Windows Live Mail - import contacts very slow

Import contacts Windows Live Mail is very very ssssloooooooooowwwww.

I am importing approximately 2300 contacts from a CSV file created using the WLM on the same computer export function, until I had to do a complete Windows re - install. The export function created the file quickly enough. Importation is happening now for 15 hours and has just exceeded 2000 contacts so I guess there are still a few hours or more.

It's pretty extreme and ridiculous! Am I doing something wrong or missed something? In the previous mail clients such as Outlook Express and Outlook, this task took a few seconds.  It looks like a huge not backward, even a computer in the era of steam dispose of such a simple and banal mission without imposing its only megabytes of ram.

  • Windows Live Mail - Import .pst file messages

Hello, I recently bought a new computer that is running Windows 7.  My e-mail program is Windows Live Mail.

My old computer has Windows XP, and I served my Outlook e-mail program.

I saved all my e-mail messages from Outlook (old computer) to a "PST" on an external hard drive, before wiping my old hard drive clean.

I need to help the transfer (or extraction) my messages in my file .pst in Windows Live Mail (new computer).

    So, to summarize:
    1. old Outlook emails stored in a .pst file in an external hard drive
    2. new computer running Windows 7, and the e-mail program is Windows Live Mail
    3. I want to transfer my old emails (stored in the .pst file) into my new computer.

    How can I accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

By downloading and installing the trial version of Office 2007, add the PST to the mail profile, and then import in WLM.

BTW, if you have used the 'export' function in Outlook on your old machine, then you may well have problems with pst file that results. Unless you connect to Exchange Server, your data Outlook WERE already in a pst file. If you find my answer helpful, please click the button "Vote as helpful"! Thank you! My Blog

  • Windows Live Mail 2011: contact lists

It seems that I have two separate and distinct lists of Contacts 2: when NOT connected; another when I AM connected.  What is going on?

In addition, what is the importance of sign or not sign?

    Jack, Mevorach, Esq.

It seems that I have two separate and distinct lists of Contacts 2: when NOT connected; another when I AM connected.

It's true. If you connect, you see the calendar and the default contacts list. If you sign, you will see the contacts and calendar associated with the Microsoft Account sign in to help and any changes made locally will be reflected on the web and vice versa. This makes it possible to access your contacts and calendar from any computer with an Internet connection, by visiting contacts.live.com and calendar.live.com respectively.

... What is the meaning of signing or not signing?

Signature determines which list of contacts and the calendar to load. It also makes it possible to send photo emails, which avoids clogging mailboxes and e-mail channels to the letters by uploading images to a file hosting site.

Many users find it convenient to use a list of contacts and calendar for business and other private purposes. I Accounts different Microsoft for various purposes and you just connect with those suitable for the tasks that I am doing at the moment. I find it very comforting to know that my contact list is saved safely on a secure server, somewhere, in case anything should happen to my computer.

  • List of e-mail in Windows Live Mail 2012 contacts

When you try to send an email to an existing contact, I get the message 'none of your contacts that have an e-mail address defined. Please tell me how to retrieve the list of contacts.

Is this something that happened all of a sudden? Or if your contacts have never had e-mail addresses? Where they come from?

Switch to the contacts window (press Ctrl-3 or click on the third icon at the foot of the folders pane). Select consider as > list and deselect Preview. You can now organize the table to respond to right click on the column headings to add, change, or delete columns. Implemented so that you can see at least name, personal e-mail, work email and another email. If there is a contact without entries in the columns of mail , double-click the contact to open the Edit the Contact dialog. Check all pages of dialogue to see if any e-mail address has been moved.

  • How can I import groups of Windows Mail contacts in Windows Live Mail?

I work in a small office where we have computers running Windows Vista and using Windows Mail (version 6.0.6000.16388).  We have hundreds of contacts and a few contact groups on these computers.

A few months ago, we got two new computers running Windows XP and Windows Live mail (version 2009, version 14.0.8089.0726).  Other computers at the office always have Vista and the other version of Windows Mail.

I was able to export our hundreds of contacts and import them into Windows Live Mail for new computers have all the contacts... but I was unable to find a way to import groups.

These groups are all very large and comprise mostly/entirely out of contacts that do not have individual contact entries.

I've been Googling for a solution to this problem.  The page nearest you, that I could find was this:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/3818-Windows-Live-Mail-import-Vista-contacts-contact-groups.html

I was very discouraged when I saw the big red warning to the top of the page:

    ---------------
In the Groups of Contact with Vista, only contacts who are also included as normal Contacts will be imported into Windows Live Mail. Contacts that have been created for the Contact Group only will not be imported into Windows Live Mail. You will need to write these down and add them manually in Windows Live Mail.
    ---------------

This pretty much described my situation exactly, but manually going through all groups, write all contacts, and then import them manually into two separate machines should always and is simply not an option.

Are there really no other way I can get these groups into Windows Live Mail?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you very much!

I have not actually tried this, but I think this method will work.

    1. get a free Live ID (or @hotmail.com or @live.com).

    2. install Windows Live Mail on Vista computer. During the installation, it will offer to signature with a Live ID. Do.

    3. the first performance of Windows Live Mail, it will be important to all contacts from Windows Mail. Give him enough time to synchronize all contacts with the web version of this Live ID.

    4. open Windows Live Mail on the new computer and then connect with the same Live ID. The automatic synchronization process will transfer in all contacts of the web version of this Live ID.

  • How can I import my data from Windows Mail in Windows Live Mail?

I use a Vista and using Windows Mail that comes with it. I recently started using Windows Live Mail, imported my files that I created on Windows Mail to Windows Live mail?

    > I've recently started using Windows Live Mail...

If you already used WLM, and you already have setup one account there, then on the left side, folder list, do scroll down to find the storage folder > under which is the imported folder. This is where all your WM mails are stored.

In your new WLM account, create sub folders with names corresponding to mails in WM.

You can then either use the drag and drop, or the Move To option, and messages from transfer of file imported back to your newly created in WLM subfolders.

  • What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?

    Separated from this thread.

I realize that starting from 7/11, Windows Live is more effective on my Windows Vista system.  I understand that and I have since beengetting my Hotmail acc't workingusing only Windows Live Mail.  This am, I tried to create a new account hotmail for my friend, but we couldn't get it to accept and just stopped trying.  Now, today, I can not send any e-mail because "you cannot configure Windows Mail to use a web (HTTP) that is running Windows Vista based."  WHA?  I managed somehow to get into Windows Live when I tried to get a new account hotmail for my friend?  Also, I also receive a message from the Assistant on "you want to want to leave, you have not created your new account?  (probably not the exact wording).  In response, I clicked Yes and no, and still I can't get out of this Windows Live.  I would like to purge my system of this needless to Windows Live and only use Windows Live Mail.  Can someone help me to do this?  (My knowledge of couputer is at a basic level, so hopefully it won't be too difficult to understand.)  Thank you!!!

(With the HTTP mess), it seems Windows Mail and Windows LIVE Mail are two very different things.

I am not a technician, but try to stay up-to-date. I have known that Vista sucks because it came out, but it surprised me, never have used before today. So I wonder...  Windows LIVE Mail can be installed on a Vista unit, and if so he would remove the format HTTP bug? It's all THE Microsoft, after all! On my PC with Windows 7 HP with complete Essentials, including Live Mail (for PC, to avoid confusion with the version online), I have not had any problems to Hotmail at work, send or receive. GMail also, no problem, the only thing I did NOT like about Live Mail is that it doesn't have the handy function "Sweep" that I love, I just go online to own things very quickly. With only Windows Mail (which I assume is supplied with Vista), it won't let me even try to set-up Hotmail/Outlook account. It's stupid, because like I said it's all EM!

    peace ~

Windows Mail is the e-mail that comes with client program and a part of Windows Vista. Windows Live Mail is a program available for free download; It is an e-mail client, the timing, the Manager contacts, aggregator and newsreader at a single feeding program.

Until a few years ago, it was possible to synchronize the Hotmail accounts with e-mail clients on Windows XP and Vista (Outlook Express and Windows Mail respectively) using WebDAV over HTTP protocol. This method has been deprecated after a long sequence of initialization in September 2009. Before that date, POP3 access has been made available for all Hotmail accounts. At any time it was not possible to access Hotmail email clients accounts. There is no bug involved here, nor in HTTP format or anything else.

Windows Live Mail is built to use a different former WebDAV protocol; DeltaSync protocol allows the synchronization of e-mail folders, contacts, and calendars between client and server.

You may be able to download the installer for Windows Live Mail 2011 of this page: How to install Windows Essentials while offline? Do not try to include Windows Live Writer or Messenger in the installation; None of them will work and you can gum up toward the top of the entire installation Essentials if you do. It may be better to stick to one mail at first. Windows Live Mail 2011 is the latest version which runs on Vista.
