Windows Live Mail - Unable to delete contacts

WLM2011, WIN7Pro. Icon 'Contacts' to L.L. (Ctrl-3) returns a blank page. All other L.L. icons work. I do not sign to WLM popup on the launch window. Names in new Message 'To' field is the drop-down window with correct addresses, selection highlights name. Normally send and receive messages. , I can't remove it from the list of contacts. Where is the list of contacts? How can I remove contacts?

Thanks, Tushar:

I followed the link you suggested, found

Is it painful?

Windows Live Mail REALLY ask you to use Hotmail and done everything in his power to help ensure that, even at the expense of 'hide' your old contacts.

Follow these steps to recover your contacts:

(1) in the upper left corner click on the arrow down just above the "Email" icon to open a hidden menu.

(2) select Options.

(3) select Mail.

4) go to the Connections tab.

(5) click on "Stop signing in.»

It will be "UnHook" your client Windows Live Mail and like magic your old contacts will reappear.

In my opinion, it's an EPIC FAIL the part of Windows Live Mail ability to manage contacts.

and completely solved my problem, as if by magic.

Thank you.

  • Windows Live Mail - Unable to send (from Windows7 64-bit machine)

Hello, I am computer technology in our office.  I have four new desktops Windows7 Pro 64-bit at the office, I try to get Windows Live Mail works on.  I can receive messages but not send mail.  I use the standard port 25 SMTP outgoing; port 110 POP3 for incoming.  The e-mail account is fine (accesscomm.ca) and have used it for years.  I get the error on the attempt to send TCP.  Just for something else to try, I used the same account settings on an HP that has Windows7 32 bit laptop and it worked fine!  So is there something specific to the 64-bit version, or is there anything else to check?  I have disabled the Windows Firewall and UAC.

Well, well, well.  I removed McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.7.0i worm and can send very well now.

  • Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail without program

My motherboard is dead - have hard drive in the external case. When the desktop is dead, I was using Windows Mail - had never updated. I need the contacts and e-mail desperately from the hard drive. I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop. Installed Windows Live Mail but I am unable to get the info from the hard drive.

I know where my Windows Mail files. I tried to import live but no luck. Can anyone help please?

For contacts, simply copy the contents of the folder to

    {command} \Users\ {user} \Contacts
    TO
    C:\Users\{user}\Contacts.

In Windows Live Mail, switch to the contacts (Ctrl-3) window, and then select import > address book for the current Windows user.

For saved messages, it may be best to copy the folder to

    {reader} \Users\ {user} \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail

somewhere appropriate on a local drive, for example on your desktop. Then, in Windows Live Mail use the import messages feature on the file menu (Alt - I M) to import Windows Mail messages into the desktop folder.

  • Quick views in the pane of folders in Windows Live Mail

I recently received some emails that are not in my Inbox.  Two of them came in fast mode as 'Spam '. I have read them and tried to designate them as "not Spam." However I can't locate.

Today I received another email and it appeared in the Quick views as "unread". I read the e-mail, but now cannot locate. After reading it, the email disappeared quickly.

All emails appear on my tablet. I am a little concerned that the emails are important and I can't afford is not to see them easily. Normally all the emails only appear in the Inbox and I don't understand what is happening.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting the query on the Microsoft Community Forums. You have reached the right place. Let us work together to find the cause of this problem and try to solve.

A quick view is view a selection of messages in mail folders. Any message that you see in the Quick views is actually located in one of the folders that you can see in the files pane. Windows Live Mail only 'auto delete' whatever it is. If you are facing the same question next time, hear is the procedure to enable or disable the quick pane.

Open Windows Live mail > toolbar above, click on view > click on filters > should be the point of view quick return at the top of the folders pane.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have other problems with Windows in the future.

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 request username and password

Windows Live Mail 2012 never asked me user and password because it has been installed. After trying to send a photo from my Canon camera software after I had downloaded the images from the camera, asked for the username and password. Joined those from Microsoft. E-mail does not; It is in the Outbox. Choose the icon on desktop for Windows Live Mail 2012 and all contacts are gone. Email arrives, but can not send email. Need problem solved.

If you try to use the Windows function send to > message recipient to send an image, you must be logged into Windows Live Mail. There is a bug in the program.

When you are connected, you will see the contacts that belong to the Microsoft Account sign in to help. These are the same ones you see at http://people.live.com so sign here with the same account. If you are not signed in, you will see the default contacts list. There is no link between these different sets of contacts.

To avoid the bug, start by opening a message compose window in Windows Live Mail (for example by pressing Ctrl-N), and then apply a Insert > single photo to insert an image or images in the body of your message, or attach a file to send in the form of attachments.

If you are not able to send messages, please remove any message not sent from the Outbox, then compose a simple message, try again with a single topic and send it to yourself. Send the error message in your response.

  • Windows live mail (receiver sending suspended

    Hello

I added a new account to Live mail but I need to keep the old account, as I have a lot of emails arranged in folders so that I can return them.  I must however have tried to send a new email to send instead of my account newly set up using the old account. Now when hit send/receive it just hangs saying she "runs."

I deleted the items in the Outbox and no difference.

I'd appreciate help on this point - in short to delete my old account.

I managed to take off line (I had already deleted Outbox)...

You must open the Outbox again after you be disconnected; messages that cannot be sent should return here, probably marked as read.

If you don't see always not the message complained to delete, close, open a window of the Explorer (Windows key + E), copy and paste this line in the address bar and press enter:

    %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows live Mail\Outbox

Delete whatever it is in the folder, then launch Windows Live Mail again.

Note: Windows Live Mail has 2 two sets of contacts, contact online and offline contacts. Online contacts are those who are associated with the Windows Live ID used to connect to the client. These contacts are stored on the Windows Live servers with Windows Live Mail synchronizes. Offline contacts are these added contacts to contacts in Windows Live Mail when you are not connected to your Live ID/Microsoft account. Offline contacts are stored locally on your computer.
