSettings.exe into the start search box | Click on FirewallSettings.exe above | Select the Advanced Settings tab. Click 'Restore Defaults ' | Click on apply (if Hi-lighted) | Click OKCheck the status of the service as well:
Log in as administrator-
Start button | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Administration tools
Double-click on Services
(Provide the administrator password or a confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right click on the 'Windows Modules Installer' service, and then select Properties.
Select the general tab - make sure that the startup type is manual
