Windows Live Mail - Import .pst file messages

Hello, I recently bought a new computer that is running Windows 7.  My e-mail program is Windows Live Mail.

My old computer has Windows XP, and I served my Outlook e-mail program.

I saved all my e-mail messages from Outlook (old computer) to a "PST" on an external hard drive, before wiping my old hard drive clean.

I need to help the transfer (or extraction) my messages in my file .pst in Windows Live Mail (new computer).

So, to summarize:
1. old Outlook emails stored in a .pst file in an external hard drive
2. new computer running Windows 7, and the e-mail program is Windows Live Mail
3. I want to transfer my old emails (stored in the .pst file) into my new computer.

How can I accomplish this?
Thanks in advance.

By downloading and installing the trial version of Office 2007, add the PST to the mail profile, and then import in WLM.

BTW, if you have used the 'export' function in Outlook on your old machine, then you may well have problems with pst file that results. Unless you connect to Exchange Server, your data Outlook WERE already in a pst file. If you find my answer helpful, please click the button "Vote as helpful"! Thank you! My Blog

  • Windows live mail does not retrieve messages unless a restart occurs first. Why?

Window live mail will not recover messages unless I restart my pc. If I reboot and then open direct mail all right, but if I wait a few hours (perhaps a shorter time...) I do not know) and try to retrieve the messages it just hinders is when extracting them... I get no error message, it's just trying to get back the message without success. If I then reboot my pc, direct mail works (until next time).

    Any ideas?

  • Windows Live Mail - import contacts very slow

Import contacts Windows Live Mail is very very ssssloooooooooowwwww.

I am importing approximately 2300 contacts from a CSV file created using the WLM on the same computer export function, until I had to do a complete Windows re - install. The export function created the file quickly enough. Importation is happening now for 15 hours and has just exceeded 2000 contacts so I guess there are still a few hours or more.

It's pretty extreme and ridiculous! Am I doing something wrong or missed something? In the previous mail clients such as Outlook Express and Outlook, this task took a few seconds.  It looks like a huge not backward, even a computer in the era of steam dispose of such a simple and banal mission without imposing its only megabytes of ram.

  • Windows Live Mail does not sort messages by date

Specifically the new Essentials 2011 - the old version would be sort the messages in the forums per day but I can't get the new version to do it properly.

Secondly - I hate the toolbar bulky at the top with all the huge (and mostly unused) buttons - the simplicity of the old version was much, much better. If theres a way to return to the old version that would be great.

Operating system is WIndows 7 Home Premium 64 bit if there is no difference.

    Thank you very much

A lot of people don't like the new Ribbon interface in Windows Live Mail 2011 and want to go back to the old version.  For more information on how to do this, please see the updated Windows prompting users to install Windows Live Essentials 2011 and follow these steps here:

    1. Uninstall Windows Live Essentials.
    2. Install the 2009 version.
    3. Hide the Windows of Windows Live Essentials 2001 update.

  • Windows Live mail download 20 000 messages

I just got a new computer and found that as it was windows 7 I could use outlook express, so I started using Windows live mail.

The first day was fine, but the second day (today) he started to download all my old messages from my BT account. I have more than 20,000 messages, and to about 4,000 that I couldn't stop their download I deleted the program.

I tried to go to my bt account to remove, but can only remove a page at a time that will take me forever. I tried to remove the 4,000 or so already uploaded to the account of direct mail but there was a tab "select all."

I do not want to reinstall direct mail, until I know I can stop all my old messages to download. I googled this problem and found a lot of people complain about this, but couldn't find an answer.

    Thank you.

    K

I'm glad you've made any progress.

To remove all the: select one and Ctrl + A will highlight all. -Delete.

To delete a section: highlight the first one you want to remove. Scroll to last and click while holding down the SHIFT key. -Delete.

To delete several messages that alternate: hold down the CTRL key while you click each message in order to highlight. -Delete.

  • Tried to install Windows Live Mail, I get the message: if I have installed the updates I would lose Live mail.

Original title: Windows Live Mail for widows 7.

I've been using Live Mail in windows 7, I recently tried to install updates and a message that came if I installed the updates I would lose Live mail? then, they want us to buy outlook? or is there an equivalent version of the direct male for free download?

If you are talking about windows live mail (part of essentials) you shouldn't lose it when updating.  If we know what updates, we would be safer.

You may need to upgrade to the newest version of WLM.

  • How to make Windows Live Mail Notifier of new messages permanently & stay in the tray on close program

Windows Live Mail may seem a new mail alert, but only once. It can also be in the notification area / bar tasks, but do not continue to inform. I would like continuous notification because when I'm not away and come back, I don't know unless I manually open the program that I have received the mail.

I would also keep it in the notification area, even if I close the program.

If you want to do something like that then you need either a third-party utility or a different email client like Thunderbird where you can change the notification.

I would also keep it in the notification area, even if I close the program.

  • How can I import my data from Windows Mail in Windows Live Mail?

    > I've recently started using Windows Live Mail...

If you already used WLM, and you already have setup one account there, then on the left side, folder list, do scroll down to find the storage folder > under which is the imported folder. This is where all your WM mails are stored.

In your new WLM account, create sub folders with names corresponding to mails in WM.

You can then either use the drag and drop, or the Move To option, and messages from transfer of file imported back to your newly created in WLM subfolders.
