Windows is enabled, but the event viewer told me to reactivate

I bought my computer in November 2009 from a retailer, mainly for purposes of e-mail etc and have had no problems since. I'm almost 70 years old and not computer savvy. However, recently I found that there is a newspaper in the event asking Viewer I have activate WINDOWS within 14 days. I go to the WP Activation screen and it says that Windows is already activated! I do not how to proceed and this causes me a lot of stress...

The problem is that the installation was probably activated by a first hack to bypass activation and licensing. Installation of the SP3 probably broke the hack (as she partially designed to do), allowing the system to properly assess the license for the first time.

You can try to make a report of piracy to MS - I don't know how they treat XP installs today, but I suspect that they not offer free replacements more. http://www.Microsoft.com/piracy/

Your true only option is to purchase a valid license for Windows - MS stopped selling XP Mwdia Center many years ago and I doubt that there are legal copies available and it definitely not worth the risk to try to buy one on the internet.

This means that you must purchase a license of Windows 7 - and because of the history of this system, it would be a retail full one.

Installation of Windows 7 is enough - easy, but you should be aware that such a facility will require to reinstall all of your programs and retrieve your backup data. You should backup your data to external storage before starting such a procedure.

For the most part, I think you'd be OK with the basic family version, or at most, Premium family edition (Home Basic edition may not available in some markets).

Before considering even WIn 7, you must run the Upgrade Advisor, to make sure that your machine can run it (most of the built machines at that time hould have no problem) - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/downloads/upgrade-advisor

Hope that helps a little? Post back if you need more.

  • I built a new system. Transferred to the hard drive and video card, but everything else is new. Restart Windows as it begins to start. I can get into safe mode and found event id 7026 and event id 7001 in the event viewer.

As mentioned above, this is a new system, but with a more older IDE hard drive with windows xp pack 2 service (I think). When you first start, it says that windows is not stopped correctly and asks me to choose whether to start it normally or without failure or last known working configuration. When I choose to start windows normally, it will load up to a point. The screen of Windows Xp will come with the slide bar. It will then restart. When I choose to start in safe mode, a bunch of 32 file system scrolls upwards on the screen. I don't remember if it of normal or not. He takes over in SafeMode but. I went to the event viewer and got the following errors.

I did find something online that contains all the system boot or start specific drivers. Windows and harddrive was working in another computer just before he was switched. Let me know if you need other information.

    Thank you.

First of all you are missing probably a number of device drivers, particularly the network card driver and the driver of the motherboard.  Use your XP disk to perform a repair installation.  This should go a long way toward you're going to get.  If your new box has a driver disc that should help a lot.  You can't port XP perfectly the way you did.   It usually requires a repair installation to fix the hardware abstraction layer. Parameters of scanning has been:

    • System
    • Errors
    • 1-20 errors, valued at twenty.

What are these errors and they are nothing to worry about?

I have Nero 8 on this system and have an updated hosts file the running here: http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm

Not sure, but I may have changed a network setting to activate the new hosts file work properly.

Seen these errors for a while. system works well and smoothly.  No symptoms of malware or infection seen or found.  I would call these software errors as they seem does not affect the operation of the system.

    XP Home Edition SP3 P4 2.8 2 GB RAM

    Oh yes :)

I have never used the program VEW and don't think I will check it - I just look at the Event Viewer logs the old-fashioned way (manually) if I think that there is a problem, but that might just be the old me.

It is true that XP Home doesn't have Group Policy Editor, but all policy settings are always available via the registry.

Some malware will change your GP settings and cause problems.

I have a little import registry will correct all the ones I know, so if someone has these symptoms, any flavor of XP, they are running, I'll just send the script because sometimes you will be not able to solve the problem, even if you have not the GP Editor.

The registry always import work - and work well for XP Home or XP Pro.  If you have the symptoms and XP Home, what would you?   Start the import operation of the registry.

If you're curious, off on my SkyDrive it is a spreadsheet Excel (Group Policy settings) who has all the parameters of GP and where they are in the registry.  I do not recommend start searching, but it is useful to know where things are if there is a problem.

I would not allow the connection of a security XP stuff unless you think you're being attacked.  More and verbose logging slows things down.  My Event Viewer Security log is empty.

Find the links to the Microsoft Support Engineer for the most part useless to actually solve a problem (because it help you with your problem), if someone has a question or point of Event Viewer, I usually just send them this:

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

The most interesting newspapers are usually the system and Application logs.

Some newspapers such as security and Internet Explorer may be completely empty or have just a few items.  The default settings for XP wants do not connect all this activity, unless you need to solve a problem in these areas.  If you enable logging for them the papers fill up quickly and could adversely affect the performance of your system with all the extras (often unnecessary) activity.

If you have Microsoft Office installed, it has its own newspapers, and they can be empty or occasional boring activity very little or, if there is no problem with your desktop applications.  It's normal.

Not every event is a problem, some are informational messages that things work very well, and some are warnings.

However, no event should defy reasonable explanation.

Each event is sorted by Date and time.  Errors will be red Xs, warnings will have yellow! s.
Informational messages have white is.  Not every error or warning event means that there is a serious question.

Some are excusable at boot time when Windows starts.  Try to find only the events to the date and time around your problem.

If you double-click on an event, it will open a window of properties with more information.  On the right are black up and down arrow keys to scroll through the open events. The third button that looks like two overlapping pages is used to copy the details of the event in your Windows Clipboard.

When you find an interesting event that occurred at the time of your question, click on the third button at the top and arrows to copy the details and then you can paste the details (right click, paste or CTRL-V) the text in detail here for analysis.  Remove all personal information from your information after you paste If you are forced to do so.

If you paste an event, it will look something like this annoying system startup event:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Service Control Manager
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 7035

    Description:
The Remote Access Connection Manager service was sent successfully a starting control.

To get a fresh start on any log of the event viewer, you can choose to clear the log (the log backup is available), and then reproduce your problem, then just look at the events around your show and troubleshoot events that are happening when you have your question.

You can search for events on the World Wide Web and get ideas.  It's where people events they see and then to the top of their questions, ideas and solutions:

    http://www.EventID.NET/

If you find your event in the discussion, the first idea or discussion does not necessarily mean it is the "answer" to your situation, so read through all the ideas to find the one that sounds more like your situation.

I just installed win 7 Ult 7 days.  In the event viewer, I got 1000 errors and I was wondering where I can get help? TY

And the list continues to become more mistakes as the months go bye.  Usually after 3 monts, my PC slows to a crawl, and I have to reinstall Windows & Ultimate!

It is very annoying.  I'm not the smartest when it comes to the PC, but I know enough when I have a problem.

Now, while I was with PC Cleaner Pro, I allowed a representative to take control of my PC to help set, and he went into the event viewer and showed me the error 1007 in

the event viewer.  He told me that only a technician 35 Microsoft could fix tis problem.

I would like to know how to solve these problems myself.  If that means classes or tests, I'm ready to get there!

But for now, I just want to know how to clean and fix the errors in the event viewer

So if you could tell me please small whet you need to me to help him with this problem, I'm ready

It's really annoying tio do reinjstall windows every 3 months.  So if you can help, I would be very happy VERY MUCH!

    Sincreley,

Errors and warnings in the event logs are not usually a sign of a major problem.

Unfortunately, there are many technical support providers who refer clients to the event log in order to convince them to pay for questionable services.

Use of cleaners and Tune up utilities is not recommended. They can often cause problems.

Use the construct in Windows utilities

    http://www.Microsoft.com/athome/Setup/optimize.aspx

Ensure that all remote access program is deleted from your computer.

Use a search engine to find information on all the events that occur frequently, specifying the event id and source, for example search for "eventid 512 capi2. Try to avoid scam sites that are always asked by this kind of research. Stick to sites of Microsoft or somewhere like www.eventid.net which is a good source of free information.

  • Errors and warnings in the event viewer on the new laptop

I have a HP 2000 Notebook PC with the product number QE279UA #ABA

Bought and started using it at the end of December 2011.

-Since then, I had immediate problems with the WiFi adapter (HP tried to solve the problem by sending a new network card, but the problem does not present yet so I never installed)

-He had 3 cases where the laptop closed by himself for reasons unknown (he didn't feel not enough for overheating hot, and with it being new, I don't see it being already a reason), tonight being one of them, so when I saw somewhere online read the event viewer, I see as since 22 December 2011 I had 279 errors, 596 warnings. I do not understand one of them of course except the 3 criticals hence my laptop a intestinal shutdown. I have a feeling that these numbers are not good, given only to being less than 2 months old, but I don't know exactly what to ask about what to do. I wish I could have someone to look rather than try to describe the problems through e-mails and forums, but I don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to bring to Geek Squad or the other. How should I proceed?

    Thanks for any info.

Warnings are normal and can be ignored.

Mistakes can happen, I have 42 in the last 7 days, but my system works fine. Windows manages quite well the errors, and generally, they are not a problem, but will record in all cases. It takes a trained eye to sort through this and understand if there is a serious problem or not.

Criticism can be a problem, but looks like they are at the unexpected stop, so no useful information can be drawn from those.

If you go to control panel (display the icon) and click Action Center, that's where things that go wrong get reported you, if it is clear from all the messages, then you can ignore the event viewer.

You have a problem with the unexpected stops, they are very difficult to unravel by the normal user and needs professional diagnosis.

You are under warranty with HP? If you are, you can contact HP on the problem, make sure you have your personal files backed up before instructions from HP to resolve the shutdown problem.

  • The Event Viewer error on startup: "the scheduled task of CARPET met a failure during configuration data collection. HR = 0xC004F00E.

I use Windows XP with AMD processor clocked at 1.6 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. This error appears in the event viewer whenever my computer starts. I don't know if it's doing any harm. can someone advise?

original title: the scheduled task of CARPET met a failure during configuration data collection. HR = 0xC004F00E

    Hello Steven,

Did you ever receive notifications that a virus or malware has been removed from your system recently?
My only thought is that it is the remains of an infection on your machine.
It is most likely harmless, but I don't understand why you'd be concerned.
Do you have any task scheduled to run at startup using Task Scheduler built into Windows?
I would check to see if there are tasks to run at startup:
  • My computer is slow and I checked the event viewer, and it says I have reached my limits of interruption of security.

My computer is slow and I checked the event viewer, and it says I have reached my limits of interruption of security. I ran Netstat-no, but data flashed on the screen, but I can't freeze it at the screen to display the data. What keys down to hold the data on the screen to display it.
    Thank you, OTTO

    Hello

Try the steps below and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

Run the fix provided in the link below to reset TCP/IP and check if that helps.

How to reset the Protocol Internet (TCP/IP)

    Note:

Step above contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • Windows restarts by itself. Event Viewer says pushed user control.alt, delete or start button when I did not.

    Auto restart is disabled.

Please post that those event (s) so we can see what they look like and provide more information about your system/question:

Here is a method to display specific information about individual events.

To view the logs in Event Viewer, click Start, settings, Control Panel, administrative tools, event viewer.

A shortcut to the event viewer is to click on start, run and enter in the box:

    %SystemRoot%\system32\eventvwr.msc /s

Click OK to launch the event viewer.

The most interesting newspapers are usually the Application and the system.

Errors will be red Xs, warnings will have yellow! s. information messages have white are.  Not every error or warning event means that there is a serious question.   Some are excusable at boot time when Windows starts.  Try to find only the events to date
and the time around your problem.

Remove personal information from your information
After having stuck if you are forced to do so.

If you paste an event, it will look something like this annoying system startup event:

    Event type: Information
    Event source: Service Control Manager
    Event category: no
    Event ID: 7035
    Date: 14/07/2010
    Time: 17:54:18
    User: Jose
    Computer: computer

    Description:
The Remote Access Connection Manager service was sent successfully a starting control.

Maybe someday the dialog box 'ask a question' forums XP will ask these questions automatically when a new thread is started so I don't have to ask every time.  It might even be possible to solve a problem in a single response when enough information is provided.

Please provide additional information on your system:

What is your system brand and model?

What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What you see you don't think you need to see?

What do not you think that you should see?

Fill in the blank: my system was working fine until this happened: _.

If the system used to work properly, what do you think might have changed since the last time, it didn't worked properly?

Do, or do not. There is no test.

I decided to implement the points for a new puppy instead of a pony!

  • Download ID5032 failure auditing on the event viewer.

Original title: anonymous logon in the event viewer

3 (network) domain of anonymous logon appears in my security on Vista event viewer, Audit failure ID5032 follow-up.  Is this normal or is this malware?  There are two implications of Internet Explorer running in the Task Manager, but two relatives when I close the browser, IE9: is this normal please?  I also get Audit failure ID5038, any advice as to the causes, remedies and the dangers of these events would be much appreciated, thank you.

    Hi robin,

The two instances of IE9 running in the Task Manager is normal.

  • Why is the Event Viewer so slow?

This question runs through the back of my mind for years, so I give him another chance. Since Windows is using newly designed event viewer (from Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008), it takes an unusual amount of time to display the list of events when you first click on a certain event log. I'm talking about 5 to 20 seconds and I can observe this behavior on every machine we have. I guess that the MMC load all alone before display event log chosen and therefore takes this huge amount of time. It's always annoying if you open Event Viewer, several times a day and I'd love to have this problem.

I guess that the MMC load all alone before display event log chosen and therefore takes this huge amount of time.

Yes, it takes a lot of time to read all the newspapers from the hard drive, fill in the table in memory, then filter for the one (s) you selected.  I've heard a lot of work going on in this Windows 10, but as it is rarely used (and Windows 7 is beyond the end of the chronology of support), you get any updates to fix on Windows 7.

  • How to remove data in the Event Viewer log

If I go to the event viewer in computer management and select these words. He did a search on the summary of the events of Admisitrator, recently seen nodes and newspaper summary. I want to remove all references in the summary of the events of the administrator, but I want to continue to use the log for all future events.

I tried to do by ensuring that there is a check box FILE reviews "Show all hidden files" and I also took the checkbox "Hide protected operating system files".  I have to program Data/Microsoft/Event Viewer and the folder is EMPTY.

Is there a way to do this correctly?

The observer of events (local) summary of administrative events on my computer displays the event in the last hour, last 24 hours and 7 days. Do you mean that you have received errors Event ID 315 2,000 over the last 7 days?

If you say yes then the priority should be to find why you get so many errors. It so happened that I had the same report and wrote the following to another forum on January 2, 2012. It can help to solve your problem.

This error was gets me a few months. This afternoon, I tried to resolve an event ID: error 2 and found a blog that offers a solution to this problem:
    http://manlyelectronics.com.au/blog/resolve-Windows-error-session-HomeGroup-log-failed-to-start-with-the-following-error-0xC0000035-in-Event-Viewer-Microsoft-Windows/

If you ignore the warning and click "Leave the homegroup" and restart the computer, your home network still works. You can also get no event IDS more: 2 errors and the bonus for me was a cessation of the event ID: 315 errors. I rebooted the computer several times and errors have ceased.

  • Why don't the Event Viewer won't allow me to activate the hardware event logging?

I have a computer that is running Windows 7 Professional. When I look at the event viewer, logging well seems to work for most of the nodes. However, for the two important knots in the Applications and Services logs, in particular, hardware and Internet Explorer events, the Actions pane doesn't have a control to enable logging and the Properties dialog box for this feature is grayed out, inactive. How can I activate these two newspapers?
