Windows Live Mail help - folders view

I lost about 400 emails. I know that they are still in my system of e-mail somewhere when I'm looking for the e-mail address of the recipients, all messages (sent and received) that show the results. However, there is nothing to tell me exactly which folder are in.

I've always used Outlook Express and in the main pane, you can select which columns to show and I've always had: to, of, Date, attachment, folder and that I could always tell folder in which was in the email.

In Windows Live Mail, it has no option to add the 'File' column, so, how do I know where all these emails? All mails (about 400 of them) were stored in a main folder called '2009', who was then 12 subfolders. I cannot find this folder or one of its subfolders anywhere now, but all emails are in the system somewhere because they all show in search results.

All help find a way to see the location real email would be appreciated.

Thank you

I am trying to import the .eml files that I have in storage files in WLM in Thunderbird. Of the help section on Thunderbird:

Windows Mail (.eml files) in Thunderbird import is enabled by ImportExport third-party add-on tools. Download and install this add-on to transfer messages from Windows Live Mail into Thunderbird.

However, import Tools is an as file and my computer (Windows 7) cannot open it. Although I found an online program that convert into something readable, my software virus identified the program as malware. Does anyone know a way to safely convert a file as something Windows can recognize and run?

You should have a new tab under tools at the bottom that says "import/export - tools".
You can watch modules / Modules to see if
ImportExportTools is installed and activated. The choice of installation it is probably fine as it is.

  • How to transfer my contacts and emails from Outlook Express 6 to 8 of Windows Live Mail?

I'm new to Windows 8 and has been using Outlook Express 6 on Windows XP before that. I need help to transfer the contacts from outlook to Windows Live Mail 8. It would also help if someone can help me with a kind of tutorials or something so I can use Windows 8 in an optimal way. Thank you!

In Outlook Express, compact you files first.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

Note: If any DBX file is over 300 MB, return to OE and move some messages from the folder related to a new user created folder and compact down the size of the file.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

WLMail 2011/2012: switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

You can read a message like this if you press Alt-Shift-H?

When you view your list of messages, press Ctrl-Shift-O for Options. On the reading tab, is to read all messages in plain text selected?

If this isn't the case, you can have too many temporary Internet files. Close Windows Live Mail. In Control Panel, select Internet Options, then on the general tab, click delete... Select the boxes on two albums, and then click Remove. Wait until the process is complete, then restart Windows Live Mail and see if the problem persists.

  • Installed Windows 7 and windows live mail, how can I import my emails (.dbx files) of Outlook Express 6 in XP.___Jackson

I tried everything, I use import in windows live, but the messages do not appear in the additional email account. Changed all Office win7 .dbx files, they seem to be important but do not appear in the email client. I tried everything, and read all that, short of ideas.
    Any help, greatly appreciated.

    Jackson9

Thanks for the help, finally understand it a day or two ago, it is important in a storage folder, it WILL NOT put it in the mail client, you have to find the storage folder. who is buried deep (C:\Users\***\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Storage Folders\Imported Folder\Local folder) in the C drive, and then copy and paste in the files, one folder by one. BTW, the link refers to the import of Vista, Win7 not. The process does not work in Win7
