As the topic title says, since the installation of the router WRT 310N worm. 2 on my laptop, Windows Vista, and Norton 360 can not be changed - I continue to receive operation failed errors whenever I try to download the latest version of the software updates or antivirus. • Running and Xbox 360 via Windows Media Center

Hello, I am a new student of college, and because my funds are limited I am using my Xbox 360 via my PC monitor. When I bought my computer, I got also a HDTV Tuner with composite video options. Through their software, I could connect my xbox and see it, but I was wondering if there was a way I could do it through Windows Media Center or something similar. I saw that there is a cable that goes from the Xbox to VGA, but I think that there will be problems with the sound (where I have the red/white audio cables?). Not sure if there is a converter or not, but like I said before, funds are limited. Thanks for all your help and I look forward to hear from someone as soon as possible.

    Tyler Campbell

    Hey TechTyler,

Since you have only one monitor and want to connect your PC and X - Box for the same monitor, I suggest that you try to find a separator that would help you get out of the XBox and the PC. You can use one of those to get the result on the same monitor of 2 devices. Who would use a VGA cable to connect 2 devices. You will be able to switch between your PC and the X - Box.You can try to search separator you can use to connect two monitors. I hope this information helps.

However, we at microsoft do not recommend or suggest one of these, you will need to use them at your own risk.

  • Xbox 360 wired controller works only with Windows 8. Xbox 360 Assecories status when I click on it says I have it has been changed or moved, and will not work.

I have a controller wired xbox 360, not one of these pieces of plug. I put the USB controller and installed the device. However, it does not work. Xbox 360 Assecories status when I click on it says I have it has been changed or moved, and will not work. I have not touched. When I search for a download for Windows 8 all get them are downloads for Windows 7 and below. It's a bit frustrating to not be able to use it. I would be very happy to help.

Original title: windows 8 wired 360 controller

I found the problem. I had the appropriate controller and installed the device correctly. This is the program that runs the unit that had either corrupt or missing files. I uninstalled the program and then installed from the Microsoft Download page. Now he works currently. Thanks for the support.

When you reach the last click on print password and instructions. Follow the instructions on how to configure a password sharing between your xbox and pc.

  • How to stop the indexing of media files in Windows Media Center Xbox 360 extender?

I have successfully set up the Xbox 360 Windows Media Center and attaches it to a machine Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit on the same LAN segment.  It works fine, except that he rebuilt his index from scratch, apparently file whenever it is launched on the Xbox.  Specifically, if the Xbox is turned off and then turned back on, and WMC on that is launched, the files in the folder of the Windows 7 machine media library are indexed again).  This makes WMC on Xbox almost unusable, because it forces you to wait a long time for the UI to become sensitive, whenever it is launched after turning on the Xbox.

This doesn't seem to be a network problem, as I've reconfigured it all the senses (wired and wireless), network setting tool reports always excellent results, and once the index file is rebuilt files media play very well.

I tried to reduce the number of files in the files of 'library' of the media on the Windows 7 machine and were reduced to a single folder in which the files do not change (that is, the files are added, deleted or changed between Xbox WMC launches).

This behavior is normal?  Is it possible to change it?  I can't find the settings on the Xbox that control it.

The local network segment is on the Internet, and the Windows 7 machine had all updates applied from the time of this post.  The Xbox is the new Xbox 360 4 gig, with more than 2 GB of free space on the internal memory and another 8 GB of free space on MU.

  • User account Windows 7 and security - my administrator account is now a guest account

I seem to have a complex problem, regarding Windows 7 Professional, running on a Toshiba laptop.

I recently changed my C: drive security features to make the files more accessible to my PC desk top of the page. I went through the process to allow the authorization: Windows Explorer, Driver C:, properties, security, group or user names:

I selected my user account, and then you click on change. I then highlighted my name of user account and when permissions for authenticated users box below and clicked under the column allow "full control". The system when by a long time to change the permissions.

Today, I tried to access the files on my laptop on my desk, all seemed very well! I was able to copy files back from both sides through my network. However, today, I noticed that my user account has become a guest account, while he was an administrator account. My administrator account is no longer visible.

I tried the various patches available online in safe mode. Nothing helps.

When I start my laptop in safe mode, I see only my administrator account and not my user account. When I start my laptop computer in normal mode, I see that my user account and not my administrator account. My account user has full administrative rights before that.

How can I get my a new administrator account user account?

    Please clarify these aspects:

1 you are referring to an administrator account.  There really the administrator username?  If so, this is the built-in Administrator account.

    2. Why do you say that your account is a guest account?  If you go into Control Panel, [view by - small icons, if necessary], user accounts is your normal account appear as a Standard user account?  That at least seems logical, the account guest is something very specific.

    - - - - - - - - - - - -

If my assumptions were correct then

A reboot in safe mode and use of the built-in Administrator account to create a new Admin-level account.  Password protect and write the password somewhere down or create a password reset disk.

B connect to the new account Admin to test is everything is OK.

C use where the other account to edit your account usual back to being an Admin-level account.  Then sign in to ensure that it works correctly. Restart normally [not in safe mode].

D disable the built-in Administrator account if it appears in the Control Panel, [view by - small icons, if necessary], user accounts, Manage another account.  I don't think it will be.

E if you want to check out so you can now reboot into safe mode, and the built-in administrator will be gone from here too.  It appears automatically in safe mode if no other Admin account exists in the system.

    - - - - - - - - - - - -

On the procedure that started it all off, the permissions change.  Windows does not expect this large-scale change and I invite you to reinstall Windows, since you do not know in what condition the system is now in - Windows probably does not know either.

  • Windows Firewall and Norton 360

I just installed Windows 10 on my computer and have also installed Norton. I get a notification saying that the Windows Firewall is disabled but when I go to turn it on it won't let me and says that Norton that she manages. Norton Firewall is enabled. Does this mean that I can ignore the Windows Firewall and will continue to be protected using Norton Firewall? Is it true that Norton just disables the Windows Firewall and takes over? A bit confused because it's happened on Windows 8.

    Thanks :)

Your best bet is to contact Symantec.  Your version may even not be Windows compatible, 10.

I was watching videos I saved as WMV files on my TV through my xbox 360. However if you try to advance the video or go directly to part later show that it does so very slowly, how do I get to jump more than 30 seconds or more?

    Hello Pegamentoa,

You could try one of the following shortcuts and see if they help.
When viewing videos, you can use your controller to take one of the following shortcuts:
    Press on for:
LB - Skip back one chapter.

RB - Skip before a chapter.

RT - fast forward or PG. Prev scroll through a list of items.

LT - Rewind, or PG. Prev scroll through a list of items.

START - switch between play and pause. When you browse the videos, automatically start playback using the bookmark (if it exists) and bypassing the restart/RESUME page.

X, Y - Open display on the screen for the more advanced playback controls.

  • Network external hard drive for media sharing on Xbox 360

Hello, I just got a new external hard drive. I put a bunch of video files and music to share with my xbox 360. I use windows media player to make the media sharing. I got no problem with it for my regular hard drive in my computer. The first time I plugged my external hard drive to my computer and transferred the files added to the library, it worked fine and the xbox it would be. But after that I restarted my computer, my xbox can't see my external hard drive. I gave her a permanent using MMC drive letter and drive management. But for some reason any xbox will simply not show more. Any ideas? Thank you.

    I had the same problem

    1. Reset the wmp library
    2. Turn on file sharing for each folder on the external hard drive, including the player itself using the same settings.

    3. remove the Xbox 360 exceptions in your firewall
