Windows Live Mail - which is a good, simple explanation of how this works?

I have Windows 7 Professional upward and running and to have good luck with the drivers and applications I have loaded on.  However, I feel a lot of teething problems with Windows Live Mail.

(1) it download my e-mail to the computer but still leaves the mail on the server.  It's embarrassing for my iPhone and other electronic formats.  Is there a way of really downloading from the server, such as Windows Mail?  Something that can be checked somewhere?

(2) what about all my archived email Windows Mail and Outlook Express email?  I had assumed that, as with Windows Mail, I would be able to import these old archives.  Suggestions how to proceed?

(3) contacts?  They're not going on where they should.

I don't know that I could understand that, if I could find a guide of good help, but Windows Live Mail tips seems scattered in all directions.

You are welcome.

Here's how I'd get contacts from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail:

1 export Windows Mail contacts to CSV (Comma Separated Values) file format.  Select only the fields that you really need.  For me, it's just first name , last name , name , and e-mail address .  Clear the check boxes for all other fields.

2 copy the CSV file on Windows 7 computer.

3 import the CSV file into Windows Live Mail.

  • Emails, do not download Windows Live Mail of BT Yahoo

My wife's cell phone bought in 2011 running Windows 7 and it uses Windows Live Mail to his email. She has accounts of BTinternet and until about two weeks ago e-mails downloaded easily from the BT Yahoo accounts. E Mails can be read on the BT Yahoo server but do not download in Windows Live Mail more. Strangely it can send form emails Windows Live one of his accounts.

How can I fix this please?

Microsoft no longer supports the so-called synchronization delta including windows live mail uses
If you use ONLY to send and not calendar & contacts windows live mail (any version), you can configure to operate using IMAP/POP.  If you do not need to synchronize the calendar & contacts...
It is an excellent replacement for Windows live mail which is free to try (up to 2 accounts) that BECAUSE of the work with the new outlook e-mail format called emclient.  There is also a paid version. You can either get here
It works with Exchange, POP, IMAP and looks like Windows live mail.  Frankly, it's the first replacement I've seen that actually works.  I spent.
They have their own support forums, a decent product and seem to be the only replacement for WLM that has the appearance of it.
You can import all your windows live mail in emclient easily by doing a file > import > windows live mail.  This will import your current data of WLM in emclient
On the side of caution I make a copy of the entire record of the WLM and save it somewhere safe.
There is a good wiki about it here
  • Windows Live Mail: One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found

Normally, I can receive, view and send on, almost all images, photographs and videos that I receive. However, on some occasions and I don't know why it is, I get the following warning Message:

One or more of the pictures in this message could

not to be found. When you send this message these

photos will not be included. Are you sure

    for sent this message?

    YES NO

I do not understand that at all and I'm not a computer guru, I'm just an old guy who tinkers with his computer and tries to stay in touch with the family. If there is someone who can help me understand this, don't forget, keep things simple and use the word which I can understand. As I said, I'm not a computer guru.

Thanks for any help in advance.

One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found...

It is a painful bug that affected some users of Windows Live Mail since the release of version 2011 in 2010. It happens because the program stops to be able to make the connection between the placeholder image in the body of the message and the attached file. It happens that some incoming messages, including those who have at some point crossed a server AOL, some which were composed in Word, some which came from an Apple computer and so on. Despite having requested and received thousands of examples, support staff have never cooked with an explanation, never forget a cure.

A search for your error message produced something like 200 discussions on this problem in forum Windows Live Mail. The only reliable solution is to click on the bottom half of the Next button and choose forward as an attachment. This will send the message exactly as you received it. It requires that the recipient can open the .eml files.

If not, right-click on each image in the incoming message and select record under to save the image on your computer. Then, when you write the forwarded message, remove each image and use the option of the single photo on the Insert tab to insert the image you saved.

  • XP SP3, and Windows Live Mail, when I receive a file .htm as an attachment to an e-mail, it's a file 'blocked '. How can I prevent this from happening.

Win XP SP3 and Windows Live Mail. I get emails from my office surveillance video. The e-mail has an attachment '.htm '. When I double click the file .htm in the email, it starts Internet Explorer 8 and must upload a short video clip and display it. The fly in the soup seems to be the fact that the .htm file is "locked".

He can be unlocked by saving it to disk and using Windows Explorer to display its properties, and then click the button "Unblock" - but it's just a "work around".

From what I read on Microsoft sites, the .htm files are not considered to be dangerous - or are? So why are they blocked? And how do I prevent it?

    I listen carefully!

Thank you very much Halima, maybe you helped me to focus, in any case I eventually find a switch in Windows Live Mail, which was causing my pain.

In Windows Live Mail, go to TOOLS-online the SECURITY OPTIONS-online SECURITY => and UNCHECK the line "do not allow opening or saving attachments that could contain a virus.

Problem solved - thank you for your time and effort.

  • Verizon to AOL webmail e-mail changes affect Windows Live Mail

When AOL acquired Verizon webmail webmail, I have had to change my user name and password.  Now the program Windows Live Mail, which I used for years will not connect, even if the e-mail address is still the same.  I think I may need to change the server on my Windows Mail account information, but I'm not sure what to enter.  After having spent two hours on the phone last night (for most pending) with the support of AOL, speaking with 3 different people and then be disconnected, I hate calling them once again.  I hope someone can help. Thank you!

Try smtpout.verizon.net port 587 (or 465 with tls/ssl recommended). This requires that you send mail from an account @verizon.net. Since the switch, you can send mail to other accounts or personal addresses or to work. If you need you will need to sign up for a third-party smtp relay (which I had). I found a free provided you send emails 200 or less per day. I would like to know if you want the link.
